زن و اژدها

1 آنگاه نشانی عظیم و شگرف در آسمان پدیدار شد: زنی که خورشید به‌تن داشت و ماه زیر پا داشت و تاجی از دوازده ستاره بر سر داشت.2 زن آبستن بود و فریادش از درد زایمان بلند بود.3 آنگاه نشانی دیگر در آسمان پدیدار شد: اژدهایی سرخ‌فام و عظیم که هفت سر داشت و ده شاخ، و هفت تاج بر سرهایش بود.4 دُمش یک‌سوّم ستارگان آسمان را جاروب کرد و بر زمین فروریخت. اژدها پیش روی آن زن که در آستانۀ زایمان بود ایستاد، بدان قصد که فرزند او را تا به‌دنیا آمد، ببلعد.5 آن زن پسری به‌دنیا آورد، فرزند ذکوری که با عصای آهنین بر همۀ قومها فرمان خواهد راند. و فرزند او بی‌درنگ ربوده شد و نزد خدا و پیش تخت او فرستاده شد.6 و زن به بیابان، به جایی که خدا برای او مهیا کرده بود، گریخت تا در آنجا از او به مدت هزار و دویست و شصت روز نگهداری کنند.7 و ناگهان جنگی در آسمان درگرفت. میکائیل و فرشتگانش با اژدها جنگیدند و اژدها و فرشتگانش در برابر آنان به‌پیکار ایستادند،8 امّا شکست خوردند و پایگاه خود را در آسمان از دست دادند.9 اژدهای بزرگ به‌زیر افکنده شد، همان مار کهن که ابلیس یا شیطان نام دارد و جملۀ جهان را به گمراهی می‌کشاند. هم او و هم فرشتگانش به زمین افکنده شدند.10 آنگاه صدایی بلند در آسمان شنیدم که می‌گفت:
«اکنون نجات و قدرت و پادشاهی خدای ما،
و اقتدار مسیح او فرارسیده است.
زیرا که آن مدّعی برادران ما
که شبانه‌روز در پیشگاه خدای ما بر آنان اتهام می‌زند،
به‌‌زیر افکنده شده است.11 آنان با خون بره و با کلام شهادت خود بر او پیروز شده‌اند.
زیرا که جان خود را عزیز نشمردند، حتی تا به مرگ.12 پس شادی کنید ای آسمانها و ای ساکنان آنها!
امّا وای بر تو ای زمین، و وای بر تو ای دریا،
که ابلیس با خشم بسیار بر شما فرود آمده است،
زیرا که می‌داند فرصت چندانی ندارد.»13 و چون اژدها دید که به زمین فروافکنده شده است، به تعقیب آن زن پرداخت که فرزند ذکور زاده بود.14 امّا دو بالِ آن عقاب بزرگ به آن زن داده شد تا به جایگاهی در بیابان پرواز کند که برای او مهیا شده بود و در آنجا از او، دور از دسترس آن مار، زمانی و زمانها و نیم‌زمانی نگهداری شود.15 آنگاه مار از دهان خود آبی به‌سان رود جاری ساخت تا در پی آن زن روان شود و سیلابْ او را با خود ببرد.16 امّا زمین به یاری زن آمد و دهان گشود و سیلاب را که اژدها از دهان خود جاری ساخته بود، فروخورد.17 آنگاه اژدها به زن خشم برد و عزم آن کرد تا با دیگر فرزندان او بجنگد؛ یعنی با آنان که احکام خدا را اطاعت می‌کنند و شهادت عیسی را نگاه می‌دارند.

REVELATION 12

The Woman and the Dragon

1 Something important appeared in the sky. It was a woman whose clothes were the sun. The moon was under her feet, and a crown made of twelve stars was on her head.

2 She was about to give birth, and she was crying because of the great pain.
3  t Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads.

4 t With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.
5  t The woman gave birth to a son, who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The boy was snatched away. He was taken to God and placed on his throne.

6 The woman ran into the desert to a place that God had prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Michael Fights the Dragon

10 t Then I heard a voice from heaven shout,
“Our God has shown
his saving power,
and his kingdom has come!
God's own Chosen One
has shown his authority.
Satan accused our people
in the presence of God
day and night.
Now he has been thrown out!

11 “Our people defeated Satan
because of the bloodt
of the Lamb
and the message of God.
They were willing
to give up their lives.

12 “The heavens should rejoice,
together with everyone
who lives there.
But pity the earth
and the sea,
because the devil
was thrown down
to the earth.
He knows his time is short,
and he is very angry.”
13 When the dragon realized it had been thrown down to the earth, it tried to make trouble for the woman who had given birth to a son.

14 t But the woman was given two wings like those of a huge eagle, so she could fly into the desert. There she would escape from the snake and be taken care of for a time, two times, and half a time.
15 The snake then spewed out water like a river to sweep the woman away. 16 But the earth helped her and swallowed the water that had come from the dragon's mouth. 17 This made the dragon terribly angry with the woman. So it started a war against the rest of her children. They are the people who obey God and are faithful to what Jesus did and taught. 18 The dragont stood on the beach beside the sea.
