Den store striden

Kvinna og draken

1 Det synte seg eit stort teikn på himmelen: ei kvinne sveipt i sola, med månen under føtene og med ein krans av tolv stjerner på hovudet. t

2 Ho var med barn og skreik i barnsnaud og føderier.t
3 På himmelen synte det seg eit anna teikn òg: ein stor eldraud drake; han hadde sju hovud og ti horn og på hovuda sju kroner. t 4 Med halen drog han med seg tredjeparten av stjernene og kasta dei ned på jorda. Draken steig fram for kvinna som skulle føda; han ville sluka barnet så snart det var født. t 5 Då fødde ho eit gutebarn, som ein gong skal styra alle folkeslag med jernstav. Og barnet vart rykt opp til Gud, til hans kongsstol. t

6 Men kvinna rømde ut i øydemarka, til ein stad som Gud har laga til for henne; der skulle ho få mat og det ho elles trong i 1260 dagar.t
7 Då braut det ut krig i himmelen: Mikael og englane hans gjekk til strid mot draken. Draken stridde saman med englane sine; t t 8 men dei vart slegne, og det fanst ikkje lenger rom for dei i himmelen. 9 Den store draken vart styrta, det er den gamle ormen, han som vert kalla djevelen og Satan, og som forfører heile verda. Han vart kasta ned på jorda og englane hans saman med han. t 10 Og eg høyrde ei høg røyst i himmelen som sa: «Frå no av høyrer sigeren og makta og riket vår Gud til, og den han har salva, har herredømet. For klagaren er kasta, han som dag og natt førte klagemål mot brørne våre for vår Gud. t 11 Dei har vunne over han i kraft av Lammets blod og det ordet dei vitna om; dei hadde ikkje livet for kjært til å gå i døden.

12 Difor skal de jubla, de himlar og de som bur i dei! Men arme jord og hav! For djevelen har kome ned til dykk, og vreiden hans er stor, av di han veit at han har berre ei stutt tid att.»t
13 Då draken såg at han var kasta ned på jorda, forfylgde han kvinna som hadde født gutebarnet. 14 Men ho fekk dei to vengene til den store ørna, så ho kunne flyga ut til staden sin i øydemarka og få mat og det ho elles trong i ei tid og to tider og ei halv tid, langt borte frå ormen. t 15 Ut or gapet sitt spruta ormen vatn som ei elv etter kvinna, og ville riva henne bort i straumen. 16 Men jorda kom kvinna til hjelp. Ho opna munnen sin og svelgde elva som draken hadde sendt ut or gapet. 17 Draken vart harm på kvinna og drog av stad og ville føra krig mot dei andre i ætta hennar, mot dei som rettar seg etter Guds bod og held fast på vitnemålet om Jesus. t 18 Og han vart ståande på stranda ved havet.

REVELATION 12

The Woman and the Dragon

1 Something important appeared in the sky. It was a woman whose clothes were the sun. The moon was under her feet, and a crown made of twelve stars was on her head.

2 She was about to give birth, and she was crying because of the great pain.
3  t Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads.

4 t With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.
5  t The woman gave birth to a son, who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The boy was snatched away. He was taken to God and placed on his throne.

6 The woman ran into the desert to a place that God had prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Michael Fights the Dragon

10 t Then I heard a voice from heaven shout,
“Our God has shown
his saving power,
and his kingdom has come!
God's own Chosen One
has shown his authority.
Satan accused our people
in the presence of God
day and night.
Now he has been thrown out!

11 “Our people defeated Satan
because of the bloodt
of the Lamb
and the message of God.
They were willing
to give up their lives.

12 “The heavens should rejoice,
together with everyone
who lives there.
But pity the earth
and the sea,
because the devil
was thrown down
to the earth.
He knows his time is short,
and he is very angry.”
13 When the dragon realized it had been thrown down to the earth, it tried to make trouble for the woman who had given birth to a son.

14 t But the woman was given two wings like those of a huge eagle, so she could fly into the desert. There she would escape from the snake and be taken care of for a time, two times, and half a time.
15 The snake then spewed out water like a river to sweep the woman away. 16 But the earth helped her and swallowed the water that had come from the dragon's mouth. 17 This made the dragon terribly angry with the woman. So it started a war against the rest of her children. They are the people who obey God and are faithful to what Jesus did and taught. 18 The dragont stood on the beach beside the sea.
