Filippesi 3

1 Qualsiasi cosa accada, cari fratelli, siate felici, perché siete uniti al Signore. Non mi stancherò mai di dirvelo ed anche a voi farà bene sentirvelo ripetere.

Attenzione ai falsi maestri.

2 Fate attenzione a quegli uomini malvagi, veri e propri cani pericolosi, li chiamo io, che vi spingono a farvi circoncidere per essere salvati.3 Non è mutilando il nostro corpo che diventiamo figli di Dio, bensì adorando il Signore guidati dallo Spirito Santo. Questa soltanto è la vera circoncisione. Noi cristiani siamo fieri di ciò che Cristo ha fatto per noi e sappiamo bene che non c’è niente che possiamo fare per salvarci per conto nostro.4 Eppure, se ci fosse qualcuno con valide ragioni per vantarsi di poter mettere fiducia nella propria carne, quello sarei io. Se c’è qualcuno che pensa di aver motivi per porre fiducia nei propri sforzi, sappia che io ne ho molti di più.5 Perché sono stato circonciso quando avevo otto giorni e sono un vero Israelita, nato in una famiglia della tribù di Beniamino. Perciò, se c’è un vero Ebreo, quello sono io! C’è di più, appartenevo alla setta dei Farisei, che osserva strettamente tutte le leggi e le tradizioni ebraiche;6 e per quanto riguarda la mia sincerità, ci credevo talmente che ho perseguitato in tutti i modi la Chiesa e mi consideravo giusto, perché cercavo di osservare le regole e i precetti ebraici nei minimi particolari.7 Ma tutte queste cose, che una volta ritenevo molto importanti, le considero soltanto un danno, ora che fondo la mia fede e la mia speranza soltanto in Cristo.8 Anzi, per la verità, considero qualsiasi altra cosa un danno rispetto al vantaggio immenso di conoscere Gesù Cristo, il mio Signore. Ho rinunciato a tutte queste cose, considerandole come spazzatura, per poter avere Cristo9 ed essere unito a lui nella salvezza. Non quella salvezza che si cerca di ottenere con un buon comportamento o con l’ubbidienza alle leggi di Mosè, ma quella che si ottiene per mezzo della fede in Cristo, perché Dio ci rende giusti ai suoi occhi soltanto se abbiamo fede in Cristo.10 Mi sono disfatto di qualsiasi altra cosa: è stato l’unico modo valido per poter conoscere fino in fondo Cristo e la potenza della sua resurrezione, e scoprire che cosa significa soffrire e morire unito a lui,11 per giungere anch’io alla nuova vita con la resurrezione dai morti.12 Non voglio dire di essere già arrivato alla perfezione e di aver già ottenuto il premio, ma continuo la mia corsa per tentare di afferrarlo, perché anch’io sono stato afferrato da Cristo.13 No, cari fratelli, non credo davvero d’aver già conquistato il mio premio, ma io sto impegnandomi con tutte le mie forze per questo: dimenticare tutto il passato per slanciarmi verso ciò che mi aspetta.14 Continuo a correre verso il traguardo per ricevere il premio per cui Dio ci ha chiamati, grazie a ciò che Cristo ha fatto per noi.15 Spero che tutti voi, che siete cristiani maturi, abbiate gli stessi sentimenti per quanto riguarda queste cose. Se invece non siete d’accordo su certi punti, sono certo che Dio ve li chiarirà,16 soltanto però se seguite fino in fondo la verità, come avete fatto finora.17 Cari fratelli, fate come me e osservate quelli che vivono seguendo il mio esempio.18 Perché, ve l’ho già detto tante volte e ve lo ripeto ancora una volta con le lacrime agli occhi: ce ne sono molti che si comportano come nemici della croce di Cristo.19 La loro fine sarà la perdizione, perché il loro dio è la loro ingordigia. Si vantano di ciò di cui, invece, dovrebbero vergognarsi, e tutti quanti non pensano che alle soddisfazioni di questo mondo.20 La nostra patria invece è il cielo, dov’è il Signore Gesù Cristo, nostro Salvatore, e da dove aspettiamo il suo ritorno.21 Quando tornerà, egli trasformerà questi nostri corpi mortali in corpi gloriosi uguali al suo, lo farà con la stessa potenza con cui sottomette qualsiasi altra cosa.

Philippians 3

1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe.2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision:3 for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;6 as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.7 Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ.8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.13 Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you:16 only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.17 Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample.18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.20 For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:21 who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.
