Matteus 4
Jesus vert freista
(Mark 1,12–13; Luk 4,1–13)
1 Sidan førte Anden Jesus ut i øydemarka, så djevelen skulle freista han. t 2 Han fasta i førti dagar og førti netter, og til slutt vart han svolten. t 3 Då kom freistaren til han og sa: «Er du Guds Son, så sei at desse steinane skal verta til brød!» t
4 Jesus svara: «Det står skrive: Mennesket lever ikkje berre av brød, men av kvart ord som kjem frå Guds munn.»t
5 Då tok djevelen han med seg til den heilage byen, sette han på det ytste hjørnet av tempelmuren
6 og sa: «Er du Guds Son, så kast deg utføre! For det står skrive:t
Han skal gje englane sine ¬påbod om deg,
og dei skal bera deg ¬på hendene,
så du ikkje støyter foten ¬på nokon stein.»
7 Men Jesus svara: «Det står òg skrive: Du skal ikkje setja Herren din Gud på prøve.»t
8 Så tok djevelen han med seg opp på eit svært høgt fjell og synte han alle verdsens rike og deira herlegdom 9 og sa: «Alt dette gjev eg deg om du fell ned og tilbed meg.»
10 Då sa Jesus til han: «Gå frå meg, Satan! For det står skrive:t
Herren din Gud skal du tilbe,
han og ingen annan ¬skal du tena.»
11 Då gjekk djevelen frå han, og englar kom og tente han.tJesus tek til med si gjerning

12 Då Jesus fekk høyra at Johannes var sett i fengsel, drog han attende til Galilea. t 13 Han flytte frå Nasaret og busette seg i Kapernaum ved Galilea-sjøen, i landet til Sebulon- og Naftali-ættene. t
14 Såleis skulle det oppfyllast, det som er tala gjennom profeten Jesaja:
15 Du Sebulons og Naftalis land,
som ligg langsmed sjøen,
og landet austanfor Jordan,
du Galilea, ¬som høyrer heidningar til: t
16 Det folket som sat i mørker,
har sett eit stort ljos.
For dei som bur i dødens ¬skuggeland,
har ljoset gått opp. t
17 Frå den tid tok Jesus til å forkynna: «Vend om, for himmelriket er nær!»tDei fyrste læresveinane
(Mark 1,16–20; Luk 5,1–11)
18 Ein gong Jesus gjekk langsmed Galilea-sjøen, fekk han sjå to brør: Simon, som vert kalla Peter, og Andreas, bror hans. Dei heldt på å kasta ei not i sjøen; for dei var fiskarar. 19 Han sa til dei: «Fylg meg, så skal eg gjera dykk til menneskefiskarar!» t
20 Då gjekk dei beint ifrå nøtene sine og fylgde han.t
21 Då Jesus kom lenger fram, fekk han sjå to andre brør: Jakob, son til Sebedeus, og Johannes, bror hans. Dei sat i båten saman med Sebedeus, far sin, og bøtte nøter. Jesus kalla dei,
22 og med ein gong gjekk dei bort frå båten og far sin og fylgde han.Jesus forkynner og lækjer

23 Sidan fór Jesus ikring i heile Galilea; han lærte folket i synagogene deira, forkynte evangeliet om riket og lækte all sjukdom og vanhelse hjå dei. t 24 Det gjekk gjetord om han over heile Syria; og dei kom til han med alle som hadde vondt og leid av ymse sjukdomar og plager, både forgjorde, månesjuke og lame, og han lækte dei. t t t 25 Ei stor folkemengd fylgde han, frå Galilea og Dekapolis, frå Jerusalem og Judea og frå bygdene austanfor Jordan.t
MATTHEW 4
Jesus and the Devil
(Mark 1.12,13; Luke 4.1-13)
1 t The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, so that the devil could test him. 2 After Jesus had gone without eatingt for 40 days and nights, he was very hungry.
3 Then the devil came to him and said, “If you are God's Son, tell these stones to turn into bread.”
4 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say:
‘No one can live only on food.
People need every word
that God has spoken.’ ”
5 Next, the devil took Jesus into the holy city to the highest part of the temple.
6 t The devil said, “If you are God's Son, jump off. The Scriptures say:
‘God will give his angels
orders about you.
They will catch you
in their arms,
and you won't hurt
your feet on the stones.’ ”
7 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Don't try to test the Lord your God!’ ”
8 Finally, the devil took Jesus up on a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms on earth and their power.
9 The devil said to him, “I will give all this to you, if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 t Jesus answered, “Go away Satan! The Scriptures say:
‘Worship the Lord your God
and serve only him.’ ”
11 Then the devil left Jesus, and angels came to help him.Jesus Begins His Work
(Mark 1.14,15; Luke 4.14,15)
12 t When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went to Galilee. 13 t But instead of staying in Nazareth, Jesus moved to Capernaum. This town was beside Lake Galilee in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.t
14 So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said,
15 t “Listen, lands of Zebulun
and Naphtali,
lands along the road
to the sea
and across the Jordan.
Listen Galilee,
land of the Gentiles!
16 Although your people
live in darkness,
they will see
a bright light.
Although they live
in the shadow of death,
a light will shine
on them.”
17 t Then Jesus started preaching, “Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here.”tJesus Chooses //Four Fishermen
(Mark 1.16-20; Luke 5.1-11)
18 While Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers. One was Simon, also known as Peter, and the other was Andrew. They were fishermen, and they were casting their net into the lake. 19 Jesus said to them, “Follow me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish.”
20 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
21 Jesus walked on until he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus asked them to come with him.
22 At once they left the boat and their father and went with Jesus.Jesus Teaches, Preaches, //and Heals
(Luke 6.17-19)
23 t Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news about God's kingdom. He also healed every kind of disease and sickness.
24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people with every kind of sickness or disease were brought to him. Some of them had a lot of demons in them, others were thought to be crazy, t and still others could not walk. But Jesus healed them all.
25 Large crowds followed Jesus from Galilee and the region around the ten cities known as Decapolis.t They also came from Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan River.
