3. Advertencias y enseñanzas (3.1–4.1)
Sobre la circuncisión y la ley
1 Ahora, hermanos míos, alegraos en el Señor.t Para mí no es ninguna molestia repetiros lo ya escrito, y para vosotros es útil. 2 Guardaos de esa gente despreciable,t de esos que hacen el mal, de esos que mutilan el cuerpo.t 3 Porque los verdaderos circuncidadost somos nosotros, los que adoramos a Dios movidos por su Espíritu,t los que nos gloriamos de ser de Cristo Jesús y no ponemos nuestra confianza en cosas externas.t 4 Aunque también yo tengo razones para confiar en esas cosas. Nadie tendría más razones que yo para confiar en ellas, 5 pues me circuncidaron a los ocho días de nacer,t soy de raza israelita, pertenezco a la tribu de Benjamínt y soy hebreo e hijo de hebreos.t En cuanto a la interpretación de la ley judía, pertenecí al partido fariseo,t 6 y era tan fanático que perseguía a la iglesia;t y en cuanto al cumplimiento de la ley, nadie tuvo nada que reprocharme.t 7 Pero todo esto, que antes era muy valioso para mí, ahora, a causa de Cristo, lo tengo por algo sin valor. 8 Aún más, a nada concedo valor cuando lo comparo con el bien supremo de conocer a Cristo Jesús,t mi Señor. Por causa de Cristo lo he perdido todo, y todo lo considero basura a cambio de ganarlo a él 9 y encontrarme unido a él; no por una justicia propia basada en la obediencia a la ley, sino por la fe en Cristo, por la cual Dios me hace justo.t 10 Lo que quiero es conocer a Cristo, sentir en mí el poder de su resurrección, tomar parte en sus sufrimientos y llegar a ser como él en su muerte,t
11 con la esperanza de alcanzar la resurrección de los muertos.De camino hacia la meta
12 No quiero decir que ya lo haya conseguido todot ni que ya sea perfecto; pero sigo adelante con la esperanza de alcanzarlo, puesto que Cristo Jesús me alcanzó primero.t 13 Hermanos, no creo haberlo alcanzado aún; lo que sí hago es olvidarme de lo que queda atrás y esforzarme por alcanzar lo que está delante,
14 para llegar a la meta y ganar el premio que Dios nos llama a recibir por medio de Cristo Jesús.t
15 Todos los que poseemos una fe madurat debemos pensar de esta manera. Y si en algo pensáis de otro modo, Dios os lo hará ver también.
16 Pero, eso sí, debemos vivir de acuerdo con lo que ya hemos alcanzado.Ciudadanos del cielo
17 Hermanos, seguid mi ejemplot y fijaos también en quienes viven según el ejemplo que os hemos dado. 18 Ya os he dicho muchas veces, y ahora lo repito con lágrimas, que muchos están viviendo como enemigos de la cruz de Cristo 19 y acabarán por ser destruidos. Su dios son sus propios apetitos,t y se sienten orgullosos de aquello que debería darles vergüenza. Solo piensan en las cosas de este mundo. 20 En cambio, nosotros somos ciudadanos del cielot y estamos esperando que del cielo venga el Salvador, el Señor Jesucristo,t 21 que cambiará nuestro cuerpo miserable en un cuerpo glorioso como el suyo.t Y lo hará por medio del poder que tiene para dominar todas las cosas.

True and False Righteousness
1 Finally, my brothers and sisters,t rejoice in the Lord! To write this again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.
2 Beware of the dogs,s beware of the evil workers, beware of those who mutilate the flesh!t3 For we are the circumcision,t the ones who worship by the Spirit of God,s exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentialst4 – though mine too are significant.t If someone thinks he has good reasons to put confidence in human credentials,t I have more:5 I was circumcised on the eighth day, from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews. I lived according to the law as a Pharisee.s6 In my zeal for God I persecuted the church. According to the righteousness stipulated in the law I was blameless.7 But these assets I have come to regard as liabilities because of Christ.8 More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things – indeed, I regard them as dung!t – that I may gain Christ,9 and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulnessts – a righteousness from God that is in factt based on Christ’st faithfulness.t10 My aim is to know him,t to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings,t and to be like him in his death,
11 and so, somehow,t to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Keep Going Forward
12 Not that I have already attained this – that is, I have not already been perfected – but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.t13 Brothers and sisters,t I do not consider myself to have attained this. Instead I am single-minded:t Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead,14 with this goal in mind,t I strive toward the prize of the upward call of Godt in Christ Jesus.15 Therefore let those of us who are “perfect” embrace this point of view.ts If you think otherwise, God will reveal to you the error of your ways.t
16 Nevertheless, let us live up to the standards that we have already attained.t
17 Be imitators of me,t brothers and sisters,t and watch carefully those who are living this way, just as you have us as an example.18 For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.19 Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things.t20 But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform these humble bodies of ourst into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.
