Salmi 29

1 Salmo di Davide. Date all’Eterno, o figliuoli de’ potenti, date all’Eterno gloria e forza!2 Date all’Eterno la gloria dovuta al suo nome; adorate l’Eterno, con santa magnificenza.3 La voce dell’Eterno è sulle acque; l’Iddio di gloria tuona; l’Eterno è sulle grandi acque.4 La voce dell’Eterno è potente, la voce dell’Eterno è piena di maestà.5 La voce dell’Eterno rompe i cedri; l’Eterno spezza i cedri del Libano.6 Fa saltellare i monti come vitelli, il Libano e il Sirio come giovani bufali.7 La voce dell’Eterno fa guizzare fiamme di fuoco.8 La voce dell’Eterno fa tremare il deserto; l’Eterno fa tremare il deserto di Cades.9 La voce dell’Eterno fa partorire le cerve e sfronda le selve. E nel suo tempio tutto esclama: Gloria!10 L’Eterno sedeva sovrano sul diluvio, anzi l’Eterno siede re in perpetuo.11 L’Eterno darà forza al suo popolo; l’Eterno benedirà il suo popolo dandogli pace.

A psalm of David.

1 Acknowledge the Lord, you heavenly beings,
acknowledge the Lord’s majesty and power!

2 Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord’s reputation!
Worship the Lord in holy attire!

3 The Lord’s shout is heard over the water;
the majestic God thunders,
the Lord appears over the surging water.

4 The Lord’s shout is powerful,
the Lord’s shout is majestic.

5 The Lord’s shout breaks the cedars,
the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf
and Sirion like a young ox.

7 The Lord’s shout strikes with flaming fire.

8 The Lord’s shout shakes the wilderness,
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The Lord’s shout bends the large trees
and strips the leaves from the forests.
Everyone in his temple says, “Majestic!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters,
the Lord sits enthroned as the eternal king.

11 The Lord gives his people strength;
the Lord grants his people security.
