มัทธิว 6

1 "จงระวังให้ดี ท่านอย่าทำทานต่อหน้ามนุษย์เพื่อจะให้เขาเห็น มิฉะนั้นท่านจะไม่ได้รับบำเหน็จจากพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์2 เหตุฉะนั้น เมื่อท่านทำทาน อย่าเป่าแตรข้างหน้าท่านเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคดกระทำในธรรมศาลาและตามถนน เพื่อจะได้รับการสรรเสริญจากมนุษย์ เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว3 ฝ่ายท่านทั้งหลายเมื่อทำทาน อย่าให้มือซ้ายรู้การซึ่งมือขวากระทำนั้น4 เพื่อทานของท่านจะเป็นการลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับ พระองค์เองจะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านอย่างเปิดเผย5 เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายอธิษฐาน อย่าเป็นเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะเขาชอบยืนอธิษฐานในธรรมศาลาและที่มุมถนน เพื่อจะให้คนทั้งปวงได้เห็น เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว6 ฝ่ายท่านเมื่ออธิษฐานจงเข้าในห้องชั้นใน และเมื่อปิดประตูแล้ว จงอธิษฐานต่อพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในที่ลี้ลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับจะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านอย่างเปิดเผย7 แต่เมื่อท่านอธิษฐาน อย่าใช้คำซ้ำซากไร้ประโยชน์เหมือนคนต่างชาติ เพราะเขาคิดว่าพูดมากหลายคำ พระจึงจะทรงโปรดฟัง8 เหตุฉะนั้นท่านอย่าเป็นเหมือนเขาเลย เพราะว่าสิ่งไรซึ่งท่านต้องการ พระบิดาของท่านทรงทราบก่อนที่ท่านทูลขอแล้ว9 เหตุฉะนั้น ท่านทั้งหลายจงอธิษฐานตามอย่างนี้ว่า ข้าแต่พระบิดาของข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลาย ผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ ขอให้พระนามของพระองค์เป็นที่เคารพสักการะ10 ขอให้อาณาจักรของพระองค์มาตั้งอยู่ ขอให้เป็นไปตามพระทัยของพระองค์ ในสวรรค์เป็นอย่างไร ก็ให้เป็นไปอย่างนั้นในแผ่นดินโลก11 ขอทรงโปรดประทานอาหารประจำวันแก่ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายในกาลวันนี้12 และขอทรงโปรดยกหนี้ของข้าพระองค์ เหมือนข้าพระองค์ยกหนี้ผู้ที่เป็นหนี้ข้าพระองค์นั้น13 และขออย่านำข้าพระองค์เข้าไปในการทดลอง แต่ขอทรงช่วยข้าพระองค์ให้พ้นจากความชั่วร้าย เหตุว่าอาณาจักรและฤทธิ์เดชและสง่าราศีเป็นของพระองค์สืบๆไปเป็นนิตย์ เอเมน14 เพราะว่าถ้าท่านยกการละเมิดของเพื่อนมนุษย์ พระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์จะทรงโปรดยกโทษให้ท่านด้วย15 แต่ถ้าท่านไม่ยกการละเมิดของเพื่อนมนุษย์ พระบิดาของท่านจะไม่ทรงโปรดยกการละเมิดของท่านเหมือนกัน16 ยิ่งกว่านั้นเมื่อท่านถืออดอาหาร อย่าทำหน้าเศร้าหมองเหมือนคนหน้าซื่อใจคด ด้วยเขาแสร้งทำหน้าให้ผิดปกติ เพื่อจะให้คนเห็นว่าเขาถืออดอาหาร เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า เขาได้รับบำเหน็จของเขาแล้ว17 ฝ่ายท่านเมื่อถืออดอาหาร จงชโลมทาศีรษะและล้างหน้า18 เพื่อท่านจะไม่ปรากฏแก่คนอื่นว่าถืออดอาหาร แต่ให้ปรากฏแก่พระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในที่ลี้ลับ และพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นในที่ลี้ลับ จะทรงโปรดประทานบำเหน็จแก่ท่านอย่างเปิดเผย19 อย่าสะสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัวในโลก ที่ตัวมอดและสนิมอาจทำลายเสียได้ และที่ขโมยอาจขุดช่องลักเอาไปได้20 แต่จงสะสมทรัพย์สมบัติไว้สำหรับตัวในสวรรค์ ที่ตัวมอดและสนิมทำลายเสียไม่ได้ และที่ไม่มีขโมยขุดช่องลักเอาไปได้21 เพราะว่าทรัพย์สมบัติของท่านอยู่ที่ไหน ใจของท่านก็จะอยู่ที่นั่นด้วย22 ตาเป็นประทีปของร่างกาย เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าตาของท่านดี ทั้งตัวก็จะเต็มไปด้วยความสว่าง23 แต่ถ้าตาของท่านชั่ว ทั้งตัวของท่านก็จะเต็มไปด้วยความมืด เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าความสว่างซึ่งอยู่ในตัวท่านมืดไป ความมืดนั้นจะหนาทึบสักเพียงใด24 ไม่มีผู้ใดปรนนิบัตินายสองนายได้ เพราะเขาจะชังนายข้างหนึ่งและจะรักนายอีกข้างหนึ่ง หรือเขาจะนับถือนายฝ่ายหนึ่งและจะดูหมิ่นนายอีกฝ่ายหนึ่ง ท่านจะปรนนิบัติพระเจ้าและเงินทองพร้อมกันไม่ได้25 เหตุฉะนั้น เราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงชีวิตของตนว่า จะเอาอะไรกิน หรือจะเอาอะไรดื่ม และอย่ากระวนกระวายถึงร่างกายของตนว่า จะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม ชีวิตสำคัญยิ่งกว่าอาหารมิใช่หรือ และร่างกายสำคัญยิ่งกว่าเครื่องนุ่งห่มมิใช่หรือ26 จงดูนกในอากาศ มันมิได้หว่าน มิได้เกี่ยว มิได้สะสมไว้ในยุ้งฉาง แต่พระบิดาของท่านทั้งหลายผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ทรงเลี้ยงนกไว้ ท่านทั้งหลายมิประเสริฐกว่านกหรือ27 มีใครในพวกท่าน โดยความกระวนกระวาย อาจต่อความสูงให้ยาวออกไปอีกสักศอกหนึ่งได้หรือ28 ท่านกระวนกระวายถึงเครื่องนุ่งห่มทำไม จงพิจารณาดอกลิลลีที่ทุ่งนาว่า มันงอกงามเจริญขึ้นได้อย่างไร มันไม่ทำงาน มันไม่ปั่นด้าย29 และเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ซาโลมอนเมื่อบริบูรณ์ด้วยสง่าราศีของท่าน ก็มิได้ทรงเครื่องงามเท่าดอกไม้นี้ดอกหนึ่ง30 เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้าพระเจ้าทรงตกแต่งหญ้าที่ทุ่งนาอย่างนั้น ซึ่งเป็นอยู่วันนี้และรุ่งขึ้นต้องทิ้งในเตาไฟ โอ ผู้มีความเชื่อน้อย พระองค์จะไม่ทรงตกแต่งท่านมากยิ่งกว่านั้นหรือ31 เหตุฉะนั้น อย่ากระวนกระวายว่า เราจะเอาอะไรกิน หรือจะเอาอะไรดื่ม หรือจะเอาอะไรนุ่งห่ม32 (เพราะว่าพวกต่างชาติแสวงหาสิ่งของทั้งปวงนี้) แต่ว่าพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ทรงทราบแล้วว่า ท่านต้องการสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้33 แต่ท่านทั้งหลายจงแสวงหาอาณาจักรของพระเจ้า และความชอบธรรมของพระองค์ก่อน แล้วพระองค์จะทรงเพิ่มเติมสิ่งทั้งปวงเหล่านี้ให้แก่ท่าน34 เหตุฉะนั้น อย่ากระวนกระวายถึงพรุ่งนี้ เพราะว่าพรุ่งนี้ก็จะมีการกระวนกระวายสำหรับพรุ่งนี้เอง แต่ละวันก็มีทุกข์พออยู่แล้ว"

Matthew 6

1 Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.2 When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:4 that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.

5 And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.7 And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.8 Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.9 After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.11 Give us this day our daily bread.12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.13 And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward.17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;18 that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:21 for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.22 The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness!24 No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.25 Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment?26 Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they?27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life?28 And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:29 yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.30 But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?31 Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?32 For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33 But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
