Matteusevangeliet 4
Jesus frestas
1 Sedan fördes Jesus av Anden ut i öknen för att sättas på prov av djävulen. 2 När han hade fastat i fyrtio dagar och fyrtio nätter blev han till slut hungrig. 3 Då kom frestaren och sade till honom: ”Om du är Guds son, så befall att de här stenarna blir bröd.”
4 Jesus svarade: ”Det står skrivet: Människan skall inte leva bara av bröd, utan av varje ord som utgår ur Guds mun. ”
5 Sedan tog djävulen honom med sig till den heliga staden och ställde honom högst uppe på tempelmuren 6 och sade: ”Om du är Guds son, så kasta dig ner. Det står ju skrivet: Han skall befalla sina änglar och de skall bära dig på sina händer så att du inte stöter foten mot någon sten. ”
7 Jesus sade till honom: ”Det står också skrivet: Du skall inte sätta Herren, din Gud, på prov. ”
8 Nu tog djävulen honom med sig upp på ett mycket högt berg och visade honom alla riken i världen och deras härlighet 9 och sade: ”Allt detta skall jag ge dig om du faller ner och tillber mig.” 10 Då sade Jesus till honom: ”Gå din väg, Satan. Det står ju skrivet: Herren, din Gud, skall du tillbe, och endast honom skall du dyrka. ”
11 Då lät djävulen honom vara, och änglar kom fram och betjänade honom.Jesus uppträder i Galileen
12 När han hörde att Johannes hade blivit fängslad vände han tillbaka till Galileen. 13 Han lämnade Nasaret och slog sig ner i Kafarnaum, som ligger vid sjön, i Sebulons och Naftalis land, 14 för att det som sagts genom profeten Jesaja skulle uppfyllas: 15 Sebulons land och Naftalis land ner mot sjön, på andra sidan Jordan, hedningarnas Galileen — 16 folket som bor i mörker har sett ett stort ljus, och för dem som bor i dödens land och skugga har ljuset gått upp.
17 Från den tiden började Jesus förkunna: ”Omvänd er. Himmelriket är nära.”De första lärjungarna
18 När han vandrade utmed Galileiska sjön fick han se två bröder, Simon som kallas Petrus och hans bror Andreas. De stod vid sjön och fiskade med kastnät, för de var fiskare. 19 Han sade till dem: ”Kom och följ mig. Jag skall göra er till människofiskare”, 20 och de lämnade genast sina nät och följde honom. 21 När han gick vidare fick han se två andra bröder, Jakob, Sebedaios son, och hans bror Johannes, sitta tillsammans med sin far Sebedaios i båten och göra i ordning sina nät. Jesus kallade på dem,
22 och genast lämnade de båten och sin far och följde honom.Jesus förkunnar och botar
23 Han vandrade omkring i hela Galileen och undervisade i synagogorna, förkunnade budskapet om riket och botade alla slags sjukdomar och krämpor bland folket. 24 Ryktet om honom spred sig i hela Syrien, och man förde till honom alla som led av olika sjukdomar och plågor, besatta, fallandesjuka och förlamade, och han botade dem. 25 Och stora skaror följde honom, folk från Galileen och Dekapolis, från Jerusalem och Judeen och från andra sidan Jordan.
MATTHEW 4
Jesus and the Devil
(Mark 1.12,13; Luke 4.1-13)
1 t The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, so that the devil could test him. 2 After Jesus had gone without eatingt for 40 days and nights, he was very hungry.
3 Then the devil came to him and said, “If you are God's Son, tell these stones to turn into bread.”
4 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say:
‘No one can live only on food.
People need every word
that God has spoken.’ ”
5 Next, the devil took Jesus into the holy city to the highest part of the temple.
6 t The devil said, “If you are God's Son, jump off. The Scriptures say:
‘God will give his angels
orders about you.
They will catch you
in their arms,
and you won't hurt
your feet on the stones.’ ”
7 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Don't try to test the Lord your God!’ ”
8 Finally, the devil took Jesus up on a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms on earth and their power.
9 The devil said to him, “I will give all this to you, if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 t Jesus answered, “Go away Satan! The Scriptures say:
‘Worship the Lord your God
and serve only him.’ ”
11 Then the devil left Jesus, and angels came to help him.Jesus Begins His Work

12 t When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went to Galilee. 13 t But instead of staying in Nazareth, Jesus moved to Capernaum. This town was beside Lake Galilee in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.t
14 So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said,
15 t “Listen, lands of Zebulun
and Naphtali,
lands along the road
to the sea
and across the Jordan.
Listen Galilee,
land of the Gentiles!
16 Although your people
live in darkness,
they will see
a bright light.
Although they live
in the shadow of death,
a light will shine
on them.”
17 t Then Jesus started preaching, “Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here.”tJesus Chooses //Four Fishermen
(Mark 1.16-20; Luke 5.1-11)
18 While Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers. One was Simon, also known as Peter, and the other was Andrew. They were fishermen, and they were casting their net into the lake. 19 Jesus said to them, “Follow me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish.”
20 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
21 Jesus walked on until he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus asked them to come with him.
22 At once they left the boat and their father and went with Jesus.Jesus Teaches, Preaches, //and Heals
(Luke 6.17-19)
23 t Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news about God's kingdom. He also healed every kind of disease and sickness.
24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people with every kind of sickness or disease were brought to him. Some of them had a lot of demons in them, others were thought to be crazy, t and still others could not walk. But Jesus healed them all.
25 Large crowds followed Jesus from Galilee and the region around the ten cities known as Decapolis.t They also came from Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan River.
