Psalm 142
1 I cry out to the Lord with my voice; With my voice to the Lord I make my supplication.
A Plea for Relief from PersecutorsA Contemplation Of David. A Prayer When He Was in the Cave.
2 I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble.3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me.4 Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul.5 I cried out to You, O Lord: I said, You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.6 Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I.7 Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.

A Prayer for Help
1 t I pray to you, [Lord].
I beg for mercy.
2 I tell you all my worries
and my troubles,
3 and whenever I feel low,
you are there to guide me.
A trap has been hidden
along my pathway.
4 Even if you look,
you won't see anyone
who cares enough
to walk beside me.
There is no place to hide,
and no one who really cares.
5 I pray to you, [Lord]!
You are my place of safety,
and you are my choice
in the land of the living.
Please answer my prayer.
I am completely helpless.
6 Help! They are chasing me,
and they are too strong.
7 Rescue me from this prison,
so I can praise your name.
And when your people notice
your wonderful kindness to me,
they will rush to my side.
