마태복음서 5

산상 설교

(마 5-7)

1  t 예수께서 무리를 보시고, 산에 올라가 앉으시니, 제자들이 그에게 나아왔다. 2 t예수께서 입을 열어서 그들을 가르치셨다.

복이 있는 사람

(눅 6:20-23)

3 “t마음이 가난한 사람은 복이 있다. 하늘 나라가 그들의 것이다.

4 슬퍼하는 사람은 복이 있다. 하나님이 그들을 위로하실 것이다.

5 온유한 사람은 복이 있다. 그들이 땅을 차지할 것이다.

6 의에 주리고 목마른 사람은 복이 있다. 그들이 배부를 것이다.

7 자비한 사람은 복이 있다. 하나님이 그들을 자비롭게 대하실 것이다.

8 마음이 깨끗한 사람은 복이 있다. 그들이 하나님을 볼 것이다.

9 평화를 이루는 사람은 복이 있다. 하나님이 그들을 자기의 t자녀라고 부르실 것이다.

10 의를 위하여 박해를 받은 사람은 복이 있다. 하늘 나라가 그들의 것이다.

11 너희가 나 때문에 모욕을 당하고, 박해를 받고, t터무니없는 말로 온갖 비난을 받으면, 복이 있다. 12 너희는 기뻐하고 즐거워하여라. 하늘에서 받을 너희의 상이 크기 때문이다. 너희보다 먼저 온 예언자들도 이와 같이 박해를 받았다.”

소금과 빛

(막 9:50; 눅 14:34-35)

13 “너희는 세상의 소금이다. 소금이 짠 맛을 잃으면, 무엇으로 그 짠 맛을 되찾게 하겠느냐? 짠 맛을 잃은 소금은 아무데도 쓸 데가 없으므로, 바깥에 내버려서 사람들이 짓밟을 뿐이다. 14 너희는 세상의 빛이다. 산 위에 세운 마을은 숨길 수 없다. 15 또 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래에다 내려놓지 아니하고, 등경 위에다 놓아둔다. 그래야 등불이 집 안에 있는 모든 사람에게 환히 비친다. 16 이와 같이, 너희 빛을 사람에게 비추어서, 그들이 너희의 착한 행실을 보고, 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하여라.”

율법에 대한 교훈

17 “내가 율법이나 예언자들의 말을 폐하러 온 줄로 생각하지 말아라. 폐하러 온 것이 아니라, 완성하러 왔다. 18 내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 천지가 없어지기 전에는 율법은 t일점 일획도 없어지지 않고, 다 이루어질 것이다. 19 그러므로 누구든지 이 계명 가운데 아주 작은 것 하나라도 t어기고 사람들을 그렇게 가르치는 사람은, 하늘 나라에서 아주 작은 사람으로 일컬어질 것이요, 또 누구든지 계명을 행하며 가르치는 사람은, 하늘 나라에서 큰 사람이라고 일컬어질 것이다. 20 내가 너희에게 말한다. 너희의 의가 율법학자들과 바리새파 사람들의 의보다 낫지 않으면, 너희는 하늘나라에 들어가지 못할 것이다.”

분노에 대한 교훈

21 “옛 사람들에게 말하기를 t‘살인하지 말아라. 누구든지 살인하는 사람은 재판을 받아야 할 것이다’ 한 것을 너희는 들었다. 22 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 자기 t형제나 자매에게 성내는 사람은, 누구나 심판을 받는다. 자기 t형제나 자매에게 t얼간이라고 말하는 사람은, 누구나 공의회에 불려갈 것이요, 또 바보라고 말하는 사람은 t지옥 불 속에 던져질 것이다. 23 그러므로 네가 제단에 제물을 드리려고 하다가, t네 형제나 자매가 네게 어떤 원한을 품고 있다는 생각이 나거든, 24 너는 그 제물을 제단 앞에 놓아두고, 먼저 가서 t네 형제나 자매와 화해하여라. 그런 다음에 돌아와서 제물을 드려라. 25 너를 고소하는 사람과 함께 법정으로 갈 때에는, 도중에 얼른 그와 화해하도록 하여라. 그렇지 않으면, 고소하는 사람이 너를 재판관에게 넘겨주고, 재판관은 형무소 관리에게 넘겨주어서, 그가 너를 감옥에 집어넣을 것이다. 26 내가 진정으로 너희에게 말한다. 너희가 마지막 한 t푼까지 다 갚기 전에는, 거기에서 나오지 못할 것이다.”

음욕과 간음

27 “t‘간음하지 말아라’ 하고 말한 것을, 너희는 들었다. 28 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 여자를 보고 음욕을 품는 사람은 이미 마음으로 그 여자를 범하였다. 29 네 오른 눈이 너로 하여금 죄를 짓게 하거든, 빼서 내버려라. 신체의 한 부분을 잃는 것이, 온 몸이 t지옥에 던져지는 것보다 더 낫다. 30 또 네 오른손이 너로 하여금 죄를 짓게 하거든, 찍어서 내버려라. 신체의 한 부분을 잃는 것이, 온몸이 t지옥에 던져지는 것보다 더 낫다.”

이혼과 간음

(마 19:9; 막 10:11-12; 눅 16:18)

31 “t‘누구든지 아내를 버리려는 사람은 그에게 이혼 증서를 써주어라’ 하고 말하였다. 32 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 음행을 한 경우를 제외하고 아내를 버리는 사람은 그 여자를 간음하게 하는 것이요, 또 버림받은 여자와 결혼하는 사람은 누구든지 간음하는 것이다.”

맹세에 대한 교훈

33 “옛 사람들에게 말하기를 t‘너는 거짓 맹세를 하지 말아야 하고, 네가 맹세한 것은 그대로 주님께 지켜야 한다’ 한 것을, 너희는 또한 들었다. 34 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 아예 맹세하지 말아라. 하늘을 두고도 맹세하지 말아라. 그것은 하나님의 보좌이기 때문이다. 35 땅을 두고도 맹세하지 말아라. 그것은 하나님께서 발을 놓으시는 발판이기 때문이다. 예루살렘을 두고도 맹세하지 말아라. 그것은 크신 임금님의 도성이기 때문이다. 36 네 머리를 두고도 맹세하지 말아라. 너는 머리카락 하나라도 희게 하거나 검게 할 수 없기 때문이다. 37 너희는 ‘예’ 할 때에는 ‘예’라는 말만 하고, ‘아니오’ 할 때에는 ‘아니오’라는 말만 하여라. 이보다 지나치는 것은 t악에서 나오는 것이다.”

보복하지 말아라

(눅 6:29-30)

38 “t‘눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚아라’ 하고 말한 것을 너희는 들었다. 39 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 악한 사람에게 맞서지 말아라. 누가 네 오른쪽 뺨을 치거든, 왼쪽 뺨마저 돌려 대어라. 40 너를 걸어 고소하여 네 속옷을 가지려는 사람에게는, 겉옷까지도 내주어라. 41 누가 너더러 억지로 오 리를 가자고 하거든, 십 리를 같이 가 주어라. 42 네게 달라는 사람에게는 주고, 네게 꾸려고 하는 사람을 물리치지 말아라.”

원수를 사랑하여라

(눅 6:27-28, 32-36)

43 “t‘네 이웃을 사랑하고, 네 원수를 미워하여라’ 하고 말한 것을 너희는 들었다. 44 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다. 너희 원수를 사랑하고, 너희를 박해하는 사람을 위하여 기도하여라. 45 그래야만 너희가 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 t자녀가 될 것이다. 아버지께서는, 악한 사람에게나 선한 사람에게나 똑같이 해를 떠오르게 하시고, 의로운 사람에게나 불의한 사람에게나 똑같이 비를 내려주신다. 46 너희를 사랑하는 사람만 너희가 사랑하면, 무슨 상을 받겠느냐? 세리도 그만큼은 하지 않느냐? 47 또 너희가 너희 t형제자매들에게만 인사를 하면서 지내면, 남보다 나을 것이 무엇이냐? 이방 사람들도 그만큼은 하지 않느냐? 48 그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 완전하신 것 같이, 너희도 완전하여라.”

MATTHEW 5

The Sermon on the Mount

1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on the side of a mountain and sat down.t

Blessings

(Luke 6.20-23)

Jesus' disciples gathered around him,

2 and he taught them:

3 God blesses those people
who depend only on him.
They belong to the kingdom
of heaven!t

4  t God blesses those people
who grieve.
They will find comfort!

5  t God blesses those people
who are humble.
The earth will belong
to them!

6  t God blesses those people
who want to obey himt
more than to eat or drink.
They will be given
what they want!

7 God blesses those people
who are merciful.
They will be treated
with mercy!

8  t God blesses those people
whose hearts are pure.
They will see him!

9 God blesses those people
who make peace.
They will be called
his children!

10  t God blesses those people
who are treated badly
for doing right.
They belong to the kingdom
of heaven.t
11  t God will bless you when people insult you, mistreat you, and tell all kinds of evil lies about you because of me.

12 t Be happy and excited! You will have a great reward in heaven. People did these same things to the prophets who lived long ago.

Salt and Light

(Mark 9.50; Luke 14.34,35)

13  t You are the salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.
14  t You are the light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, 15 t and no one lights a lamp and puts it under a clay pot. Instead, it is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house.

16 t Make your light shine, so others will see the good you do and will praise your Father in heaven.

The Law of Moses

17 Don't suppose I came to do away with the Law and the Prophets.t I did not come to do away with them, but to give them their full meaning.

18 t Heaven and earth may disappear. But I promise you not even a period or comma will ever disappear from the Law. Everything written in it must happen.
19 If you reject even the least important command in the Law and teach others to do the same, you will be the least important person in the kingdom of heaven. But if you obey and teach others its commands, you will have an important place in the kingdom.

20 You must obey God's commands better than the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law obey them. If you don't, I promise you will never get into the kingdom of heaven.

Anger

21  t You know our ancestors were told, “Do not murder” and “A murderer must be brought to trial.”

22 But I promise you if you are angry with someone, t you will have to stand trial. If you call someone a fool, you will be taken to court. And if you say that someone is worthless, you will be in danger of the fires of hell.
23 So if you are about to place your gift on the altar and remember that someone is angry with you,

24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. Make peace with that person, then come back and offer your gift to God.
25 Before you are dragged into court, make friends with the person who has accused you of doing wrong. If you don't, you will be handed over to the judge and then to the officer who will put you in jail.

26 I promise you will not get out until you have paid the last cent you owe.

Marriage

27  t You know the commandment which says, “Be faithful in marriage.” 28 But I tell you if you look at another woman and want her, you are already unfaithful in your thoughts. 29 t If your right eye causes you to sin, poke it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to end up in hell.

30 t If your right hand causes you to sin, chop it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one part of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Divorce

(Matthew 19.9; Mark 10.11,12; Luke 16.18)

31  t You have been taught that a man who divorces his wife must write out divorce papers for her.t

32 t But I tell you not to divorce your wife unless she has committed some terrible sexual sin.t If you divorce her, you will cause her to be unfaithful, just as any man who marries her is guilty of taking another man's wife.

Promises

33  t You know our ancestors were told, “Don't use the Lord's name to make a promise unless you are going to keep it.” 34 t But I tell you not to swear by anything when you make a promise! Heaven is God's throne, so don't swear by heaven. 35 t The earth is God's footstool, so don't swear by the earth. Jerusalem is the city of the great king, so don't swear by it. 36 Don't swear by your own head. You cannot make one hair white or black.

37 When you make a promise, say only “Yes” or “No.” Anything else comes from the devil.

Revenge

(Luke 6.29,30)

38  t You know you have been taught, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” 39 But I tell you not to try to get even with a person who has done something to you. When someone slaps your right cheek, t turn and let that person slap your other cheek. 40 If someone sues you for your shirt, give up your coat as well. 41 If a soldier forces you to carry his pack one kilometer , carry it two kilometers .t

42 When people ask you for something, give it to them. When they want to borrow money, lend it to them.

Love

(Luke 6.27,28,32-36)

43  t You have heard people say, “Love your neighbors and hate your enemies.” 44 But I tell you to love your enemies and pray for anyone who mistreats you. 45 t Then you will be acting like your Father in heaven. He makes the sun rise on both good and bad people. And he sends rain for the ones who do right and for the ones who do wrong. 46 If you love only those people who love you, will God reward you for this? Even tax collectorst love their friends. 47 If you greet only your friends, what's so great about this? Don't even unbelievers do that? 48 t But you must always act like your Father in heaven.
