Sejam unidos pelo amor fraternal

1 Se há algum encorajamento em Cristo, se há alguma consolação no seu amor, se há alguma comunhão com o Espíritot, se há alguma misericórdia e bondade,2 então me façam completamente feliz. Eu peço que vocês tenham o mesmo modo de pensar, que tenham o mesmo amor uns pelos outros, e tenham um mesmo espírito e um único propósito.3 Não façam nada por interesse pessoal ou vaidade. Pelo contrário, ajam com humildade e cada um considere os outros superiores a si mesmo.

4 Nenhum de vocês deve buscar apenas o seu próprio bem, mas também o que é para o bem dos outros.

O exemplo de Cristo na humildade

5 Tenham entre vocês o mesmo pensamento que Cristo Jesus teve.6 Embora Ele fosse Deus na sua natureza real, Ele não pensou que ser igual a Deus era algo para utilizar para seu próprio beneficio.7 Pelo contrário, Ele abandonou tudo o que tinha e assumiu a forma de servo, tornando-se igual aos homens. E, quando Ele apareceu em forma de homem,

8 Ele se humilhou, tornando-se obediente até o ponto de estar disposto a enfrentar a morte, e morte de cruz.
9 Por isso Deus o exaltou e lhe deu o nome que está acima de todos os outros nomes.10 Isso aconteceu para que todos se ajoelhem quando ouvirem o nome de Jesus, tanto aqueles que estão no céu, como aqueles que estão na terra ou mesmo debaixo da terra,

11 e para que toda boca confesse que Jesus Cristo é Senhor, para a glória de Deus Pai.

Desenvolvam a salvação de vocês

12 Assim, meus queridos amigos, como vocês sempre obedeceram, não só na minha presença, porém muito mais agora na minha ausência, continuem trabalhando para desenvolver a salvação de vocês, com respeito e temor.

13 Pois Deus é quem trabalha em vocês para que desejem e realizem as coisas que lhe agradam.
14 Façam tudo sem queixas e sem discussões,15 para que vocês sejam inocentes e puros, como filhos inculpáveis de Deus que vivem numa geração cheia de pessoas desonestas e pervertidas. Entre elas, vocês brilham como estrelas no mundo,

16 anunciando-lhes a mensagem que dá vida. Dessa forma eu poderei me orgulhar no dia em que Cristo voltar, em ver que não corri em vão nem me esforcei inutilmente.
17 A fé que vocês têm os leva a oferecer as suas vidas em sacrifício no serviço de Deus. E mesmo que eu tenha que oferecer o meu próprio sangue com o sacrifício de vocês, isto me dará uma grande alegria, e eu me alegrarei com todos vocês.

18 Da mesma maneira, vocês também deveriam se alegrar e compartilhar essa alegria de vocês comigo.

Notícias sobre Timóteo e Epafrodito

19 Espero no Senhor Jesus enviar-lhes Timóteo o mais breve possível a fim de que eu me sinta animado, recebendo notícias sobre vocês.20 Eu quero enviá-lo porque não tenho ninguém mais que tenha as mesmas preocupações que eu tenho, e que se interesse pelo bem-estar de vocês.21 Pois todos os outros cuidam dos seus próprios interesses, e não do que é de Cristo Jesus.22 E vocês conhecem o caráter de Timóteo, pois ele trabalhou junto comigo para espalhar as Boas Novast, como filho que trabalha para o pai.23 Assim que eu souber como vão ficar as coisas aqui comigo, é este quem eu espero enviar a vocês.

24 E estou confiante que, com a ajuda do Senhor, também eu mesmo irei visitá-los em breve.
25 Achei, todavia, necessário enviar até vocês Epafrodito. Ele é meu irmão, companheiro, e trabalha comigo como soldado de Cristo. Ele também é mensageiro de vocês para me ajudar nas minhas necessidades.26 Resolvi enviá-lo porque ele tem sentido muita saudade de todos vocês e vive preocupado porque vocês ouviram que ele estava doente.27 De fato ele estava doente, e quase morreu. Mas Deus teve misericórdia dele, e não somente dele, mas também de mim, para que eu não tivesse ainda mais tristeza.28 Por isso, quero mandá-lo o mais depressa possível. Assim terão a alegria de vê-lo novamente, e eu ficarei menos preocupado com vocês.29 Recebam-no no Senhor com muita alegria, e honrem aqueles que são como Epafrodito.

30 Ele deve ser honrado porque quase morreu por causa do trabalho de Cristo. Ele arriscou a sua própria vida para me ajudar, e me deu a ajuda que vocês não me podiam dar.

Philippians 2

Be Like Christ

1 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,7 but temptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing;15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,16 holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I will have reason to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain.17 But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.18 You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

Timothy and Epaphroditus

19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you shortly, so that I also may be encouraged when I learn of your condition.20 For I have no one else of kindred spirit who will genuinely be concerned for your welfare.21 For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.22 But you know of his proven worth, that he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.23 Therefore I hope to send him immediately, as soon as I see how things go with me;24 and I trust in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly.25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, who is also your messenger and minister to my need;26 because he was longing tfor you all and was distressed because you had heard that he was sick.27 For indeed he was sick to the point of death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only but also on me, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.28 Therefore I have sent him all the more eagerly so that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less concerned about you. 29 Receive him then in the Lord with all joy, and hold men like him in high regard;30 because he came close to death for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was deficient in your service to me.
