La mujer y el dragón
1 Apareció entonces en el cielo una figura prodigiosa: una mujert vestida del sol, con la luna por pedestal y una corona de doce estrellas en la cabeza.t
2 Embarazada y a punto de dar a luz, los dolores del alumbramiento le arrancaban gemidos de angustia.t
3 Entonces otra figura prodigiosa apareció en el cielo: un enorme dragón* color de fuego, con siete cabezas y diez cuernost, y una diadema en cada una de sus siete cabezas.t 4 Con su cola arrastró un tercio de las estrellast del cielo y las arrojó sobre la tierra. Y el dragón se puso al acecho frente a la mujer que iba a dar a luz, dispuesto a devorar al hijo en cuanto naciera.t 5 La mujer dio a luz a un hijo varón, destinado a regir todas las naciones con cetro de hierro; un hijo que fue puesto a salvo junto al trono de Dios.t
6 Mientras tanto, la mujer huyó al desiertot, a un lugar preparado por Dios, donde será alimentada durante mil doscientos sesenta días.tVictoria de Miguel contra el dragón
7 En el cielo se libró un combate: Miguel y sus ángeles pelearon contra el dragón. Lucharon encarnizadamente el dragón y sus ángeles,t 8 pero no vencieron, y fueron arrojados del cielo para siempre. 9 Así que aquel enorme dragón, es decir, la antigua serpiente, la que tiene por nombre Diablo y Satanás, la que continuamente está seduciendo al mundo entero, fue precipitado a la tierra junto con sus ángeles.t
10 Y oí en el cielo una voz poderosa que decía:
— Ya está aquí la salvación,
el poder y el reino de nuestro Dios;
ya está aquí la soberanía de su Cristo.
Ha sido reducido a la impotencia
el que día y noche acusabat
a nuestros hermanos
delante de nuestro Dios.t
11 Han sido ellos quienes lo vencieron
por medio de la sangre del Cordero
y por medio del mensaje con que testificaron,
sin que su amor a la vida
les hiciera rehuir la muerte.
12 ¡Alégrense, por tanto, cielos,
y quienes en ellos tienen su morada!
Tiemblen, en cambio, ustedes, tierra y mar,
porque el diablo ha bajado hasta ustedes
ebrio de furor, sabiendo que es corto
el tiempo con que cuenta.t
13 Al verse arrojado a la tierra, el dragón se lanzó a perseguir a la mujer que había dado a luz al hijo varón. 14 Pero la mujer recibió dos alas de águila real, para que pudiera volar al lugar que tenía destinado en el desierto* y ser allí alimentada, lejos de la serpiente, durante tres tiempos y mediot.t 15 La serpiente lanzó entonces de su boca agua como si fuera un torrente con el fin de anegar a la mujer. 16 Pero la tierra acudió en ayuda de la mujer: abrió su boca y absorbió el torrente que había salido de la boca del dragón. 17 Despechado por su fracaso con la mujer, el dragón se fue a hacer la guerra contra el resto de los hijos de la mujer, es decir, contra los que cumplen los mandamientos de Dios y se mantienen como testigos fieles de Jesús.t 18 Y el dragón se pusot al acecho junto a la orilla del mar.

The Woman, the Child, and the Dragon
1 Thent a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and with the moon under her feet, and on her head was a crown of twelve stars.s2 Shet was pregnant and was screaming in labor pains, strugglingt to give birth.3 Thent another sign appeared in heaven: a huge red dragon that had seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadem crowns.ts4 Nowt the dragon’st tail swept away a third of the stars in heaven and hurled them to the earth. Thent the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child as soon as it was born.5 Sot the woman gave birth to a son, a male child,t who is going to ruletover all the nationstwith an iron rod.ts Hert child was suddenly caught up to God and to his throne,
6 and shet fled into the wildernesst where a place had been prepared for hert by God, so she could be taken care oft for 1,260 days.
War in Heaven
7 Thent war broke out in heaven: Michaels and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.8 Butt the dragon was not strong enough to prevail,t so there was no longer any place leftt in heaven for him and his angels.t9 Sot that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.
10 Thent I heard a loud voice in heaven saying,
“The salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God,
and the ruling authorityt of his Christ,t have now come,
because the accuser of our brothers and sisters,t
the one who accuses them day and nightt before our God,
has been thrown down.
11 Butt they overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony,
and they did not love their livess so much that they were afraid to die.
12 Therefore you heavens rejoice, and all who reside in them!
Butt woe to the earth and the sea
because the devil has come down to you!
Het is filled with terrible anger,
for he knows that he only has a little time!”
13 Nowt when the dragon realizedt that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.14 Butt the woman was given the two wings of a giant eagle so that she could fly out into the wilderness,t to the place Godt prepared for her, where she is taken care of – away from the presence of the serpent – for a time, times, and half a time.ss15 Thent the serpent spouted water like a river out of his mouth after the woman in an attempt tot sweep her away by a flood,16 butt the earth came to her rescue;t the ground opened upt and swallowed the river that the dragon had spewed from his mouth.17 Sot the dragon became enraged at the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her children,t those who keept God’s commandments and hold tot the testimony about Jesus.t
18 And the dragont stoods on the sandt of the seashore.s
