Filipperbrevet 2
1 Om det alltså finns tröst genom Kristus, uppmuntran från kärleken och gemenskap från Anden, om det finns ömhet och medkänsla, 2 gör då min glädje fullkomlig genom att visa enighet. Lev i samma kärlek, eniga i tanke och sinnelag, 3 fria från självhävdelse och fåfänga. Var ödmjuka och sätt andra högre än er själva. 4 Tänk inte bara på ert eget bästa utan också på andras. 5 Låt det sinnelag råda hos er som också fanns hos Kristus Jesus. 6 Han ägde Guds gestalt men vakade inte över sin jämlikhet med Gud 7 utan avstod från allt och antog en tjänares gestalt då han blev som en av oss. När han till det yttre hade blivit människa 8 gjorde han sig ödmjuk och var lydig ända till döden, döden på ett kors. 9 Därför har Gud upphöjt honom över allt annat och gett honom det namn som står över alla andra namn, 10 för att alla knän skall böjas för Jesu namn, i himlen, på jorden och under jorden,
11 och alla tungor bekänna att Jesus Kristus är herre, Gud fadern till ära.Arbeta på er frälsning
12 Därför, mina kära, ni som alltid har varit lydiga: arbeta med fruktan och bävan på er frälsning, inte bara så som när jag var hos er utan ännu mer nu när jag är långt borta. 13 Ty det är Gud som verkar i er så att ni både i vilja och gärning förverkligar hans syfte. 14 Gör allting utan knot och utan förbehåll, 15 så att ni blir oförvitliga och rena, Guds fläckfria barn mitt i ett ont och fördärvat släkte, där ni lyser som stjärnor på himlen 16 när ni håller er till livets ord. Då kan jag vara stolt på Kristi dag: mitt lopp har inte varit förgäves, min möda inte förspilld. 17 Ja, även om mitt blod skulle utgjutas när jag bär fram er tro som ett offer till Gud är jag glad och gläds med er alla.
18 På samma sätt skall ni vara glada och glädjas med mig.Timotheos och Epafroditos skickas till Filippi
19 Herren Jesus ger mig hopp om att snart kunna skicka Timotheos till er, så att jag kan få nyheter om er och vara vid gott mod även jag. 20 Jag har ingen annan med samma förmåga att känna det rätta ansvaret för er. 21 Alla tänker bara på sitt, ingen på Jesu Kristi sak. 22 Men ni vet vad han har gett prov på. Som en son hjälper sin far, så har han arbetat för evangeliet tillsammans med mig. 23 Honom hoppas jag alltså kunna skicka så snart jag har sett hur det går för mig.
24 I min tro på Herren litar jag på att snart också kunna komma själv.
25 Jag har emellertid funnit det nödvändigt att skicka vår broder Epafroditos till er, min medarbetare och medkämpe som ni sände hit för att han skulle hjälpa mig med det jag behövde. 26 Han har längtat efter er alla och har varit olycklig över att ni hörde att han hade blivit sjuk. 27 Och sjuk var han verkligen, nära döden, men Gud förbarmade sig över honom, och inte bara över honom utan också över mig, så att jag skulle slippa uppleva sorg på sorg. 28 Därför är jag så mycket mer angelägen om att skicka honom, för att ni skall få glädjen att återse honom och jag själv få mina bekymmer lättade. 29 Ta alltså emot honom i Herren och med stor glädje. En man som han skall ni hedra; 30 det var i sitt arbete för Kristus som han var nära döden. Han satte sitt liv på spel för att ge mig den hjälp som ni inte kunde ge.
PHILIPPIANS 2
True Humility
1 Christ encourages you, and his love comforts you. God's Spirit unites you, and you are concerned for others. 2 Now make me completely happy! Live in harmony by showing love for each other. Be united in what you think, as if you were only one person. 3 Don't be jealous or proud, but be humble and consider others more important than yourselves. 4 Care about them as much as you care about yourselves
5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:t
6 Christ was truly God.
But he did not try to remaint
equal with God.
7 Instead he gave up everythingt
and became a slave,
when he became
like one of us.
8 Christ was humble.
He obeyed God and even died
on a cross.
9 Then God gave Christ
the highest place
and honored his name
above all others.
10 t So at the name of Jesus
everyone will bow down,
those in heaven, on earth,
and under the earth.
11 And to the glory
of God the Father
everyone will openly agree,
“Jesus Christ is Lord!”Lights in the World
12 My dear friends, you always obeyed when I was with you. Now that I am away, you should obey even more. So work with fear and trembling to discover what it really means to be saved.
13 God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing. 15 t Then you will be the pure and innocent children of God. You live among people who are crooked and evil, but you must not do anything they can say is wrong. Try to shine as lights among the people of this world,
16 as you hold firmly tot the message that gives life. Then on the day when Christ returns, I can take pride in you. I can also know that my work and efforts were not useless.
17 Your faith in the Lord and your service are like a sacrifice offered to him. And my own blood may have to be poured out with the sacrifice.t If this happens, I will be glad and rejoice with you.
18 In the same way, you should be glad and rejoice with me.Timothy and Epaphroditus
19 I want to be encouraged by news about you. So I hope the Lord Jesus will soon let me send Timothy to you. 20 I don't have anyone else who cares about you as much as he does. 21 The others think only about what interests them and not about what concerns Christ Jesus. 22 But you know what kind of person Timothy is. He has worked with me like a son in spreading the good news. 23 I hope to send him to you, as soon as I find out what is going to happen to me.
24 And I feel sure the Lord will also let me come soon.
25 I think I ought to send my dear friend Epaphroditus back to you. He is a follower and a worker and a soldier of the Lord, just as I am. You sent him to look after me, 26 but now he is eager to see you. He is worried, because you heard he was sick.
27 In fact, he was very sick and almost died. But God was kind to him, and also to me, and he kept me from being burdened down with sorrow.
28 Now I am more eager than ever to send Epaphroditus back again. You will be glad to see him, and I won't have to worry any longer. 29 Be sure to give him a cheerful welcome, just as people who serve the Lord deserve. 30 He almost died working for Christ, and he risked his own life to do for me what you could not.
