Le « Sermon sur la montagne »
Mc 3.13 ; Lc 6.12-13
1 tVoyant les foules, il monta sur la montagne, il s’assit, et ses disciples vinrent à lui.
2 tPuis il prit la parole et se mit à les instruire :Bonheurs
Lc 6.20-26
3 tHeureux les pauvres en esprit,
car le royaume des cieux est à eux !
4 tHeureux ceux qui pleurent,
car ils seront consolés !
5 tHeureux ceux qui sont doux,
car ils hériteront la terre !
6 tHeureux ceux qui ont faim et soif de justice,
car ils seront rassasiés !
7 tHeureux ceux qui sont compatissants,
car ils obtiendront compassion !
8 tHeureux ceux qui ont le cœur pur,
car ils verront Dieu !
9 tHeureux les artisans de paix,
car ils seront appelés fils de Dieu !
10 tHeureux ceux qui sont persécutés à cause de la justice,
car le royaume des cieux est à eux !
11 tHeureux êtes-vous lorsqu’on vous insulte, qu’on vous persécute et qu’on répand faussement sur vous toutes sortes de méchancetés, à cause de moi.
12 tRéjouissez-vous et soyez transportés d’allégresse, parce que votre récompense est grande dans les cieux ; car c’est ainsi qu’on a persécuté les prophètes qui vous ont précédés.Sel de la terre et lumière du monde

13 tC’est vous qui êtes le sel de la terre. Mais si le sel devient fade, avec quoi le salera-t-on ? Il n’est plus bon qu’à être jeté dehors et foulé aux pieds par les gens.Mc 4.21 ; Lc 8.16 ; 11.33
14 tC’est vous qui êtes la lumière du monde. Une ville située sur une montagne ne peut être cachée. 15 tOn n’allume pas une lampe pour la mettre sous le boisseau, mais on la met sur le porte-lampe, et elle brille pour tous ceux qui sont dans la maison.
16 tQue votre lumière brille ainsi devant les gens, afin qu’ils voient vos belles œuvres et glorifient votre Père qui est dans les cieux.Jésus et la Loi
17 tNe pensez pas que je sois venu pour abolir la Loi ou les Prophètes. Je ne suis pas venu pour abolir, mais pour accomplir. 18 tAmen, je vous le dis, en effet, jusqu’à ce que le ciel et la terre passent, pas un seul iota ou un seul trait de lettre de la Loi ne passera, jusqu’à ce que tout soit arrivé.
19 tCelui donc qui violera l’un de ces plus petits commandements et qui enseignera aux gens à faire de même sera appelé le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux, mais celui qui les mettra en pratique et les enseignera, celui-là sera appelé grand dans le royaume des cieux.
20 tCar, je vous le dis, si votre justice ne surpasse pas celle des scribes et des pharisiens, vous n’entrerez jamais dans le royaume des cieux.Offense et réconciliation

21 tVous avez entendu qu’il a été dit aux anciens :Tu ne commettras pas de meurtre ; celui qui commet un meurtre sera passible du jugement.
22 tMais moi, je vous dis : Quiconque se met en colère contre son frère sera passible du jugement. Celui qui traitera son frère deraka sera passible du sanhédrin. Celui qui le traitera de fou sera passible de la géhenne de feu.
23 tSi donc tu vas présenter ton offrande sur l’autel, et que là tu te souviennes que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi,
24 laisse ton offrande là, devant l’autel, et va d’abord te réconcilier avec ton frère, puis viens présenter ton offrande.
25 tArrange-toi vite avec ton adversaire, pendant que tu es encore en chemin avec lui, de peur que l’adversaire ne te livre au juge, le juge au garde, et que tu ne sois mis en prison.
26 tAmen, je te le dis, tu ne sortiras pas de là avant d’avoir payé jusqu’au dernier quadrant.L’adultère et les pièges pour la foi

27 tVous avez entendu qu’il a été dit :Tu ne commettras pas d’adultère. 28 tMais moi, je vous dis : Quiconque regarde une femme de façon à la désirer a déjà commis l’adultère avec elle dans son cœur. 29 tSi ton œil droit doit causer ta chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi. Car il est avantageux pour toi de perdre seulement une partie de ton corps et que celui-ci ne soit pas jeté tout entier dans la géhenne.

32 tMais moi, je vous dis : Quiconque répudie sa femme – sauf en cas d’inconduite sexuelle – la rend adultère, et celui qui épouse une femme répudiée commet l’adultère.Les serments
33 tVous avez encore entendu qu’il a été dit aux anciens : Tu ne te parjureras pas, mais tu t’acquitteras envers le Seigneur de tes serments. 34 tMais moi, je vous dis de ne pas jurer du tout : ni par le ciel, parce que c’est le trône de Dieu, 35 tni par la terre, parce que c’est son marchepied, ni par Jérusalem, parce que c’est la ville du grand roi. 36 tNe jure pas non plus par ta tête, car tu ne peux en rendre un seul cheveu blanc ou noir.
37 tQue votre parole soit « oui, oui », « non, non » ; ce qu’on y ajoute vient du Mauvais.La vengeance

38 tVous avez entendu qu’il a été dit :Œil pour œil, etdent pour dent. 39 tMais moi, je vous dis de ne pas vous opposer au mauvais. Si quelqu’un te frappe sur la joue droite, tends-lui aussi l’autre. 40 tSi quelqu’un veut te faire un procès pour te prendre ta tunique, laisse-lui aussi ton vêtement. 41 tSi quelqu’un te réquisitionne pour faire un mille, fais-en deux avec lui.
42 tDonne à celui qui te demande, et ne te détourne pas de celui qui veut t’emprunter quelque chose.L’amour et les ennemis

43 tVous avez entendu qu’il a été dit :Tu aimeras ton prochain et tu détesteras ton ennemi. 44 tMais moi, je vous dis : Aimez vos ennemis et priez pour ceux qui vous persécutent. 45 tAlors vous serez fils de votre Père qui est dans les cieux, car il fait lever son soleil sur les mauvais et sur les bons, et il fait pleuvoir sur les justes et sur les injustes. 46 tEn effet, si vous aimez ceux qui vous aiment, quelle récompense aurez-vous ? Les collecteurs des taxes eux-mêmes n’en font-ils pas autant ? 47 tEt si vous ne saluez que vos frères, que faites-vous d’extraordinaire ? Les non-Juifs eux-mêmes n’en font-ils pas autant ? 48 tVous serez donc parfaits, comme votre Père céleste est parfait.

1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain: and when he had sat down, his disciples came unto him:2 and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11 Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men.14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid.15 Neither do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house.16 Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil.18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass away from the law, till all things be accomplished.19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20 For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.
21 Ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:22 but I say unto you, that every one who is angry with his brother shall be in danger of the judgment; and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council; and whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell of fire.23 If therefore thou art offering thy gift at the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath aught against thee,24 leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way, first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, while thou art with him in the way; lest haply the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.26 Verily I say unto thee, thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou have paid the last farthing.
27 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:28 but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.29 And if thy right eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.30 And if thy right hand causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body go into hell.31 It was said also, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:32 but I say unto you, that every one that putteth away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, maketh her an adulteress: and whosoever shall marry her when she is put away committeth adultery.
33 Again, ye have heard that it was said to them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:34 but I say unto you, swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is the throne of God;35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, for thou canst not make one hair white or black.37 But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one.
38 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:39 but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.40 And if any man would go to law with thee, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy:44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you;45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.46 For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same?48 Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
