III. SERMÓN DEL MONTE (5–7)
1 Al ver la multitud, Jesús subió al monte y se sentó.t Sus discípulos se le acercaron,
2 y él comenzó a enseñarles diciendo:La dicha verdadera (“Bienaventuranzas”)
(Lc 6.20-23)
3 “Dichosos los que reconocen su pobreza espiritual,t porque suyo es el reino de los cielos.t
4 “Dichosos los que sufren,t porque serán consolados.t t
5 “Dichosos los humildes, porque heredarán la tierra que Dios les ha prometido.t
6 “Dichosos los que tienen hambre y sedt de justicia,t porque serán satisfechos.t
7 “Dichosos los compasivos, porque Dios tendrá compasión de ellos.
8 “Dichosos los de corazón limpio,t porque verán a Dios.
9 “Dichosos los que trabajan por la paz,t porque Dios los llamará hijos suyos.
10 “Dichosos los perseguidos por hacer lo que es justo,t porque suyo es el reino de los cielos.
11 “Dichosos vosotros, cuando la gente os insulte y os maltrate, y cuando por causa mía digan contra vosotros toda clase de mentiras.t
12 ¡Alegraos, estad contentos, porque en el cielo tenéis preparada una gran recompensa!t Así persiguieron también a los profetas que vivieron antes que vosotros.tSal y luz del mundo

13 “Vosotros sois la sal de este mundo. Pero si la sal deja de ser salada, ¿cómo seguirá salando? Ya no sirve para nada, así que se la arroja a la calle y la gente la pisotea.t
14 “Vosotros sois la luz de este mundo.t Una ciudad situada en lo alto de un monte no puede ocultarse; 15 y una lámparat no se enciende para taparla con alguna vasija,t sino que se la pone en alto para que alumbre a todos los que están en la casa.t t
16 Del mismo modo, procurad que vuestra luz brille delante de la gente, para que, viendo el bien que hacéis, alaben todos a vuestro Padre que está en el cielo.tEl verdadero sentido de la ley
17 “No penséis que yo he venido a poner fin a la ley de Moisés y a las enseñanzas de los profetas.t No he venido a ponerles fin, sino a darles su verdadero sentido.t 18 Porque os aseguro que mientras existan el cielo y la tierra no se le quitará a la ley ni un punto ni una coma,t hasta que suceda lo que tenga que suceder.
19 Por eso, el que quebrantet uno de los mandamientos de la ley, aunque sea el más pequeño, y no enseñe a la gente a obedecerlos, será considerado el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos. Pero el que los obedezca y enseñe a otros a hacer lo mismo, será considerado grande en el reino de los cielos.Una justicia superior
20 “Porque os digo que si no superáis a los maestros de la ley y a los fariseost en hacer lo que es justo delante de Dios,t no entraréis en el reino de los cielos.1. El homicidio
(Lc 12.57-59)
21 “Habéis oído que a vuestros antepasados se les dijo: ‘No mates,t pues el que mata será condenado.’
22 Pero yo os digo que todo el que se enoje con su hermanot será condenado; el que insultet a su hermano será juzgado por la Junta Suprema,t y el que injurie gravementet a su hermano se hará merecedor del fuego del infierno.t t
23 “Así que, si al llevar tu ofrenda al altar te acuerdas de que tu hermano tiene algo contra ti,
24 deja tu ofrenda allí mismo delante del altar y ve primero a ponerte en paz con tu hermano. Entonces podrás volver al altar y presentar tu ofrenda.
25 “Si alguien quiere llevarte a juicio, procura ponerte de acuerdo con él mientras aún estés a tiempo, para que no te entregue al juez; porque si no, el juez te entregará a los guardias y te meterán en la cárcel.
26 Te aseguro que no saldrás de allí hasta que pagues el último céntimo.t t2. El adulterio
27 “Habéis oído que antes se dijo: ‘No cometas adulterio.’t
28 Pero yo os digo que cualquiera que mira con codicia a una mujer ya cometió adulterio con ella en su corazón.
29 “Por tanto, si tu ojo derecho te hace caer en pecado, sácalo y échalo lejos de ti; mejor es que pierdas una sola parte del cuerpo y no que todo tu cuerpo sea arrojado al infierno.
30 Y si tu mano derecha te hace caer en pecado, córtala y échala lejos de ti; mejor es que pierdas una sola parte del cuerpo y no que todo tu cuerpo sea arrojado al infierno.t3. El divorcio

31 “También se dijo: ‘Cualquiera que se separe de su esposa deberá darle un certificado de separación.’t
32 Pero yo os digo que todo aquel que se separa de su esposa, a no ser en caso de inmoralidad sexual,t la pone en peligro de cometer adulterio. Y el que se casa con una mujer separada también comete adulterio.4. El juramento
33 “También habéis oído que se dijo a los antepasados: ‘No dejes de cumplir lo que hayas ofrecido bajo juramento al Señor.’t 34 Pero yo os digo que no juréis por nada ni por nadie. No juréis por el cielo, porque es el trono de Dios; 35 ni por la tierra, porque es el estrado de sus pies;t ni por Jerusalén, porque es la ciudad del gran Rey.t 36 Ni siquiera juréis por vuestra propia cabeza, porque no podéis hacer que os salga blanco o negro ni un solo cabello.
37 Si decís ‘Sí’, que sea sí; y si decís ‘No’, que sea no. Lo que se aparta de esto, es malo.t t5. La venganza

38 “Habéis oído que antes se dijo: ‘Ojo por ojo y diente por diente.’t 39 Pero yo os digo: No resistáis a quien os haga algún daño. Al contrario, si alguien te pega en la mejilla derecha, ofrécele también la otra.t 40 Si alguien te demanda y te quiere quitar la túnica, déjale también la capa.t 41 Y si alguien te obliga a llevar carga una milla, ve con él dos.t
42 Al que te pida algo, dáselo; y no le vuelvas la espalda a quien te pida prestado.t6. El amor a los enemigos
(Lc 6.27-28, 32-36)
43 “También habéis oído que antes se dijo: ‘Ama a tu prójimo y odia a tu enemigo.’t 44 Pero yo os digo: Amad a vuestros enemigos y orad por los que os persiguen.t 45 Así seréis hijos de vuestro Padret que está en el cielo, pues él hace que su sol salga sobre malos y buenos, y envía la lluvia sobre justos e injustos. 46 Porque si amáis solamente a quienes os aman, ¿qué recompensa tendréis? ¡Hasta los que cobran impuestos para Romat se portan así! 47 Y si saludáis solamente a vuestros hermanos, ¿qué hacéis de extraordinario? ¡Hasta los paganos se portan así! 48 Vosotros, pues, sed perfectos, como vuestro Padre que está en el cielo es perfecto.t
Matthew 5
The Beatitudes
1 Whent he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain.ts After he sat down his disciples came to him.
2 Thent he began to teacht them by saying:
3 “Blesseds are the poor in spirit,s for the kingdom of heaven belongss to them.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.s
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hungers and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the childrent of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
11 “Blessed are you when peoplet insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falselys on account of me.
12 Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.
Salt and Light
13 “You are the salts of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor,s how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Peoplet do not light a lamp and put it under a baskett but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.
Fulfillment of the Law and Prophets
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them.t18 It tell you the truth,t until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letterts will pass from the law until everything takes place.19 So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches otherst to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the lawt and the Pharisees,s you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Anger and Murder
21 “You have heard that it was said to an older generation,t ‘Do not murder,’s and ‘whoever murders will be subjected to judgment.’22 But I say to you that anyone who is angry with a brothers will be subjected to judgment. And whoever insultst a brother will be brought beforet the council,t and whoever says ‘Fool’t will be sentt to fiery hell.ts23 So then, if you bring your gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother and then come and present your gift.25 Reach agreementt quickly with your accuser while on the way to court,t or het may hand you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the warden, and you will be thrown into prison.
26 I tell you the truth,t you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny!ts
Adultery
27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’s28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to desire her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away! It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into hell.s
30 If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into hell.
Divorce
31 “It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’s
32 But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
Oaths
33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to an older generation,t ‘Do not break an oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.’s34 But I say to you, do not take oaths at all – not by heaven, because it is the throne of God,35 not by earth, because it is his footstool, and not by Jerusalem,s because it is the city of the great King.36 Do not take an oath by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black.
37 Let your word be ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no.’ More than this is from the evil one.t
Retaliation
38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’s39 But I say to you, do not resist the evildoer.t But whoever strikes you on thes right cheek, turn the other to him as well.40 And if someone wants to sue you and to take your tunic,t give him your coat also.41 And if anyone forces you to go one mile,s go with him two.
42 Give to the one who asks you,s and do not rejectt the one who wants to borrow from you.
Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’s and ‘hate your enemy.’44 But I say to you, love your enemy ands pray for those who persecute you,45 so that you may be liket your Father in heaven, since he causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax collectorss do the same, don’t they?47 And if you only greet your brothers, what more do you do? Even the Gentiles do the same, don’t they?
48 So then, be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.s
