Aux Philippiens 3
La vraie manière d’être juste aux yeux de Dieu
1 tAu reste, mes frères, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur. Je n’éprouve aucun ennui à vous écrire les mêmes choses, et pour vous, c’est une sécurité.
2 tPrenez garde aux chiens, prenez garde aux mauvais ouvriers, prenez garde aux partisans de la mutilation. 3 tCar c’est nous qui sommes les vrais circoncis, nous qui célébrons le culte par l’Esprit de Dieu, qui mettons notre fierté en Jésus-Christ et qui ne mettons pas notre confiance dans la chair.
4 tMoi, pourtant, j’aurais des raisons de mettre ma confiance dans la chair.
Si d’autres considèrent qu’ils peuvent mettre leur confiance dans la chair, à plus forte raison moi : 5 tcirconcis le huitième jour, de la lignée d’Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, Hébreu né d’Hébreux ; quant à la loi, pharisien ;
6 tquant à la passion, persécuteur de l’Eglise ; quant à la justice de la loi, irréprochable.
7 tMais ce qui était pour moi un gain, je l’ai considéré comme une perte à cause du Christ. 8 tEn fait, je considère tout comme une perte à cause de la supériorité de la connaissance de Jésus-Christ, mon Seigneur. A cause de lui, j’ai accepté de tout perdre, et je considère tout comme des ordures, afin de gagner le Christ 9 tet d’être trouvé en lui, non pas avec ma propre justice, qui viendrait de la loi, mais avec celle qui est par la foi du Christ, une justice venant de Dieu et fondée sur la foi. 10 tIl s’agit maintenant de le connaître, lui, ainsi que la puissance de sa résurrection et la communion de ses souffrances, en étant configurés à lui dans la mort,
11 tpour parvenir, si possible, à la résurrection d’entre les morts.Courir vers le but
12 tCe n’est pas que j’aie déjà obtenu tout cela ni que je sois déjà parvenu à l’accomplissement ; mais je le poursuis, tâchant de le saisir, pour autant que moi-même j’ai été saisi par Jésus-Christ. 13 tEn ce qui me concerne, mes frères, je n’estime pas moi-même l’avoir déjà saisi ; mais une seule chose compte : oubliant ce qui est en arrière et tendant vers ce qui est en avant, 14 tje cours vers le but pour obtenir le prix de l’appel céleste de Dieu en Jésus-Christ. 15 tSi donc nous sommes des gens « accomplis », tenons-nous-en à cette pensée ; et si sur quelque point vous pensez différemment, Dieu vous révélera aussi ce qu’il en est.
16 tSeulement, au point où nous sommes parvenus, avançons ensemble.
17 tMes frères, imitez-moi, et portez les regards sur ceux qui suivent le modèle que vous avez en nous. 18 tCar il en est beaucoup qui se comportent en ennemis de la croix du Christ ; je vous en ai souvent parlé, mais maintenant j’en parle en pleurant : 19 tleur fin, c’est la perdition ; leur dieu, c’est leur ventre, ils mettent leur gloire dans ce qui fait leur honte ; ils ne pensent qu’aux choses de la terre. 20 tQuant à nous, notre citoyenneté est dans les cieux ; de là nous attendons comme sauveur le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, 21 tqui transformera notre corps humilié, en le configurant à son corps glorieux par l’opération qui le rend capable de tout s’assujettir.
Philippians 3
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe.2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision:3 for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;6 as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.7 Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ.8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.13 Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you:16 only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.17 Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample.18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.20 For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:21 who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.
