Filipeni 1

1 Pavel și Timotei, robi ai lui Cristos Isus, către toți sfinții în Cristos Isus care sunt în Filipi, împreună cu supraveghetoriit și cu diaconii:2 har și pace de la Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, și de la Domnul Isus Cristos!

Mulțumire și rugăciune

3 Îi mulțumesc Dumnezeului meu de fiecare dată când mă gândesc la voi.4 În toate rugăciunile mele pentru voi toți, mă rog cu bucurie5 pentru părtășia voastră la Evangheliet, din prima zi și până acum,6 și sunt sigur că Acela Care Și-a început în voi buna Sa lucrare o va isprăvi până în ziua lui Cristos Isus.7 Este drept să mă gândesc în acest fel la voi toți, fiindcă vă port în inima mea și, fie că sunt în lanțuri, fie că apăr sau întăresc Evanghelia, toți sunteți părtași ai harului lui Dumnezeu împreună cu mine.8 Căci martor îmi este Dumnezeu că îmi este dor de voi toți cu o afecțiunet ca cea a lui Cristos Isust.9 Mă rog ca dragostea voastră să crească din ce în ce mai mult în cunoaștere și orice pricepere,10 ca să puteți deosebi lucrurile de valoare și să fiți curați și fără pată în ziua lui Isus Cristos,11 plini de rodul dreptății, care vine prin Isus Cristos, spre slava și lauda lui Dumnezeu.

Lanțurile lui Pavel și înaintarea Evangheliei

12 Vreau să știți, fraților, că lucrurile care mi s-au întâmplat au ajutat la înaintarea Evangheliei.13 Astfel, toată garda palatuluit și toți ceilalți știu că eu sunt închis din pricina lui Cristos,14 iar cei mai mulți dintre frați, încurajați în Domnul datorită lanțurilor mele, au și mai mare îndrăzneală să vestească fără teamă Cuvântul.

15 Este adevărat că unii Îl proclamă pe Cristos din invidie și dintr-un spirit de competiție, iar alții din bunăvoință.16 Aceștia din urmă Îl proclamă din dragoste, știind că mie mi-a fost încredințată apărarea Evangheliei.17 Dar ceilalți Îl proclamă pe Cristos din ambiții egoiste, nu din motive sincere, ci intenționând să-mi mărească necazul, în timp ce sunt în lanțuri.18 Dar ce contează? Important este că, fie sub un anume pretext, fie cu adevărat, Cristos este proclamat și de acest lucru mă bucur și mă voi bucura.19 Căci știu că lucrul acesta va duce la eliberarea mea, prin rugăciunile voastre și prin ajutorul Duhului lui Isus Cristos.20 Dorința mea puternică și speranța mea sunt să nu fiu făcut de rușine cu nimic, ci să am, acum și întotdeauna, destul curaj, astfel încât să-L slăvesc pe Cristos în trupul meu, fie prin viața mea, fie prin moartea mea.21 Căci pentru mine a trăi este Cristos, iar a muri este un câștig.22 Dar dacă trebuie să mai trăiesc în trup, aceasta înseamnă o lucrare roditoare pentru mine și nu știu ce să aleg.23 Sunt strâns din două părți: doresc mult să părăsesc această viață și să fiu împreună cu Cristos, pentru că este mult mai bine,24 însă pentru voi este mai bine să rămân în trup.25 Fiind convins de aceasta, știu că voi rămâne cu voi toți, pentru înaintarea și bucuria voastră în credință,26 pentru ca, prin întoarcerea mea la voi, să aveți motive să vă lăudați cu mine în Cristos Isus.

27 Numai trăiți-vă viața într-un mod vrednic de Evanghelia lui Cristos, pentru ca, fie că vin și vă văd, fie că sunt absent, dar aud despre voi, să știu că rămâneți fermi într-un duh, luptând cu un singur gând pentru credința Evangheliei,28 fără să fiți înspăimântați deloc de potrivnicii voștri. Aceasta este o dovadă pentru ei că vor fi nimiciți, dar voi veți fi mântuiți; și Dumnezeu este Cel Care face aceasta.29 Căci vouă vi s-a dat harul nu doar să credeți în Cristos, ci să și suferiți pentru El,30 întrucât aveți de dus aceeași luptă pe care ați văzut că am avut-o și eu, iar acum auziți că încă o mai am.

To all God's people who belong to Christ Jesus at Philippi and to all your bishops and deacons.

2 I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

Paul's Prayer for the Church //in Philippi

6 God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.
7 You have a special place in my heart. So it is only natural for me to feel the way I do. All of you have helped in the work God has given me, as I defend the good news and tell about it here in jail.

8 God himself knows how much I want to see you. He knows I care for you in the same way Christ Jesus does.
9 I pray that your love will keep on growing and you will fully know and understand 10 how to make the right choices. Then you will still be pure and innocent when Christ returns. And until that day,

11 Jesus Christ will keep you busy doing good deeds that bring glory and praise to God.

What Life Means to Paul

14 Now most of the Lord's followers have become brave and are fearlessly telling the message.t
15 Some are preaching about Christ because they are jealous and envious of us. Others are preaching because they want to help. 16 They love Christ and know I am here to defend the good news about him. 17 But the ones who are jealous of us are not sincere. They just want to cause trouble for me while I am in jail.

18 But that doesn't matter. All that matters is that people are telling about Christ, whether they are sincere or not. This is what makes me glad.
I will keep on being glad, 19 because I know that your prayers and the help that comes from the Spirit of Christ Jesus will keep me safe.

20 I honestly expect and hope I will never do anything to be ashamed of. Whether I live or die, I always want to be as brave as I am now and bring honor to Christ.
21 If I live, it will be for Christ, and if I die, I will gain even more. 22 I don't know what to choose. I could keep on living and doing something useful. 23 It is a hard choice to make. I want to die and be with Christ, because this would be much better. 24-25 But I know that all of you still need me. This is why I am sure I will stay on to help you grow and be happy in your faith.

26 Then, when I visit you again, you will have good reason to take great pride in Christ Jesus because of me.t

27 Above all else, you must live in a way that brings honor to the good news about Christ. Then, whether I visit you or not, I will hear that all of you think alike. I will know that you are working together and are struggling side by side to get others to believe the good news.
28 Be brave when you face your enemies. Your courage will show them that they are going to be destroyed, and it will show you that you will be saved. God will make all of this happen, 29 and he has blessed you. Not only do you have faith in Christ, but you suffer for him. 30 t You saw me suffer, and you still hear about my troubles. Now you must suffer in the same way.
