Introducción (1.1-11)
Saludo
1 Pablo y Timoteo,t siervos de Jesucristo, a todos los que en la ciudad de Filipost forman parte del pueblo santo y están unidos a Cristo Jesús; es decir, a toda la comunidad, con sus obispost y diáconos.t
2 Que Dios nuestro Padre y el Señor Jesucristo derramen su gracia y su paz sobre vosotros.Acción de gracias
3 Siempre, al acordarme de vosotros, doy gracias a mi Dios; 4 y cuando oro, pido siempre con alegríat por todos vosotros, 5 que desde el primer día y hasta hoy os habéis solidarizadot con la causa del evangelio. 6 Estoy seguro de que Dios, que comenzó a hacer en vosotros su buena obra, la irá llevando a buen fint mientras llega el día en que Jesucristo regrese.t 7 Es muy justo que piense así de todos vosotros, porque os tengo mucho cariño y porque participáis conmigo de las mismas bendiciones, ya sea que me encuentre en la cárcelt o que me presente ante las autoridades para defender y confirmar el anuncio del evangelio.t 8 Dios sabe cuánto deseo veros a todos, por el entrañable amor de Jesucristo. 9 Pido en oración que aumente más y más vuestro amor, y que alcancéis mucha sabiduría y entendimiento en todo, 10 para saber escoger siempre lo mejor.t Así podréis vivir una vida limpia y no habrá nada que reprocharos cuando Cristo regrese;t
11 pues entonces presentaréis una abundante cosecha de buenas accionest gracias a Jesucristo, para honra y gloria de Dios.1. El progreso del evangelio (1.12–2.18)
12 Hermanos, quiero que sepáis que mi situación ha venido en realidad a ayudar al anuncio del evangelio. 13 Toda la gente de palacio, y todos los demás, saben que estoy preso por seguir a Cristo.t
14 Y al verme preso, la mayoría de los hermanos se ha animado a anunciar el mensaje, sin miedo y con más confianza en el Señor.
15 Es cierto que algunos anuncian a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad,t pero otros lo hacen con buena intención. 16 Algunos anuncian a Cristo por amor, sabiendo que Dios me ha puesto aquí para defender el evangelio; 17 pero otros, que lo hacen por interés personal, no son sinceros y quieren causarme más dificultades ahora que estoy preso.
18 Pero ¿qué importa? Sea como sea, con sinceridad o sin ella, anuncian a Cristo, y eso me causa alegría.
Y todavía me alegraré más,t 19 pues sé que todo esto será para mi salvación,t gracias a vuestras oraciones y a la ayuda que recibo del Espíritu de Jesucristo. 20 Espero firmemente que Dios no me dejará quedar mal, sino que podré hablar con confianza delante de todos y, ahora como siempre, tanto si estoy vivo como si estoy muerto, Dios mostrará en mí, cada vez más, la grandeza de Cristo.t 21 Porque para mí la vida es Cristo, y la muerte, ganancia.t 22 Pero si viviendo en este cuerpo puedo seguir trabajando para bien de la causa del Señor, entonces no sé qué escoger. 23 Me es difícil decidirme por una de las dos cosas: por un lado, quisiera morirt para ir a estar con Cristo, pues eso sería mucho mejor para mí;t 24 pero, por otro lado, es más necesario por causa vuestra que siga viviendo. 25 Y como estoy convencido de esto, sé que me quedaré todavía con vosotros para ayudaros a seguir adelante y para que tengáis más gozo en vuestra fe.
26 Así me tendréis otra vez entre vosotros como un motivo de satisfacción en Cristo Jesús.tVivir de acuerdo con el evangelio
27 Solo una cosa: procurad que vuestra conducta esté de acuerdo con el evangelio de Cristo.t Así, tanto si voy a veros como si no, quiero recibir noticias de que seguís firmes y muy unidos, luchando todos juntos por la fe que procede del evangelio, 28 sin dejaros intimidar en nada por vuestros enemigos. Esta es una clara señal de que ellos van a su destrucción, y al mismo tiempo es señal de vuestra salvación. Y esto procede de Dios. 29 Pues por causa de Cristo, no solo tenéis el privilegio de creer en él, sino también de sufrir por él. 30 Vosotros y yo sostenemos la misma lucha. Ya visteis antes cómo luché,t y ahora tenéis noticias de cómo sigo luchando.
Philippians 1
Salutation
1 From Pault and Timothy, slavests of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi,s with the overseerss and deacons.
2 Grace and peace to yout from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Prayer for the Church
3 I thank my God every time I remember you.t4 I always pray with joy in my every prayer for all of you5 because of your participations in the gospel from the first day until now.t6 For I am sure of this very thing,t that the onet who began a good work int you will perfect itt until the day of Christ Jesus.7 Fort it is right for me to think this about all of you, because I have you in my heart,t since both in my imprisonmentt and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel all of you became partners in God’s gracet together with me.8 For God is my witness that I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.9 And I pray this, that your love may abound even more and more in knowledge and every kind of insight10 so that you can decide what is best, and thus be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ,
11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God.
Ministry as a Prisoner
12 I want you to know, brothers and sisters,t that my situation has actually turned out to advance the gospel:t13 Thet whole imperial guards and everyone else knowst that I am in prisont for the sake of Christ,
14 and most of the brothers and sisters,t having confidence in the Lordt because of my imprisonment, now more than evert dare to speak the words fearlessly.
15 Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from goodwill.16 The latter do so from love because they know that I am placed here for the defense of the gospel.17 The former proclaim Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, because they think they can cause trouble for me in my imprisonment.t
18 What is the result? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is being proclaimed, and in this I rejoice.
Yes,t and I will continue to rejoice,19 for I know that this will turn out for my deliverancets through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.20 My confident hopet is that I will in no way be ashamedt but that with complete boldness, even now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether I live or die.t21 For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain.22 Now if I am to go on living in the body,t this will mean productive workt for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer:ts23 I feel torn between the two,t because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far,24 but it is more vital for your sake that I remaint in the body.t25 And since I am sure of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for the sake of your progresst and joy in the faith,s
26 so that what you can be proud of may increaset because of me in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you.t
27 Only conduct yourselvests in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ so that – whether I come and see you or whether I remain absent – I should hear thatt you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, by contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,t28 and by not being intimidated in any way by your opponents. This ists a sign of theirts destruction, but of your salvation – a sign whicht is from God.29 For it has been granted to yout not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for him,
30 since you are encounteringt the same conflict that you saw me face and now hear that I am facing.t
