1 Und es traten herzu die Häupter der Väter vom Geschlecht der Söhne Gileads, des Sohnes Makirs, des Sohnes Manasses, aus den Geschlechtern der Söhne Josephs; und sie redeten vor Mose und vor den Fürsten, den Häuptern der Väter der Kinder Israel, und sprachen:2 Jehova hat meinem Herrn geboten, den Kindern Israel das Land durchs Los als Erbteil zu geben; und meinem Herrn ist von Jehova geboten worden, das Erbteil Zelophchads, unseres Bruders, seinen Töchtern zu geben.3 Werden sie nun einem von den Söhnen der anderen Stämme der Kinder Israel zu Weibern, so wird ihr Erbteil dem Erbteil unserer Väter entzogen und zu dem Erbteil des Stammes hinzugefügt werden, welchem sie angehören werden; und dem Lose unseres Erbteils wird es entzogen werden.4 Und auch wenn das Jubeljahr der Kinder Israel kommt, wird ihr Erbteil zu dem Erbteil des Stammes hinzugefügt werden, welchem sie angehören werden; und ihr Erbteil wird dem Erbteil des Stammes unserer Väter entzogen werden.5 Da gebot Mose den Kindern Israel, nach dem Befehle Jehovas, und sprach: Der Stamm der Kinder Joseph redet recht.6 Dies ist das Wort, welches Jehova betreffs der Töchter Zelophchads geboten hat, indem er sprach: Sie mögen dem, der in ihren Augen gut ist, zu Weibern werden; nur sollen sie einem aus dem Geschlecht des Stammes ihres Vaters zu Weibern werden,7 damit nicht ein Erbteil der Kinder Israel von Stamm zu Stamm übergehe; denn die Kinder Israel sollen ein jeder dem Erbteil des Stammes seiner Väter anhangen.8 Und jede Tochter, die ein Erbteil aus den Stämmen der Kinder Israel besitzt, soll einem aus dem Geschlecht des Stammes ihres Vaters zum Weibe werden, damit die Kinder Israel ein jeder das Erbteil seiner Väter besitzen,9 und nicht ein Erbteil von einem Stamme auf einen anderen Stamm übergehe. Denn die Stämme der Kinder Israel sollen ein jeder seinem Erbteil anhangen.10 So wie Jehova dem Mose geboten hatte, also taten die Töchter Zelophchads.11 Und Machla, Tirza und Chogla und Milka und Noa, die Töchter Zelophchads, wurden den Söhnen ihrer Oheime zu Weibern.12 Männern aus den Geschlechtern der Kinder Manasse, des Sohnes Josephs, wurden sie zu Weibern. Und so verblieb ihr Erbteil bei dem Stamme des Geschlechts ihres Vaters.13 Das sind die Gebote und die Rechte, welche Jehova in den Ebenen Moabs, am Jordan von Jericho, den Kindern Israel durch Mose geboten hat.

Women and Land Inheritance
1 Then the heads of the family groupst of the Gileadites, the descendant of Machir, the descendant of Manasseh, who were from the Josephite families, approached and spoke before Mosest and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families.t2 They said, “The Lord commanded my lord to givet the land as an inheritance by lot to the Israelites; and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.3 Now if they should be married to one of the ment from another Israelite tribe, their inheritance would be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry.t As a result, it will be taken from the lot of our inheritance.
4 And when the Jubilee of the Israelites is to take place,t their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe into which they marry. So their inheritance will be taken away from the inheritance of our ancestral tribe.”t
Moses’ Decision
5 Then Moses gave a rulingt to the Israelites by the wordt of the Lord: “What the tribe of the Josephites is saying is right.6 This is whatt the Lord has commanded for Zelophehad’s daughters: ‘Let them marryt whomever they think best,t only they must marry within the family of their father’s tribe.7 In this way the inheritance of the Israelites will not be transferredt from tribe to tribe. But every one of the Israelites must retain the ancestral heritage.8 And every daughter who possesses an inheritance from any of the tribes of the Israelites must become the wife of a man from any family in her father’s tribe, so that every Israelitet may retain the inheritance of his fathers.
9 No inheritance may pass from tribe to tribe. But every one of the tribes of the Israelites must retain its inheritance.”
10 As the Lord had commanded Moses, so the daughters of Zelophehad did.11 For the daughters of Zelophehad – Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah – were married to the sons of their uncles.t
12 They were married into the families of the Manassehites, the descendants of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of their father’s family.
13 These are the commandments and the decisions that the Lord commanded the Israelites through the authorityt of Moses, on the plains of Moab by the Jordan Rivert opposite Jericho.s
