マタイによる福音書 5

五

1-2 ある日、大ぜいの人が集まって来たので、イエスは弟子たちを連れて山に登り、そこに腰をおろして、彼らにお教えになりました。
3 　「心の貧しさを知る謙そんな人は幸福です。　天国はそういう人に与えられるからです。　4 悲しみ嘆いている人は幸福です。　そういう人は慰められるからです。　5 柔和で高ぶらない人は幸福です。　全世界はそういう人のものになるからです。
6 　神の前に、正しく良い者になりたいと心から願っている人は幸福です。　そういう人の願いは完全にかなえられるからです。　7 親切であわれみ深い人は幸福です。　そういう人はあわれみを受けるからです。　8 心のきよい人は幸福です。　そういう人は親しく神とお会いできるからです。　9 平和をつくり出そうとしている人は幸福です。　そういう人は神の子供と呼ばれるからです。　10 正しい者だというので迫害されている人は幸福です。　天国はそういう人のものだからです。
11 　わたしの弟子だというので、悪口を言われたり、迫害されたり、ありもしないことを言いふらされたりしたら、なんとすばらしいことでしょう。　12 喜びなさい。　躍り上がって喜びなさい。　天国では、目を見張るようなごほうびが待っているからです。　昔の預言者たちも、そのように迫害されたことを思い出しなさい。
13 　あなたがたは、世の塩です。　もしあなたがたが塩けをなくしてしまったら、この世はどうなるでしょう。　あなたがたも、無用のものとして外に捨てられ、人々に踏みつけられてしまうのです。　14 あなたがたは世の光です。　丘の上にある町は、夜になると灯がともり、だれにもよく見えるようになります。　15-16 あなたがたの光を隠してはいけません。　すべての人のために輝かせなさい。　だれにも見えるように、あなたがたの良い行ないを輝かせなさい。　そうすれば、人々がそれを見て、天におられるあなたがたの父を、ほめたたえるようになるのです。
17 　誤解してはいけません。　わたしは、モーセの法律や預言者の教え（旧約聖書）を無効にするために来たのではありません。　かえって、それを完成させ、ことごとく実現させるために来たのです。　18 よく言っておきますが、聖書（旧約）にあるどんなおきても、その目的が完全に果たされるまで、無効になることはありません。　19 ですから、どんな小さいおきてでも、破ったり、また人にも破るように教えたりする人は、天国で最も小さい者となります。　しかし、神のおきてを教え、また自分でもそれを実行する人は、天国で偉大な者となります。
20 　よく聞きなさい。　パリサイ人や、ユダヤ人の指導者たちは、神のおきてを守っているのは自分たちだと言いはります。　だが、いいですか。　彼ら以上に正しくなければ、あなたがたは天国には入れません。
21 　モーセの法律では、『人を殺した者は、死刑に処す』とあります。　22 しかし、わたしはさらにこうつけ加えましょう。　人に腹を立てるなら、たとい相手が自分の家族であっても、裁判にかけられます。　友達をばか呼ばわりするなら裁判所に引っぱり出されます。　友達をのろったりするなら、地獄の火に投げ込まれます。
23 　ですから、神殿の祭壇に供え物をしようとしている時、何か友達に恨まれていることを思い出したら、　24 供え物はそのままにして、相手に会ってあやまり、仲直りすることです。　神に供え物をするのはそのあとにしなさい。　25 あなたを告訴する人と、一刻も早く和解しなさい。　裁判所に引っぱって行かれてからでは、間に合いません。　そうなったら、あなたは留置場に放り込まれ、　26 最後の一円を払い終えるまで、出て来られないでしょう。
27 　モーセの法律では、『姦淫してはならない』とあります。　28 しかし、わたしは言いましょう。　だれでも、みだらな思いで女性を見るなら、それだけでもう、心の中では姦淫したことになるのです。　29 ですから、もしあなたの目が情欲を引き起こすなら、その目を〔それが良いほうの目であっても〕えぐり出して捨てなさい。　体の一部を失っても、体全体が地獄に投げ込まれるより、よっぽどましです。　30 また、もしあなたの手が罪を犯させるなら、〔たといきき腕であっても〕そんな手は切り捨てなさい。　地獄に落ちるより、そのほうがどんなにましでしょう。
31 　また、モーセの法律では、『離縁状を手渡すだけで、妻を離縁できる』とあります。　32 しかし、わたしは言いましょう。　だれでも、不倫以外の理由で妻を離縁するなら、その婦人が再婚した場合、彼女にも、彼女と結婚する相手にも姦淫の罪を犯させることになるのです。
33 　さらに、モーセの法律では、『いったん神に立てた誓いは、破ってはならない。　どんなことがあっても、みな実行しなければならない』とあります。　34 しかし、わたしは言いましょう。　どんな誓いも立ててはいけません。　たとい『天にかけて』と言っても、神に誓うのと同じです。　天は神の王座だからです。　35 『地にかけて』と言ってもいけません。　地は神の足台だからです。　また『エルサレムにかけて』と言って誓ってもいけません。　エルサレムは大王である神の都だからです。　36 『私の頭にかけて』と言って誓ってもいけません。　あなたがたは髪の毛一本さえ白くも黒くもできないからです。　37 ただ『はい、そうします』とか、『いいえ、そうしません』とだけ言いなさい。　それで十分です。　誓いを立てることで約束を信じてもらおうとするのは、悪いことです。
38 　モーセの法律では、『人の目をえぐり出した者は、自分の目もえぐり出される。　人の歯を折った者は、自分の歯も折られる』とあります。　39 しかし、わたしはあえて言いましょう。　暴力に暴力で手向かってはいけません。　もし右の頬をなぐられたら、左の頬も向けてやりなさい。　40 借金のかたに下着を取り上げようとする人には、上着もやりなさい。　41 荷物を一キロ先まで運べと命令されたら、二キロ先まで運んでやりなさい。　42 何か下さいと頼む人には与え、借りに来た人を手ぶらで追い返さないようにしなさい。
43 　『隣人を愛し、敵を憎め』とは、よく言われることです。　44 しかし、わたしは言いましょう。　敵を愛し、迫害する人のために祈りなさい。　45 それこそ、天の父の子供であるあなたがたに、ふさわしいことです。　天の父は、悪人にも善人にも太陽の光を注ぎ、正しい人にも正しくない人にもわけ隔てなく雨を降らせてくださいます。　46 自分を愛してくれる人だけを愛したからといって、取り立てて自慢できるでしょうか。　ならず者でも、そのくらいのことはしています。　47 気の合う友達とだけ親しくしたところで、ほかの人とどこが違うと言えるでしょう。　神を信じない人でも、そのくらいのことはします。　48 ですから、あなたがたは、天の父が完全であるように、完全でありなさい。

Matthew 5

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain: and when he had sat down, his disciples came unto him:2 and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.

10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid.15 Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house.16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:22 but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire.23 If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,24 leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.26 Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:28 but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.29 And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.30 And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell.31 It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:32 but I say unto you, that every one that putteth away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, maketh her an adulteress: and whosoever shall marry her when she is put away committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:34 but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black.37 But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one.

38 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:39 but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.40 And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy:44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you;45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.46 For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same?48 Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
