La femme et le dragon

1  tUn grand signe apparut dans le ciel : une femme vêtue du soleil, qui avait la lune sous ses pieds et une couronne de douze étoiles sur sa tête. 2 tElle était enceinte et elle criait dans les douleurs et les tourments de l’accouchement. 3 tUn autre signe apparut dans le ciel : un grand dragon rouge feu qui avait sept têtes et dix cornes, et sur ses têtes sept diadèmes. 4 tSa queue entraînait le tiers des étoiles du ciel ; il les jeta sur la terre. Le dragon se posta devant la femme qui allait accoucher, pour dévorer son enfant dès qu’elle accoucherait. 5 tElle mit au monde un fils, un mâle, qui va faire paître toutes les nations avec un sceptre de fer. Son enfant fut enlevé auprès de Dieu et de son trône.

6 tQuant à la femme, elle s’enfuit au désert, où Dieu lui avait préparé un lieu pour qu’elle y soit nourrie pendant mille deux cent soixante jours.
7  tIl y eut alors une guerre dans le ciel. Michel et ses anges combattirent le dragon. Le dragon combattit, lui et ses anges, 8 tmais il ne fut pas le plus fort, et il ne se trouva plus de place pour eux dans le ciel. 9 tIl fut jeté à bas, le grand dragon, le serpent d’autrefois, celui qui est appelé le diable et le Satan, celui qui égare toute la terre habitée ; il fut jeté sur la terre, et ses anges y furent jetés avec lui.

10 tAlors j’entendis dans le ciel une voix forte qui disait :
Maintenant sont arrivés le salut, la puissance,
le règne de notre Dieu
et le pouvoir de son Christ.
Car il a été jeté à bas, l’accusateur de nos frères,
celui qui les accusait devant notre Dieu jour et nuit.

11  tMais eux, ils l’ont vaincu à cause du sang de l’agneau
et à cause de la parole de leur témoignage ;
ils n’ont pas aimé leur vie, même face à la mort.

12  tAussi soyez en fête, cieux,
et vous qui y avez votre demeure !
Mais quel malheur pour vous, terre et mer,
car le diable est descendu vers vous
en grande fureur,
sachant qu’il a peu de temps !
13  tQuand le dragon vit qu’il avait été jeté sur la terre, il poursuivit la femme qui avait mis au monde l’enfant mâle. 14 tAlors les deux ailes du grand aigle furent données à la femme pour qu’elle s’envole au désert, vers son lieu, où elle devait être nourrie un temps, des temps et la moitié d’un temps, loin du serpent. 15 tDe sa bouche, le serpent vomit de l’eau comme un fleuve derrière la femme pour que le fleuve l’emporte. 16 tMais la terre secourut la femme, elle ouvrit sa bouche et engloutit le fleuve que le dragon avait vomi de sa bouche.

17 tEn colère contre la femme, le dragon s’en alla faire la guerre au reste de sa descendance, à ceux qui gardent les commandements de Dieu et qui portent le témoignage de Jésus.
18  tEt il se posta sur le sable de la mer.

Revelation 12

1 And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars;2 and she was the child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered.3 And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads seven diadems.4 And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon standeth before the woman that is about to be delivered, that when she is delivered he may devour her child.5 And she was delivered of a son, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that there they may nourish her a thousand two hundred and threescore days.7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going forth to war with the dragon; and the dragon warred and his angels;8 And they prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven.9 And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.10 And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accuseth them before our God day and night.11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death.12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe for the earth and for the sea: because the devil is gone down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman that brought forth the man child.14 And there were given to the woman the two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness unto her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream.16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth.17 And the dragon waxed wroth with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, that keep the commandments of God, and hold the testimony of Jesus:
