Humillación y exaltación de Cristo

1 Por tanto, si hay alguna consolación en Cristo, si algún consuelo de amor, si alguna comunión del Espíritu, si algún afecto entrañable, si alguna misericordia,2 completen mi gozo sintiendo lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa.3 No hagan nada por contienda o por vanagloria. Al contrario, háganlo con humildad y considerando cada uno a los demás como superiores a sí mismo.4 No busque cada uno su propio interés, sino cada cual también el de los demás.5 Que haya en ustedes el mismo sentir que hubo en Cristo Jesús,6 quien, siendo en forma de Dios, no estimó el ser igual a Dios como cosa a que aferrarse,7 sino que se despojó a sí mismo y tomó forma de siervo, y se hizo semejante a los hombres;8 y estando en la condición de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo y se hizo obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.9 Por lo cual Dios también lo exaltó hasta lo sumo, y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre,10 para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y en la tierra, y debajo de la tierra;11 y toda lengua confieset que Jesucristo es el Señor, para gloria de Dios el Padre.

Luminares en el mundo

12 Por tanto, amados míos, ya que siempre han obedecido, no sólo en mi presencia, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia, ocúpense en su salvación con temor y temblor,13 porque Dios es el que produce en ustedes lo mismo el querer como el hacer, por su buena voluntad.

14 Háganlo todo sin murmuraciones ni peleas,15 para que sean irreprensibles y sencillos, e intachables hijos de Dios en medio de una generación maligna y perversa,t en medio de la cual ustedes resplandecen como luminares en el mundo,16 aferrados a la palabra de vida, para que en el día de Cristo yo pueda gloriarme de que no he corrido ni trabajado en vano.17 Y aunque mi vida sea derramada en libación sobre el sacrificio y servicio de la fe de ustedes, me gozo y regocijo con todos ustedes.18 Y asimismo, también ustedes gócense y regocíjense conmigo.

Timoteo y Epafrodito

19 Espero en el Señor Jesús enviarles pronto a Timoteo, para que yo también pueda regocijarme al saber cómo se encuentran ustedes;20 pues no tengo a nadie con ese mismo ánimo, y que con tanta sinceridad se interese por ustedes.21 Porque todos buscan su propio interés, y no lo que es de Cristo Jesús.22 Pero ya conocen los méritos de él, que ha servido conmigo en el evangelio como sirve un hijo a su padre.23 Así que espero enviarlo a ustedes tan pronto vea yo cómo van mis asuntos,24 y confío en el Señor que yo también iré pronto a ustedes.

25 Pero consideré necesario enviarles a Epafrodito, mi hermano y colaborador y compañero de lucha, y además mensajero de ustedes y proveedor de mis necesidades,26 porque él tenía grandes deseos de verlos a todos ustedes, y se angustió mucho al saber que ustedes se enteraron de su enfermedad.27 A decir verdad, sí estuvo enfermo y a punto de morir; pero Dios tuvo misericordia de él, y no solamente de él, sino también de mí, para que yo no añadiera más tristeza a mis tristezas.28 Así que lo he enviado con la mayor urgencia para que, al verlo de nuevo, ustedes puedan alegrarse y yo tener menos tristeza.29 Recíbanlo en el Señor con todo gozo, y tengan en alta estima a los que son como él;30 porque por la obra de Cristo estuvo a punto de morir, y hasta arriesgó su vida por mí, para suplir el servicio que de ustedes me faltaba.

PHILIPPIANS 2

True Humility

1 Christ encourages you, and his love comforts you. God's Spirit unites you, and you are concerned for others. 2 Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person. 3 Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves

5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:t

6 Christ was truly God.
But he did not try to remaint
equal with God.

7 Instead he gave up everythingt
and became a slave,
when he became
like one of us.

8 Christ was humble.
He obeyed God and even died
on a cross.

9 Then God gave Christ
the highest place
and honored his name
above all others.

10  t So at the name of Jesus
everyone will bow down,
those in heaven, on earth,
and under the earth.

11 And to the glory
of God the Father
everyone will openly agree,
“Jesus Christ is Lord!”

Lights in the World

13 God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 15 t Then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world,

16 as you hold firmly tot the message that gives life. Then on the day when Christ returns, I can take pride in you. I can also know that my work and efforts were not useless.
17 Your faith in the Lord and your service are like a sacrifice offered to him. And my own blood may have to be poured out with the sacrifice.t If this happens, I will be glad and rejoice with you.

18 In the same way, you should be glad and rejoice with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus

24 And I feel sure the Lord will also let me come soon.
25 I think I ought to send my dear friend Epaphroditus back to you. He is a follower and a worker and a soldier of the Lord, just as I am. You sent him to look after me, 26 but now he is eager to see you. He is worried, because you heard he was sick.

27 In fact, he was very sick and almost died. But God was kind to him, and also to me, and he kept me from being burdened down with sorrow.
28 Now I am more eager than ever to send Epaphroditus back again. You will be glad to see him, and I won't have to worry any longer. 29 Be sure to give him a cheerful welcome, just as people who serve the Lord deserve. 30 He almost died working for Christ, and he risked his own life to do for me what you could not.
