Matius 4
Pencobaan Terhadap Yesus
1 Kemudian Roht membawa Yesus ke padang gurun. Yesus dibawa ke sana untuk dicobai oleh iblis.2 Yesus tidak makan apa-apa selama 40 hari dan 40 malam. Setelah itu, Ia merasa lapar.3 Datanglah iblis kepada-Nya dan berkata, "Jika Engkau Anak Allah, buatlah batu itu menjadi roti."4 Jawab Yesus, "Dalam Kitab Sucit ada tertulis,
‘Bukan hanya roti yang membuat manusia hidup,
tetapi hidup manusia bergantung pada kata-kata yang diucapkan oleh Allah.’"
5 Kemudian iblis membawa Yesus ke kota suci, Yerusalem, dan menempatkan-Nya di puncak Bait.6 Ia berkata kepada-Nya, "Jika Engkau Anak Allah, lompatlah ke bawah. Karena dalam Kitab Suci ada tertulis,
‘Allah akan menyuruh malaikat-malaikat-Nya kepadamu,
dan mereka akan melindungimu ke mana pun engkau pergi.
Tangan mereka akan memegangmu,
maka kakimu tidak akan terantuk pada batu.’"
7 Jawab Yesus, "Dalam Kitab Suci juga tertulis,
‘Engkau tidak boleh mencobai Tuhan, Allahmu.’"
8 Kemudian iblis membawa Yesus ke puncak gunung yang tinggi. Ia menunjukkan kepada-Nya semua kerajaan di dunia beserta kemewahannya.9 Iblis berkata kepada-Nya, "Aku akan memberikan semua itu kepada-Mu jika Engkau sujud dan menyembah aku."10 Yesus berkata kepadanya, "Pergilah dari Aku, setan. Dalam Kitab Suci ditulis,
‘Engkau harus menyembah Tuhan, Allahmu.
Dan hanya Ia yang harus engkau layani.’"
11 Lalu iblis itu meninggalkan-Nya. Dan beberapa malaikat datang kepada Yesus untuk melayani-Nya.
Yesus Mulai Bekerja di Galilea
12 Ketika Yesus mendengar, bahwa Yohanest dipenjarakan, maka Yesus kembali ke Galilea.13 Yesus meninggalkan Nazaret dan tinggal di Kapernaum. Kota itu dekat Danau Galilea, di daerah Zebulon dan Naftali.14 Yesus melakukan hal itu supaya janji Nabit Yesaya dapat terjadi,15 "Lihatlah tanah Zebulon dan tanah Naftali,
tanah sepanjang jalan menuju ke laut,
daerahnya sampai ke seberang Sungai Yordan —
Galilea, tempat tinggal orang yang bukan Yahudi.
16 Orang yang hidup dalam kegelapan,
akan melihat terang yang besar.
Terang itu telah terbit untuk orang yang hidup
di daerah yang gelap seperti kubur."
17 Sejak saat itu, Yesus mulai mengatakan segala sesuatu yang dikehendaki Allah kepada orang banyak. Kata-Nya, "Bertobatlah karena Kerajaan Allaht sudah dekat."
Yesus Memilih Murid-murid-Nya
18 Ketika Yesus sedang berjalan di tepi Danau Galilea, Ia melihat dua orang nelayan, yaitu Simon (yang disebut "Petrus") dan Andreas, saudaranya. Mereka sedang menjala ikan di danau.19 Kata-Nya kepada mereka, "Ikutlah Aku dan Aku akan mengajar kamu mengumpulkan orang, bukan ikan."20 Simon dan Andreas segera meninggalkan jalanya lalu mengikut Yesus.21 Yesus melanjutkan perjalanan-Nya di tepi Danau Galilea. Ia melihat dua anak Zebedeus, yaitu Yakobus dan Yohanes. Mereka di dalam sebuah perahu bersama dengan Zebedeus. Mereka sedang mempersiapkan jalanya untuk menangkap ikan. Yesus menyuruh dua bersaudara itu mengikut Dia.22 Jadi, Yakobus dan Yohanes segera meninggalkan perahu dan ayahnya, lalu mengikut Yesus.
Yesus Mengajar dan Menyembuhkan
23 Yesus pergi ke seluruh daerah Galilea dan mengajar di rumah pertemuant dan memberitakan Kabar Baikt tentang Kerajaan Allah.t Ia juga pergi ke tengah-tengah orang banyak serta menyembuhkan orang sakit.24 Berita tentang Dia tersebar ke seluruh Siria. Mereka membawa orang sakit kepada-Nya. Mereka menderita berbagai macam penyakit. Ada yang sangat parah, ada yang dikuasai roh-roh jahat, ada yang berpenyakit ayan, dan ada yang lumpuh. Yesus menyembuhkan semua orang yang sakit itu.25 Banyak orang yang mengikut Yesus. Mereka berasal dari Galilea, Dekapolis, Yerusalem, Yudea, dan dari seberang Sungai Yordan.
Matthew 4
The Temptation of Jesus
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.2 And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He tthen became hungry.3 And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"
5 Then the devil *took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 and *said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written,
'HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU';
and
'ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP,
SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'"7 Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'"
8 Again, the devil *took Him to a very high mountain and *showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory;9 and he said to Him, "All these things I will give You, if You fall down and worship me."10 Then Jesus *said to him, "Go, Satan! For it is written, 'YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, AND SERVE HIM ONLY.'"11 Then the devil *left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him.
Jesus Begins His Ministry
12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been taken into custody, He withdrew into Galilee;13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali.14 This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet:
15 "THE LAND OF ZEBULUN AND THE LAND OF NAPHTALI,
BY THE WAY OF THE SEA, BEYOND THE JORDAN, GALILEE OF THE tGENTILES-
16 "THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT,
AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH,
UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED."
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
The First Disciples
18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.19 And He *said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Ministry in Galilee
23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.25 Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from beyond the Jordan.
