Matúš 4
1 Potom Duch vyviedol Ježiša na púšť, aby ho diabol pokúšal.2 A keď sa štyridsať dní a štyridsať nocí postil, napokon vyhladol.3 Tu pristúpil pokušiteľ a povedal mu: „Ak si Boží Syn, povedz, nech sa z týchto kameňov stanú chleby.“4 On odvetil: „Napísané je: »Nielen z chleba žije človek, ale z každého slova, ktoré vychádza z Božích úst.«“5 Potom ho diabol vzal do svätého mesta, postavil ho na vrchol chrámu6 a vravel mu: „Ak si Boží Syn, vrhni sa dolu, veď je napísané: »Svojim anjelom dá príkaz o tebe a vezmú ťa na ruky, aby si si neuderil nohu o kameň.«“7 Ježiš mu povedal: „Ale je aj napísané: »Nebudeš pokúšať Pána, svojho Boha.«“8 A zasa ho diabol vzal na veľmi vysoký vrch, ukázal mu všetky kráľovstvá sveta a ich slávu9 a vravel mu: „Toto všetko ti dám, ak padneš predo mnou a budeš sa mi klaňať.“10 Vtedy mu Ježiš povedal: „Odíď, satan, lebo je napísané: »Pánovi, svojmu Bohu, sa budeš klaňať a jedine jemu budeš slúžiť.«“11 Tu ho diabol opustil a prišli anjeli a posluhovali mu.12 Keď sa Ježiš dopočul, že Jána uväznili, odobral sa do Galiley.13 Opustil Nazaret a prišiel bývať do pobrežného mesta Kafarnaum,14 v končinách Zabulon a Neftali, aby sa splnilo, čo povedal prorok Izaiáš:15 „Krajina Zabulon a krajina Neftali, na ceste k moru, za Jordánom, Galilea pohanov!16 Ľud bývajúci v temnotách uvidel veľké svetlo. Svetlo zažiarilo tým, čo sedeli v temnom kraji smrti.“17 Od tej chvíle začal Ježiš hlásať: „Robte pokánie, lebo sa priblížilo nebeské kráľovstvo.“18 Keď raz kráčal popri Galilejskom mori, videl dvoch bratov, Šimona, ktorý sa volá Peter, a jeho brata Ondreja, ako spúšťajú sieť do mora; boli totiž rybármi.19 I povedal im: „Poďte za mnou a urobím z vás rybárov ľudí.“20 Oni hneď zanechali siete a išli za ním.21 Ako šiel odtiaľ ďalej, videl iných dvoch bratov, Jakuba Zebedejovho a jeho brata Jána, ako na lodi so svojím otcom Zebedejom opravujú siete; aj ich povolal.22 Oni hneď zanechali loď i svojho otca a išli za ním.23 A Ježiš chodil po celej Galilei, učil v ich synagógach, hlásal evanjelium o kráľovstve a uzdravoval každý neduh a každú chorobu medzi ľudom.24 Povesť o ňom sa rozniesla po celej Sýrii. Prinášali k nemu všetkých chorých, postihnutých rozličnými neduhmi a trápením, posadnutých zlými duchmi, námesačníkov a ochrnutých, a on ich uzdravoval.25 A šli za ním veľké zástupy z Galiley a Dekapola, z Jeruzalema, Judey a Zajordánska.
MATTHEW 4
Jesus and the Devil
(Mark 1.12,13; Luke 4.1-13)
1 t The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, so that the devil could test him. 2 After Jesus had gone without eatingt for 40 days and nights, he was very hungry.
3 Then the devil came to him and said, “If you are God's Son, tell these stones to turn into bread.”
4 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures say:
‘No one can live only on food.
People need every word
that God has spoken.’ ”
5 Next, the devil took Jesus into the holy city to the highest part of the temple.
6 t The devil said, “If you are God's Son, jump off. The Scriptures say:
‘God will give his angels
orders about you.
They will catch you
in their arms,
and you won't hurt
your feet on the stones.’ ”
7 t Jesus answered, “The Scriptures also say, ‘Don't try to test the Lord your God!’ ”
8 Finally, the devil took Jesus up on a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms on earth and their power.
9 The devil said to him, “I will give all this to you, if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 t Jesus answered, “Go away Satan! The Scriptures say:
‘Worship the Lord your God
and serve only him.’ ”
11 Then the devil left Jesus, and angels came to help him.Jesus Begins His Work
(Mark 1.14,15; Luke 4.14,15)
12 t When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he went to Galilee. 13 t But instead of staying in Nazareth, Jesus moved to Capernaum. This town was beside Lake Galilee in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.t
14 So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said,
15 t “Listen, lands of Zebulun
and Naphtali,
lands along the road
to the sea
and across the Jordan.
Listen Galilee,
land of the Gentiles!
16 Although your people
live in darkness,
they will see
a bright light.
Although they live
in the shadow of death,
a light will shine
on them.”
17 t Then Jesus started preaching, “Turn back to God! The kingdom of heaven will soon be here.”tJesus Chooses //Four Fishermen
(Mark 1.16-20; Luke 5.1-11)
18 While Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw two brothers. One was Simon, also known as Peter, and the other was Andrew. They were fishermen, and they were casting their net into the lake. 19 Jesus said to them, “Follow me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish.”
20 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
21 Jesus walked on until he saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father, mending their nets. Jesus asked them to come with him.
22 At once they left the boat and their father and went with Jesus.Jesus Teaches, Preaches, //and Heals
(Luke 6.17-19)
23 t Jesus went all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the good news about God's kingdom. He also healed every kind of disease and sickness.
24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people with every kind of sickness or disease were brought to him. Some of them had a lot of demons in them, others were thought to be crazy, t and still others could not walk. But Jesus healed them all.
25 Large crowds followed Jesus from Galilee and the region around the ten cities known as Decapolis.t They also came from Jerusalem, Judea, and from across the Jordan River.
