Salmi 149

1 Alleluia. Cantate all’Eterno un nuovo cantico, cantate la sua lode nell’assemblea dei fedeli.2 Si rallegri Israele in colui che lo ha fatto, esultino i figliuoli di Sion nel loro re.3 Lodino il suo nome con danze, gli salmeggino col timpano e la cetra,4 perché l’Eterno prende piacere nel suo popolo, egli adorna di salvezza gli umili.5 Esultino i fedeli adorni di gloria, cantino di gioia sui loro letti.

6 Abbiano in bocca le alte lodi di Dio, una spada a due tagli in mano7 per far vendetta delle nazioni e infligger castighi ai popoli;8 per legare i loro re con catene e i loro nobili con ceppi di ferro,9 per eseguir su loro il giudizio scritto. Questo è l’onore che hanno tutti i suoi fedeli. Alleluia.

Psalm 149

1 Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song!
Praise him in the assembly of the godly!

2 Let Israel rejoice in their Creator!
Let the people of Zion delight in their king!

3 Let them praise his name with dancing!
Let them sing praises to him to the accompaniment of the tambourine and harp!

4 For the Lord takes delight in his people;
he exalts the oppressed by delivering them.

5 Let the godly rejoice because of their vindication!
Let them shout for joy upon their beds!

6 May they praise God
while they hold a two-edged sword in their hand,

7 in order to take revenge on the nations,
and punish foreigners.

8 They bind their kings in chains,
and their nobles in iron shackles,

9 and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced.
All his loyal followers will be vindicated.
