Apocalipsis 12

La mujer y el dragón

1 Pudo entonces verse una gran señal en el cielo: Apareció una mujer cuyo vestido era el sol. La luna estaba debajo de sus pies, y en su cabeza llevaba una corona con doce estrellas.t2 Estaba encinta, y gritaba por los dolores de parto y por la angustia del alumbramiento.t3 También pudo verse en el cielo otra señal: Apareció un gran dragón rojo, con siete cabezas y diez cuernos,t y con una diadema en cada cabeza.4 Con su cola arrastró a la tercera parte de las estrellas del cielo, y las arrojó sobre la tierra.t Luego el dragón se colocó frente a la mujer que iba a dar a luz, para devorar a su hijo en cuanto naciera.5 La mujer dio a luz un hijo varón,t el cual gobernará a todas las naciones con cetro de hierro.t Pero su hijo le fue arrebatado para Dios y su trono.6 La mujer huyó entonces al desierto, a un lugar que Dios le había preparado, para que allí la alimentaran durante mil doscientos sesenta días.

7 Después hubo una batalla en el cielo: Miguelt y sus ángeles lucharon contra el dragón, y el dragón y sus ángeles también lucharon,8 pero no pudieron vencer, y ya no hubo lugar para ellos en el cielo.9 Así fue expulsado el gran dragón, que es la serpiente antiguat que se llama Diablo y Satanás, y que engaña a todo el mundo. Él y sus ángeles fueron arrojados a la tierra.t10 Entonces oí una fuerte voz en el cielo, que decía:
«¡Aquí están ya la salvación y el poder
y el reino de nuestro Dios,
y la autoridad de su Cristo!
¡Ya ha sido expulsado el que día y noche
acusaba a nuestros hermanost
delante de nuestro Dios!
11 Ellos lo vencieron por la sangre del Cordero
y por la palabra que ellos proclamaron;
siempre estuvieron preparados
a entregar sus vidas y morir.

12 ¡Alégrense por eso, ustedes los cielos!
¡Alégrense ustedes, que los habitan!
¡Pero ay de ustedes,
los que habitan la tierra y el mar!
El diablo ha llegado a ustedes lleno de ira,
porque sabe que le queda poco tiempo.»

13 Cuando el dragón se dio cuenta de que había sido arrojado a la tierra, persiguió a la mujer que había dado a luz al hijo varón.14 Pero a la mujer se le dieron las dos alas de la gran águila para que volara a su lugar en el desierto, donde es alimentada por un tiempo, y tiempos, y la mitad de un tiempo,t para estar a salvo de la serpiente.15 Entonces la serpiente arrojó mucha agua por la boca, para que la mujer fuera arrastrada como por un río.16 Pero la tierra vino en su ayuda, pues abrió su boca y se tragó el río que el dragón había arrojado por su boca.17 Entonces el dragón se llenó de ira contra la mujer y se fue a luchar contra el resto de sus descendientes, es decir, contra los que obedecen los mandamientos de Dios y tienen el testimonio de Jesucristo.

REVELATION 12

The Woman and the Dragon

1 Something important appeared in the sky. It was a woman whose clothes were the sun. The moon was under her feet, and a crown made of twelve stars was on her head.

2 She was about to give birth, and she was crying because of the great pain.
3  t Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads.

4 t With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.
5  t The woman gave birth to a son, who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The boy was snatched away. He was taken to God and placed on his throne.

6 The woman ran into the desert to a place that God had prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Michael Fights the Dragon

10 t Then I heard a voice from heaven shout,
“Our God has shown
his saving power,
and his kingdom has come!
God's own Chosen One
has shown his authority.
Satan accused our people
in the presence of God
day and night.
Now he has been thrown out!

11 “Our people defeated Satan
because of the bloodt
of the Lamb
and the message of God.
They were willing
to give up their lives.

12 “The heavens should rejoice,
together with everyone
who lives there.
But pity the earth
and the sea,
because the devil
was thrown down
to the earth.
He knows his time is short,
and he is very angry.”
13 When the dragon realized it had been thrown down to the earth, it tried to make trouble for the woman who had given birth to a son.

14 t But the woman was given two wings like those of a huge eagle, so she could fly into the desert. There she would escape from the snake and be taken care of for a time, two times, and half a time.
15 The snake then spewed out water like a river to sweep the woman away. 16 But the earth helped her and swallowed the water that had come from the dragon's mouth. 17 This made the dragon terribly angry with the woman. So it started a war against the rest of her children. They are the people who obey God and are faithful to what Jesus did and taught. 18 The dragont stood on the beach beside the sea.
