Saludos de Pablo

1  Saludos de Pablo y de Timoteo, esclavos de Cristo Jesús.
Yo, Pablo, escribo esta carta a todo el pueblo santo de Dios en Filipos que pertenece a Cristo Jesús, incluidos los ancianos gobernantest y los diáconos.

2 Que Dios nuestro Padre y el Señor Jesucristo les den gracia y paz.

Oración y agradecimiento de Pablo

3 Cada vez que pienso en ustedes, le doy gracias a mi Dios. 4 Siempre que oro, pido por todos ustedes con alegría, 5 porque han colaborado conmigo en dar a conocer la Buena Noticia acerca de Cristo desde el momento que la escucharon por primera vez hasta ahora. 6 Y estoy seguro de que Dios, quien comenzó la buena obra en ustedes, la continuará hasta que quede completamente terminada el día que Cristo Jesús vuelva.

7 Está bien que sienta estas cosas por todos ustedes, porque ocupan un lugar especial en mi corazón. Participan conmigo del favor especial de Dios, tanto en mi prisión como al defender y confirmar la verdad de la Buena Noticia. 8 Dios sabe cuánto los amo y los extraño con la tierna compasión de Cristo Jesús.

9 Le pido a Dios que el amor de ustedes desborde cada vez más y que sigan creciendo en conocimiento y entendimiento. 10 Quiero que entiendan lo que realmente importa, a fin de que lleven una vida pura e intachable hasta el día que Cristo vuelva. 11 Que estén siempre llenos del fruto de la salvación —es decir el carácter justo que Jesucristo produce en su vidat— porque esto traerá mucha gloria y alabanza a Dios.

Alegría de Pablo porque se predica a Cristo

12 Además, mis amados hermanos, quiero que sepan que todo lo que me ha sucedido en este lugar ha servido para difundir la Buena Noticia. 13 Pues cada persona de aquí —incluida toda la guardia del palaciot— sabe que estoy encadenado por causa de Cristo; 14 y dado que estoy preso, la mayoría de los creyentest de este lugar ha aumentado su confianza y anuncia con valentía el mensaje de Diost sin temor.

15 Es cierto que algunos predican acerca de Cristo por celos y rivalidad, pero otros lo hacen con intenciones puras. 16 Estos últimos predican porque me aman, pues saben que fui designado para defender la Buena Noticia. 17 Los otros no tienen intenciones puras cuando predican de Cristo. Lo hacen con ambición egoísta, no con sinceridad sino con el propósito de que las cadenas me resulten más dolorosas. 18 Pero eso no importa; sean falsas o genuinas sus intenciones, el mensaje acerca de Cristo se predica de todas maneras, de modo que me gozo. Y seguiré gozándome 19 porque sé que la oración de ustedes y la ayuda del Espíritu de Jesucristo, darán como resultado mi libertad.

Pablo vive para Cristo

20 Tengo la plena seguridad y la esperanza que jamás seré avergonzado, sino que seguiré actuando con valor por Cristo, como lo he hecho en el pasado. Y confío en que mi vida dará honor a Cristo, sea que yo viva o muera. 21 Pues, para mí, vivir significa vivir para Cristo y morir es aún mejor. 22 Pero si vivo, puedo realizar más labor fructífera para Cristo. Así que realmente no sé qué es mejor. 23 Estoy dividido entre dos deseos: quisiera partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual sería mucho mejor para mí; 24 pero por el bien de ustedes, es mejor que siga viviendo.

25 Al estar consciente de esto, estoy convencido de que seguiré con vida para continuar ayudándolos a todos ustedes a crecer y a experimentar la alegría de su fe. 26 Y cuando vuelva, tendrán más razones todavía para sentirse orgullosos en Cristo Jesús de lo que él está haciendo por medio de mí.

Vivan como ciudadanos del cielo

27 Sobre todo, deben vivir como ciudadanos del cielo, comportándose de un modo digno de la Buena Noticia acerca de Cristo. Entonces, sea que vuelva a verlos o solamente tenga noticias de ustedes, sabré que están firmes y unidos en un mismo espíritu y propósito, luchando juntos por la fe, es decir la Buena Noticia. 28 No se dejen intimidar por sus enemigos de ninguna manera. Eso les será por señal a ellos de que serán destruidos, mientras que ustedes serán salvos, aun por Dios mismo. 29 Pues a ustedes se les dio no sólo el privilegio de confiar en Cristo sino también el privilegio de sufrir por él. 30 Estamos juntos en esta lucha. Ustedes han visto mi lucha en el pasado y saben que aún no ha terminado.

To all God's people who belong to Christ Jesus at Philippi and to all your bishops and deacons.

2 I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

Paul's Prayer for the Church //in Philippi

6 God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.
7 You have a special place in my heart. So it is only natural for me to feel the way I do. All of you have helped in the work God has given me, as I defend the good news and tell about it here in jail.

8 God himself knows how much I want to see you. He knows I care for you in the same way Christ Jesus does.
9 I pray that your love will keep on growing and you will fully know and understand 10 how to make the right choices. Then you will still be pure and innocent when Christ returns. And until that day,

11 Jesus Christ will keep you busy doing good deeds that bring glory and praise to God.

What Life Means to Paul

14 Now most of the Lord's followers have become brave and are fearlessly telling the message.t
15 Some are preaching about Christ because they are jealous and envious of us. Others are preaching because they want to help. 16 They love Christ and know I am here to defend the good news about him. 17 But the ones who are jealous of us are not sincere. They just want to cause trouble for me while I am in jail.

18 But that doesn't matter. All that matters is that people are telling about Christ, whether they are sincere or not. This is what makes me glad.
I will keep on being glad, 19 because I know that your prayers and the help that comes from the Spirit of Christ Jesus will keep me safe.

20 I honestly expect and hope I will never do anything to be ashamed of. Whether I live or die, I always want to be as brave as I am now and bring honor to Christ.
21 If I live, it will be for Christ, and if I die, I will gain even more. 22 I don't know what to choose. I could keep on living and doing something useful. 23 It is a hard choice to make. I want to die and be with Christ, because this would be much better. 24-25 But I know that all of you still need me. This is why I am sure I will stay on to help you grow and be happy in your faith.

26 Then, when I visit you again, you will have good reason to take great pride in Christ Jesus because of me.t

27 Above all else, you must live in a way that brings honor to the good news about Christ. Then, whether I visit you or not, I will hear that all of you think alike. I will know that you are working together and are struggling side by side to get others to believe the good news.
28 Be brave when you face your enemies. Your courage will show them that they are going to be destroyed, and it will show you that you will be saved. God will make all of this happen, 29 and he has blessed you. Not only do you have faith in Christ, but you suffer for him. 30 t You saw me suffer, and you still hear about my troubles. Now you must suffer in the same way.
