Philippians 3

Appel à suivre l'exemple de Paul

1 Maintenant donc, mes frères et sœurs, réjouissez-vous dans le Seigneur! Je n'hésite pas à vous écrire les mêmes choses, et cela contribue à votre sécurité.
2 Faites attention aux chienst, faites attention aux mauvais ouvrierst, faites attention aux faux circoncis.

3 En effet, les vrais circoncis, c'est nous, qui rendons notre culte à Dieu par l'Esprit de Dieu, qui plaçons notre fierté en Jésus-Christ et qui ne mettons pas notre confiance dans notre condition.
4 Pourtant, moi-même je pourrais mettre ma confiance dans ma condition. Si quelqu'un croit pouvoir se confier dans sa condition, je le peux plus encore:5 j'ai été circoncis le huitième jour, je suis issu du peuple d'Israël, de la tribu de Benjamin, hébreu né d'Hébreux; en ce qui concerne la loi, j'étais pharisient;

6 du point de vue du zèle, j'étais persécuteur de l'Eglise; par rapport à la justice de la loi, j'étais irréprochable.
7 Mais ces qualités qui étaient pour moi des gains, je les ai regardées comme une perte à cause de Christ.8 Et je considère même tout comme une perte à cause du bien suprême qu'est la connaissance de Jésus-Christ mon Seigneur. A cause de lui je me suis laissé dépouiller de tout et je considère tout cela comme des ordures afin de gagner Christ9 et d'être trouvé en lui non avec ma justice, celle qui vient de la loi, mais avec celle qui s'obtient par la foi en Christ, la justice qui vient de Dieu et qui est fondée sur la foi.10 Ainsi je connaîtrai Christ, la puissance de sa résurrection et la communion à ses souffrances en devenant conforme à lui dans sa mort

11 pour parvenir, d'une manière ou d'une autre, à la résurrection des morts.
12 Ce n'est pas que j'aie déjà remporté le prix ou que j'aie déjà atteint la perfection, mais je cours pour tâcher de m'en emparer, puisque de moi aussi, Jésus-Christ s'est emparé.13 Frères et sœurs, je n'estime pas m'en être moi-même déjà emparé, mais je fais une chose: oubliant ce qui est derrière et me portant vers ce qui est devant,

14 je cours vers le but pour remporter le prix de l'appel céleste de Dieu en Jésus-Christ.
15 Nous tous donc qui sommes mûrs, adoptons cette attitude et, si vous êtes d'un autre avis sur un point, Dieu vous éclairera aussi là-dessus.

16 Seulement, là où nous en sommes, marchons dans la même direction [et vivons en plein accord].
17 Soyez tous mes imitateurs, frères et sœurs, et portez les regards sur ceux qui se conduisent suivant le modèle que vous avez en nous.18 En effet, beaucoup se conduisent en ennemis de la croix de Christ; je vous ai souvent parlé d'eux, et je le fais maintenant encore en pleurant.19 Leur fin, c'est la perdition; ils ont pour dieu leur ventre, ils mettent leur gloire dans ce qui fait leur honte, ils ne pensent qu'aux réalités de ce monde.20 Quant à nous, notre droit de cité est dans le ciel, d'où nous attendons aussi comme Sauveur le Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

21 Il transformera notre corps de misère pour le rendre conforme à son corps glorieux par le pouvoir qu'il a de tout soumettre à son autorité.

Philippians 3

1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not irksome, but for you it is safe.2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision:3 for we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:4 though I myself might have confidence even in the flesh: if any other man thinketh to have confidence in the flesh, I yet more:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;6 as touching zeal, persecuting the church; as touching the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless.7 Howbeit what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ.8 Yea verily, and I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse, that I may gain Christ,9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, even that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;11 if by any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus.13 Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before,14 I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything ye are otherwise minded, this also shall God reveal unto you:16 only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.17 Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample.18 For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:19 whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.20 For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:21 who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.
