Mujeres que heredan terreno

1  Luego los jefes de los clanes de Galaad —descendientes de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, hijo de José— se presentaron ante Moisés y los líderes de las familias de Israel con una petición.

2 Dijeron a Moisés:
—El SEÑOR te dijo que repartieras la tierra entre el pueblo de Israel por sorteo sagrado. El SEÑOR te dijo que la porción de tierra que pertenece a nuestro hermano Zelofehad se la dieras a sus hijas. 3 Sin embargo, si ellas se casan con hombres de otra tribu, llevarán consigo sus porciones de tierra a la tribu de los hombres con quienes se casen. De esa manera, el área total de la tierra de nuestra tribu se reducirá. 4 Entonces cuando llegue el año de jubileo, esa porción de tierra se agregará a esa nueva tribu, y provocará que nuestra tribu patriarcal la pierda para siempre.

5 Así que Moisés les dio a los israelitas, de parte del SEÑOR, el siguiente mandato:
—El reclamo de los hombres de la tribu de José es legítimo. 6 Esto es lo que el SEÑOR ordena acerca de las hijas de Zelofehad: permítanles casarse con quienes deseen, siempre y cuando sea alguien de su propia tribu patriarcal. 7 No se permite que ninguna tierra se transfiera de una tribu a otra, ya que toda la tierra asignada a cada tribu debe permanecer dentro de la tribu a la que inicialmente fue concedida. 8 Las hijas de todas las tribus de Israel que estén en línea para heredar la propiedad, deben casarse dentro de su propia tribu, de esta manera todos los israelitas conservarán sus propiedades patriarcales. 9 Ninguna porción de tierra puede pasar de una tribu a otra; cada tribu de Israel debe conservar la porción de tierra que le fue asignada.

10 Entonces las hijas de Zelofehad hicieron lo que el SEÑOR le ordenó a Moisés. 11 Maala, Tirsa, Hogla, Milca y Noa, todas se casaron con sus primos por parte de su padre 12 dentro de los clanes de Manasés, hijo de José. De este modo, su herencia de tierra permaneció dentro de su tribu patriarcal.

13 Estos son los mandatos y las ordenanzas que el SEÑOR le dio al pueblo de Israel por medio de Moisés mientras acampaban en las llanuras de Moab junto al río Jordán, frente a Jericó.

NUMBERS 36

The Laws //about Married Women //and Land

1 One day the family leaders from the Gilead clan of the Manasseh tribe went to Moses and the other family leaders of Israel 2 t and said, “Sir, the [Lord] has said that he will showt what land each tribe will receive as their own. And the [Lord] has commanded you to give the daughters of our relative Zelophehadt the land that he would have received. 3 But if they marry men from other tribes of Israel, the land they receive will become part of that tribe's inheritance and will no longer belong to us.

4 Even when land is returned to its original owner in the Year of Celebration, t we will not get back Zelophehad's land—it will belong to the tribe into which his daughters married.”

5 So Moses told the people that the [Lord] had said:
These men from the Manasseh tribe are right.

6 I will allow Zelophehad's daughters to marry anyone, as long as those men belong to one of the clans of the Manasseh tribe.
7 Tribal land must not be given to another tribe—it will remain the property of the tribe that received it.

8-9 In the future, any daughter who inherits land must marry someone from her own tribe. Israel's tribal land is never to be passed from one tribe to another.
10-11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah the daughters of Zelophehad obeyed the [Lord] and married their uncles' sons

12 and remained part of the Manasseh tribe. So their land stayed in their father's clan.
13 These are the laws that the [Lord] gave to Moses and the Israelites while they were camped in the lowlands of Moab across the Jordan River from Jericho.
