1 Thà người nghèo khổ ăn ở thanh liêm, Còn hơn là kẻ có môi miệng gian tà và là một kẻ ngây dại.2 Lòng thiếu tri thức ấy chẳng phải một điều hay; Vả kẻ nào vội bước bị vấp phạm.3 Sự ngu dại của người nào làm cho hư hỏng đường lối mình, Và lòng người oán Đức Giê-hô-va.4 Sự giàu có kết nhiều bậu bạn; Còn kẻ khó khăn dầu bạn cũng lìa bỏ.5 Chứng gian nào chẳng bị phạt; Và kẻ buông điều giả dối không sao thoát khỏi.6 Có nhiều kẻ tìm ơn người rộng rãi; Và mỗi người đều là bằng hữu của kẻ hay ban lễ vật.7 Hết thảy anh em ruột của kẻ nghèo đều ghét người; Phương chi bậu bạn sẽ lìa xa khỏi người! Người lấy lời đuổi theo chúng, chúng chẳng còn đó nữa!8 Ai có được sự khôn ngoan thương mến linh hồn mình; Còn ai giữ lấy sự thông sáng tìm được phước hạnh.9 Chứng gian sẽ chẳng thoát khỏi bị phạt; Và kẻ buông lời giả dối sẽ bị hư mất.10 Ăn ở sung sướng chẳng xứng hiệp cho kẻ ngu muội; Phương chi kẻ tôi mọi cai trị các hoàng tử!11 Sự khôn ngoan của người khiến cho người chậm nóng giận; Và người lấy làm danh dự mà bỏ qua tội phạm.12 Vua thạnh nộ khác nào sư tử gầm thét; Còn ân dịch người như sương móc xuống trên đồng cỏ.13 Con trai ngu muội là tai họa cho cha nó; Và sự tranh cãi của người vợ vốn một máng xối hằng chảy luôn.14 Nhà cửa và tài sản là cơ nghiệp của tổ phụ để lại; Còn một người vợ khôn ngoan do nơi Đức Giê-hô-va mà đến.15 Sự biếng nhác làm cho ngủ mê; Và linh hồn trễ nải sẽ bị đói khát.16 Ai gìn giữ điều răn, gìn giữ lấy linh hồn mình; Nhưng kẻ nào không coi chừng đường lối mình sẽ thác.17 Ai thương xót kẻ nghèo, tức cho Đức Giê-hô-va vay mượn; Ngài sẽ báo lại việc ơn lành ấy cho người.18 Hãy sửa phạt con ngươi trong lúc còn sự trông cậy; Nhưng chớ toan lòng giết nó.19 Người hay nóng giận dữ tợn, sẽ phải mang hình; Vì nếu con giải cứu hắn, ắt phải giải cứu lại nữa.20 Hay nghe lời khuyên dạy, và tiếp nhận sự giáo hối, Để con được khôn ngoan trong lúc cuối cùng.21 Trong lòng loài người có nhiều mưu kế; Song ý chỉ của Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ thành được.22 Lòng nhân từ của người làm cho người ta yêu chuộng mình; Và người nghèo khổ là hơn kẻ nói dối.23 Sự kính sợ Đức Giê-hô-va dẫn đến sự sống, Làm cho người ta được ở thỏa nguyện, không bị tai họa lâm đến.24 Kẻ biếng nhác thò tay mình trong dĩa, Rồi không thèm đem nó lên miệng mình nữa.25 Hãy đánh kẻ nhạo báng, thì người ngu dại sẽ trở nên khôn khéo; Khá sửa dạy người thông sáng, ắt người sẽ hiểu điều tri thức.26 Kẻ hãm hại cha mình, và xô đuổi mẹ mình, Là một con trai gây hổ ngươi và chiêu sỉ nhục.27 Hỡi con, hãy thôi nghe sự khuyên dạy Khiến cho con lầm lạc cách xa các lời tri thức.28 Chứng gian tà nhạo báng sự công bình; Và miệng kẻ dữ nuốt tội ác.29 Sự xét đoán dự bị cho kẻ nhạo báng; Và roi vọt sắm sửa cho lưng kẻ ngu muội.

1 Better is a poor person who walks in his integritys
than one who is perverse in his speecht and is a fool.s

2 It is dangeroust to have zealt without knowledge,
and the one who acts hastilyt makes poor choices.ts

3 A person’s follyt subvertsts his way,
andt his heart ragess against the Lord.

4 Wealth adds many friends,
but a poor person is separatedt from his friend.s

5 A false witnesst will not go unpunished,
and the one who spouts outt lies will not escape punishment.ts

6 Many people entreat the favorts of a generous person,t
and everyone is the friends of the person who gives gifts.t

7 All the relativest of a poor person hate him;t
how much more do his friends avoid him –
he pursues themt with words, but they do not respond.t

8 The one who acquires wisdomt loves himself;t
the one who preserves understanding will prosper.t

9 A false witness will not go unpunished,
and the one who spouts outt lies will perish.s

10 Luxury is not appropriatet for a fool;s
how much less for a servant to rule over princes!s

11 A person’s wisdomt makes him slow to anger,t
and it is his glorys to overlooktss an offense.

12 A king’s wrath is likes the roar of a lion,t
but his favor is like dew on the grass.s

13 A foolish childt is the ruin of his father,
and a contentious wifet is liket a constant dripping.s

14 A house and wealth are inherited from parents,t
but a prudent wifes is from the Lord.

15 Laziness brings ont a deep sleep,t
and the idle persont will go hungry.s

16 The one who obeys commandments guardst his life;
the one who despises his wayss will die.s

17 The one who is graciouss to the poor lendst to the Lord,
and the Lordt will repay hims for his good deed.t

18 Discipline your child, fort there is hope,
but do not set your heartt on causing his death.t

19 A person with great anger bears the penalty,s
but if you deliver him from it once, you will have to do it again.t

20 Listen to advices and receive discipline,
thatt you may become wiset by the end of your life.t

21 There are many planss in a person’s mind,t
but itt is the counselts of the Lord which will stand.

22 What is desirablet for a person is to show loyal love,t
and a poor person is better than a liar.s

23 Fearing the Lordt leadst to life,t
and one who does so will livet satisfied; he will not be afflictedt by calamity.

24 The sluggard plungest his hand in the dish,
and he will not even bring it back to his mouth!s

25 Flogt a scorner, and as a result the simpletons will learn prudence;s
correct a discerning person, and as a result he will understand knowledge.ts

26 The one who robst his fathers and chases away his mother
is a sont who brings shame and disgrace.

27 If you stop listening tot instruction, my child,
you will strayt from the words of knowledge.

28 A crooked witnessts scorns justice,
and the mouth of the wicked devourst iniquity.

29 Judgmentss are prepared for scorners,
and floggings for the backs of fools.
