Proverbios 14

1 La mujer sabia edifica su casa;
la necia, con sus manos la destruye. 2 El que va por buen camino teme al Señor;
el que va por mal camino lo desprecia. 3 De la boca del necio brota arrogancia;
los labios del sabio son su propia protección. 4 Donde no hay bueyes el granero está vacío;
con la fuerza del buey aumenta la cosecha. 5 El testigo verdadero jamás engaña;
el testigo falso propaga mentiras. 6 El insolente busca sabiduría y no la halla;
para el entendido, el conocimiento es cosa fácil. 7 Manténte a distancia del necio,
pues en sus labios no hallarás conocimiento. 8 La sabiduría del prudente es discernir sus caminos,
pero al necio lo engaña su propia necedad. 9 Los necios hacen mofa de sus propias faltas,
pero los íntegros cuentan con el favor de Dios. 10 Cada corazón conoce sus propias amarguras,
y ningún extraño comparte su alegría. 11 La casa del malvado será destruida,
pero la morada del justo prosperará. 12 Hay caminos que al hombre le parecen rectos,
pero que acaban por ser caminos de muerte. 13 También de reírse duele el corazón,
y hay alegrías que acaban en tristeza. 14 El inconstante recibirá todo el pago de su inconstancia;
el hombre bueno, el premio de sus acciones. 15 El ingenuo cree todo lo que le dicen;
el prudente se fija por dónde va. 16 El sabio teme al Señor y se aparta del mal,
pero el necio es arrogante y se pasa de confiado. 17 El iracundo comete locuras,
pero el prudente sabe aguantar.s
18 Herencia de los inexpertos es la necedad;
corona de los prudentes, el conocimiento. 19 Los malvados se postrarán ante los buenos;
los impíos, ante el tribunals de los justos.
20 Al pobre hasta sus amigos lo aborrecen,
pero son muchos los que aman al rico. 21 Es un pecado despreciar al prójimo;
¡dichoso el que se compadece de los pobres! 22 Pierden el camino los que maquinan el mal,
pero hallan amor y verdad los que hacen el bien. 23 Todo esfuerzo tiene su recompensa,
pero quedarse sólo en palabras lleva a la pobreza. 24 La corona del sabio es su sabiduría;s
la de los necios, su necedad. 25 El testigo veraz libra de la muerte,
pero el testigo falso miente. 26 El temor del Señor es un baluarte seguro
que sirve de refugio a los hijos. 27 El temor del Señor es fuente de vida,
y aleja al hombre de las redes de la muerte. 28 Gloria del rey es gobernar a muchos;
un príncipe sin súbditos está arruinado. 29 El que es paciente muestra gran discernimiento;
el que es agresivo muestra mucha insensatez. 30 El corazón tranquilo da vida al cuerpo,
pero la envidia corroe los huesos. 31 El que oprime al pobre ofende a su Creador,
pero honra a Dios quien se apiada del necesitado. 32 El malvado cae por su propia maldad;
el justo halla refugio en su integridad.s
33 En el corazón de los sabios mora la sabiduría,
pero los necios ni siquiera la conocen.s
34 La justicia enaltece a una nación,
pero el pecado deshonra a todos los pueblos. 35 El rey favorece al siervo inteligente,
pero descarga su ira sobre el sinvergüenza.

PROVERBS 14

Wisdom Makes Good Sense

1 A woman's family
is held together
by her wisdom,
but it can be destroyed
by her foolishness.

2 By living right, you show
that you respect the [Lord];
by being deceitful, you show
that you despise him.

3 Proud fools are punished
for their stupid talk,
but sensible talk
can save your life.

4 Without the help of an ox
there can be no crop,
but with a strong ox
a big crop is possible.

5 An honest witness
tells the truth;
a dishonest witness
tells nothing but lies.

6 Make fun of wisdom,
and you will never find it.
But if you have understanding,
knowledge comes easily.

7 Stay away from fools,
or you won't learn a thing.

8 Wise people have enough sense
to find their way,
but stupid fools get lost.

9 Fools don't care
if they are wrong, t
but God is pleased
when people do right.

10 No one else can really know
how sad or happy you are.

11 The tent of a good person
stands longer than the house
of someone evil.

12  t You may think you are
on the right road
and still end up dead.

13 Sorrow may hide
behind laughter,
and happiness may end
in sorrow.

14 You harvest what you plant,
whether good or bad.

15 Don't be stupid
and believe all you hear;
be smart and know
where you are headed.

16 Only a stupid fool
is never cautious—
so be extra careful
and stay out of trouble.

17 Fools have quick tempers,
and no one likes you
if you can't be trusted.

18 Stupidity leads to foolishness;
be smart and learn.

19 The wicked will come crawling
to those who obey God.

20 You have no friends
if you are poor,
but you have lots of friends
if you are rich.

21 It's wrong to hate others,
but God blesses everyone
who is kind to the poor.

22 It's a mistake
to make evil plans,
but you will have loyal friends
if you want to do right.

23 Hard work is worthwhile,
but empty talk
will make you poor.

24 Wisdom can make you rich,
but foolishness leads
to more foolishness.

25 An honest witness
can save your life,
but liars can't be trusted.

26 If you respect the [Lord],
you and your children
have a strong fortress

27 and a life-giving fountain
that keeps you safe
from deadly traps.

28 Rulers of powerful nations
are held in honor;
rulers of weak nations
are nothing at all.

29 It's smart to be patient,
but it's stupid
to lose your temper.

30 It's healthy to be content,
but envy can eat you up.

31 If you mistreat the poor,
you insult your Creator;
if you are kind to them,
you show him respect.

32 In times of trouble
the wicked are destroyed,
but even at death
the innocent have faith.t

33 Wisdom is found in the minds
of people with good sense,
but fools don't know it.t

34 Doing right brings honor
to a nation,
but sin brings disgrace.

35 Kings reward servants
who act wisely,
but they punish those
who act foolishly.
