Filipparane 2

1 Når det no er trøyst i Kristus, kveik i kjærleiken, samfunn i Anden, og så sant det finst medkjensle og miskunn, 2 så gjer mi glede fullkomen: Ver samlyndte, hald saman i kjærleik, ver eitt i hug og tanke. t 3 Gjer ikkje noko av sjølvhevding eller lyst til tom ære, men ver audmjuke og set dei andre høgare enn dykk sjølve. t 4 Tenk ikkje berre på det som gagnar dykk sjølve, men tenk òg på det som gagnar dei andre. t

5 Lat det same huglaget vera i dykk som òg var i Kristus Jesus! t

6 Då han var i Guds skapnad,
heldt han det ikkje for eit rov
å vera Gud lik. t

7 Men han gav avkall på sitt eige,
tok på seg ein tenars skapnad
og vart menneske lik.t
I si ferd var han ¬som eit menneske;

8 han nedra seg sjølv
og vart lydig til døden,
ja, døden på krossen. t

9 Difor har Gud storleg ¬opphøgt han
og gjeve han det namn
som er over alle namn, t

10 så kvart kne ¬skal bøya seg i Jesu namn,
i himmelen, ¬på jorda og under jorda, t

11 og kvar tunge sanna:
Jesus Kristus er Herre, ¬til Gud Faders ære! t

Som ljos i verda

18 Så må de òg vera glade og gleda dykk saman med meg.t

To trufaste medarbeidarar

24 Og Herren har gjort meg trygg på at eg snart skal koma sjølv.t
25 Eg har òg funne det naudsynt å senda Epafroditus attende til dykk. Han er min bror og medarbeidar og medstridande, og var dykkar utsending for å hjelpa meg med det eg trong. t 26 Han lengta etter dykk alle og var uroleg fordi de hadde høyrt at han var sjuk. 27 Ja, han var verkeleg sjuk og døden nær. Men Gud synte miskunn mot han, ja, ikkje berre mot han, men mot meg òg, så eg ikkje skulle få sorg på sorg. 28 Difor er det no endå meir om å gjera for meg å senda han til dykk, så de kan gleda dykk ved å sjå han att, og eg vera meir sutlaus. 29 Ta imot han i Herrens namn og med inderleg glede. Slike som han skal de halda i ære. t 30 Det var i arbeidet for Kristus at han var døden nær, då han våga livet for å bøta på det som vanta i den hjelp de har gjeve meg.t

PHILIPPIANS 2

True Humility

1 Christ encourages you, and his love comforts you. God's Spirit unites you, and you are concerned for others. 2 Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person. 3 Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves

5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:t

6 Christ was truly God.
But he did not try to remaint
equal with God.

7 Instead he gave up everythingt
and became a slave,
when he became
like one of us.

8 Christ was humble.
He obeyed God and even died
on a cross.

9 Then God gave Christ
the highest place
and honored his name
above all others.

10  t So at the name of Jesus
everyone will bow down,
those in heaven, on earth,
and under the earth.

11 And to the glory
of God the Father
everyone will openly agree,
“Jesus Christ is Lord!”

Lights in the World

13 God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 15 t Then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world,

16 as you hold firmly tot the message that gives life. Then on the day when Christ returns, I can take pride in you. I can also know that my work and efforts were not useless.
17 Your faith in the Lord and your service are like a sacrifice offered to him. And my own blood may have to be poured out with the sacrifice.t If this happens, I will be glad and rejoice with you.

18 In the same way, you should be glad and rejoice with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus

24 And I feel sure the Lord will also let me come soon.
25 I think I ought to send my dear friend Epaphroditus back to you. He is a follower and a worker and a soldier of the Lord, just as I am. You sent him to look after me, 26 but now he is eager to see you. He is worried, because you heard he was sick.

27 In fact, he was very sick and almost died. But God was kind to him, and also to me, and he kept me from being burdened down with sorrow.
28 Now I am more eager than ever to send Epaphroditus back again. You will be glad to see him, and I won't have to worry any longer. 29 Be sure to give him a cheerful welcome, just as people who serve the Lord deserve. 30 He almost died working for Christ, and he risked his own life to do for me what you could not.
