Psalm 49
第49篇
1 もろもろの民よ、これを聞け、すべて世に住む者よ、耳を傾けよ。2 低きも高きも、富めるも貧しきも、共に耳を傾けよ。3 わが口は知恵を語り、わが心は知識を思う。4 わたしは耳をたとえに傾け、琴を鳴らして、わたしのなぞを解き明かそう。5 わたしをしえたげる者の不義がわたしを取り囲む悩みの日に、どうして恐れなければならないのか。6 彼らはおのが富をたのみ、そのたからの多いのを誇る人々である。7 まことに人はだれも自分をあがなうことはできない。そのいのちの価を神に払うことはできない。9 とこしえに生きながらえて、墓を見ないためにそのいのちをあがなうには、あまりに価高くて、それを満足に払うことができないからである。10 まことに賢い人も死に、愚かな者も、獣のような者も、ひとしく滅んで、その富を他人に残すことは人の見るところである。11 たとい彼らはその地を自分の名をもって呼んでも、墓こそ彼らのとこしえのすまい、世々彼らのすみかである。12 人は栄華のうちに長くとどまることはできない、滅びうせる獣にひとしい。13 これぞ自分をたのむ愚かな者どもの成りゆき、自分の分け前を喜ぶ者どもの果である。[セラ14 彼らは陰府に定められた羊のように死が彼らを牧するであろう。彼らはまっすぐに墓に下り、そのかたちは消えうせ、陰府が彼らのすまいとなるであろう。15 しかし神はわたしを受けられるゆえ、わたしの魂を陰府の力からあがなわれる。[セラ16 人が富を得るときも、その家の栄えが増し加わるときも、恐れてはならない。17 彼が死ぬときは何ひとつ携え行くことができず、その栄えも彼に従って下って行くことはないからである。18 たとい彼が生きながらえる間、自分を幸福と思っても、またみずから幸な時に、人々から称賛されても、19 彼はついにおのれの先祖の仲間に連なる。彼らは絶えて光を見ることがない。20 人は栄華のうちに長くとどまることはできない。滅びうせる獣にひとしい。
Psalm 49
For the music director, a psalm by the Korahites.
1 Listen to this, all you nations!
Pay attention, all you inhabitants of the world!
2 Pay attention, all you people,
both rich and poor!
3 I will declare a wise saying;
I will share my profound thoughts.
4 I will learn a song that imparts wisdom;
I will then sing my insightful song to the accompaniment of a harp.
5 Why should I be afraid in times of trouble,
when the sinful deeds of deceptive men threaten to overwhelm me?
6 They trust in their wealth
and boast in their great riches.
7 Certainly a man cannot rescue his brother;
he cannot pay God an adequate ransom price
8 (the ransom price for a human life is too high,
and people go to their final destiny),
9 so that he might continue to live forever
and not experience death.
10 Surely one sees that even wise people die;
fools and spiritually insensitive people all pass away
and leave their wealth to others.
11 Their grave becomes their permanent residence,
their eternal dwelling place.
They name their lands after themselves,
12 but, despite their wealth, people do not last,
they are like animals that perish.
13 This is the destiny of fools,
and of those who approve of their philosophy. (Selah)
14 They will travel to Sheol like sheep,
with death as their shepherd.
The godly will rule over them when the day of vindication dawns;
Sheol will consume their bodies and they will no longer live in impressive houses.
15 But God will rescue my life from the power of Sheol;
certainly he will pull me to safety. (Selah)
16 Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich
and his wealth multiplies!
17 For he will take nothing with him when he dies;
his wealth will not follow him down into the grave.
18 He pronounces this blessing on himself while he is alive:
“May men praise you, for you have done well!”
19 But he will join his ancestors;
they will never again see the light of day.
20 Wealthy people do not understand;
they are like animals that perish.
