Saludo

1 Queridos hermanos y hermanas de la iglesia de Filipos:
Nosotros, Pablo y Timoteo, que somos servidores de Jesucristo, enviamos un saludo a todos ustedes, que pertenecen al pueblo especial de Dios y están unidos a Jesucristo. Saludos también para los líderes y los diáconos.

2 Que Dios, nuestro Padre, y el Señor Jesucristo, los amen mucho y les den su paz.

Pablo ora por los miembros de la iglesia

3 Siempre doy gracias a mi Dios, al acordarme de ustedes;4 y cuando oro, siempre pido con alegría por todos,5 porque me ayudaron a anunciar la buena noticia desde el primer día que la oyeron hasta ahora.

6 Dios empezó el buen trabajo en ustedes, y estoy seguro de que lo irá perfeccionando hasta el día en que Jesucristo vuelva.
7 Está bien que yo piense así de todos ustedes, porque los quiero mucho, y porque ustedes comparten conmigo el trabajo de amor que Dios me ha encargado. En la cárcel, o delante de los jueces, ustedes siempre me apoyan para afirmar la verdad de esta buena noticia.

8 Dios sabe que no miento cuando digo que los extraño y los quiero con el tierno amor que Jesucristo me da.
9 Le pido a Dios que ustedes se amen cada vez más, y que todo lo aprendan bien y lo juzguen correctamente,10 para que sepan cómo elegir lo mejor. Así, cuando Cristo vuelva, estarán sin pecado y nadie podrá acusarlos de nada.

11 Porque, con la ayuda de Jesucristo, ustedes harán lo bueno, para que la gente alabe y honre a Dios.

Lo que Pablo piensa de la vida

12 Queridos hermanos, quiero que sepan que lo que me ha pasado, más bien me ha ayudado a anunciar la buena noticia.13 Todos los guardias del palacio, y el resto de la gente, saben que estoy preso por servir a Cristo .

14 Además, al saber que estoy preso, la mayoría de los hermanos se ha animado a anunciar el mensaje de Dios, sin miedo y con más confianza en el Señor Jesucristo.
15-16 Es cierto que algunos anuncian la buena noticia porque de veras quieren ayudar: aman a Cristo y saben que Dios me ha dado la tarea de defender la buena noticia. En cambio, hay otros que lo hacen sólo por competir conmigo, o porque me envidian.17 Y esos que me envidian no la anuncian con sinceridad; lo hacen porque son egoístas y sólo quieren crearme más problemas aquí en la cárcel.18 Pero eso no importa; porque, sean sinceros o no, están anunciando el mensaje de Cristo, y eso me hace sentirme muy feliz. Y más feliz me sentiré19 cuando sepa que, por medio de las oraciones de ustedes, y con la ayuda del Espíritu de Jesucristo, pronto saldré de la cárcel.

20 Espero firmemente no hacer nada que pueda avergonzarme. Al contrario, sea que yo viva o muera, quiero portarme siempre con valor para que, por medio de mí, la gente hable de lo maravilloso que es Cristo.
21 Si vivo, quiero hacerlo para servir a Cristo, pero si muero, salgo ganando.22-23 En realidad, no sé qué es mejor, y me cuesta mucho trabajo elegir. En caso de seguir con vida, puedo serle útil a Dios aquí en la tierra; pero si muero, iré a reunirme con Jesucristo, lo cual es mil veces mejor.24-25 Pero yo sé que ustedes me necesitan vivo. Por eso estoy seguro de que me quedaré, para poder ayudarlos a tener más confianza en Dios y a vivir felices.

26 Así que, cuando yo esté otra vez con ustedes, tendrán más motivos para alabar a Jesucristo.

Vivir confiando en Cristo

27 Sólo les pido que vivan dignamente, como lo enseña la buena noticia de Cristo. Porque, sea que yo vaya o no a verlos, quiero estar seguro de que todos ustedes viven muy unidos y que se ponen de acuerdo en todo, y que luchan unidos por anunciar la buena noticia.
28 No tengan miedo de sus enemigos. Si ustedes se comportan con valentía, verán que ellos serán destruidos y ustedes serán salvados , porque Dios les dará el triunfo.29 Dios les ha dado a ustedes el privilegio de confiar en Cristo, y también de sufrir por él.

30 Así que tendrán los mismos problemas que yo he tenido, y ya saben muy bien lo que he sufrido y estoy sufriendo.

To all God's people who belong to Christ Jesus at Philippi and to all your bishops and deacons.

2 I pray that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

Paul's Prayer for the Church //in Philippi

6 God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.
7 You have a special place in my heart. So it is only natural for me to feel the way I do. All of you have helped in the work God has given me, as I defend the good news and tell about it here in jail.

8 God himself knows how much I want to see you. He knows I care for you in the same way Christ Jesus does.
9 I pray that your love will keep on growing and you will fully know and understand 10 how to make the right choices. Then you will still be pure and innocent when Christ returns. And until that day,

11 Jesus Christ will keep you busy doing good deeds that bring glory and praise to God.

What Life Means to Paul

14 Now most of the Lord's followers have become brave and are fearlessly telling the message.t
15 Some are preaching about Christ because they are jealous and envious of us. Others are preaching because they want to help. 16 They love Christ and know I am here to defend the good news about him. 17 But the ones who are jealous of us are not sincere. They just want to cause trouble for me while I am in jail.

18 But that doesn't matter. All that matters is that people are telling about Christ, whether they are sincere or not. This is what makes me glad.
I will keep on being glad, 19 because I know that your prayers and the help that comes from the Spirit of Christ Jesus will keep me safe.

20 I honestly expect and hope I will never do anything to be ashamed of. Whether I live or die, I always want to be as brave as I am now and bring honor to Christ.
21 If I live, it will be for Christ, and if I die, I will gain even more. 22 I don't know what to choose. I could keep on living and doing something useful. 23 It is a hard choice to make. I want to die and be with Christ, because this would be much better. 24-25 But I know that all of you still need me. This is why I am sure I will stay on to help you grow and be happy in your faith.

26 Then, when I visit you again, you will have good reason to take great pride in Christ Jesus because of me.t

27 Above all else, you must live in a way that brings honor to the good news about Christ. Then, whether I visit you or not, I will hear that all of you think alike. I will know that you are working together and are struggling side by side to get others to believe the good news.
28 Be brave when you face your enemies. Your courage will show them that they are going to be destroyed, and it will show you that you will be saved. God will make all of this happen, 29 and he has blessed you. Not only do you have faith in Christ, but you suffer for him. 30 t You saw me suffer, and you still hear about my troubles. Now you must suffer in the same way.
