ΑΠΟΚΑΛΥΨΗ ΙΩΑΝΝΟΥ 12

Η γυναίκα και ο δράκοντας

1 Ύστερα φάνηκε ένα μεγάλο θαυμαστό *σημάδι στον ουρανό: Μια γυναίκα ντυμένη τον ήλιο, με το φεγγάρι κάτω απ’ τα πόδια της, και στο κεφάλι της στεφάνι με δώδεκα αστέρια. 2 Ήταν έγκυος και φώναζε από τους πόνους και τις ωδίνες της γέννας. 3 Κι άλλο σημάδι φάνηκε στον ουρανό: Ένας μεγάλος δράκοντας κόκκινος σαν φωτιά, με εφτά κεφάλια και δέκα κέρατα, και στα κεφάλια του εφτά στέμματα. 4 Η ουρά του έσυρε το ένα τρίτο των άστρων του ουρανού και τα έριξε στη γη. Ο δράκοντας στάθηκε μπροστά στη γυναίκα την ετοιμόγεννη, για να καταβροχθίσει το παιδί της, μόλις αυτή το γεννήσει. 5 Η γυναίκα γέννησε παιδί αρσενικό, που θα κυβερνήσει όλα τα έθνη με σιδερένια ράβδο. Άρπαξαν όμως το παιδί της και το έφεραν στο Θεό και στο θρόνο του.

6 Η γυναίκα έφυγε τότε στην έρημο, στον τόπο που της ετοίμασε ο Θεός· εκεί θα την τρέφουν χίλιες διακόσιες εξήντα μέρες.
7 Έγινε τότε πόλεμος στον ουρανό· από τη μια ο Μιχαήλ με τους *αγγέλους του κι από την άλλη ο δράκοντας. Ο δράκοντας με τους αγγέλους του πολέμησε 8 αλλά δεν επικράτησε, κι έτσι δεν του επιτράπηκε να μείνει άλλο στον ουρανό. 9 Έτσι, ρίχτηκε ο δράκος ο μεγάλος, ο όφις ο αρχαίος, που λέγεται διάβολος και *σατανάς και παραπλανάει ολόκληρη την οικουμένη, ρίχτηκε κάτω στη γη, και μαζί του έριξαν και τους αγγέλους του.

10 Άκουσα τότε μια δυνατή φωνή στον ουρανό να λέει:
«Έφτασε τώρα η σωτηρία και η δύναμη
κι η *βασιλεία του Θεού μας
κι η εξουσία του *Μεσσία του.
Διώχτηκε από τον ουρανό ο κατήγορος των αδερφών μας,
που τους κατηγορούσε μέρα νύχτα μπροστά στο Θεό μας.

11 Αυτόν όμως τον νίκησαν οι αδερφοί μας με το *αίμα του *Αρνίου και με τη μαρτυρία,
που έδωσαν για τον Ιησού,
αδιαφορώντας για τη ζωή τους, φτάνοντας ως και στο θάνατο.

12 Γι’ αυτό χαρείτε, *ουρανοί κι όσοι τους κατοικείτε!
Αλίμονό σας, γη και θάλασσα,
γιατί σ’ εσάς ο διάβολος κατέβη
έχοντας θυμό μεγάλο,
ξέροντας πως λίγος καιρός του απομένει».
13 Όταν είδε ο δράκοντας πως ρίχτηκε στη γη, άρχισε να καταδιώκει τη γυναίκα που γέννησε το αγόρι. 14 Στη γυναίκα όμως δόθηκαν οι δυο φτερούγες του μεγάλου αετού, για να πετάξει στην έρημο, στον τόπο της, και να ζήσει μακριά από την απειλή του όφεως τριάμισι χρόνια. 15 Έβγαλε τότε ο όφις από το στόμα του νερό ποτάμι πίσω από τη γυναίκα για να την παρασύρει το νερό. 16 Η γη όμως βοήθησε τη γυναίκα, άνοιξε η γη το στόμα της και κατάπιε το ποτάμι που έβγαλε ο δράκοντας απ’ το στόμα του. 17 Θύμωσε τότε ο δράκοντας με τη γυναίκα, κι έφυγε για να πολεμήσει με τους υπόλοιπους απογόνους της, μ’ εκείνους που τηρούν τις εντολές του Θεού και μαρτυρούν την πίστη τους στον Ιησού.

Revelation 12

1 And a great sign was seen in heaven: a woman arrayed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars;2 and she was the child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered.3 And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his heads seven diadems.4 And his tail draweth the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon standeth before the woman that is about to be delivered, that when she is delivered he may devour her child.5 And she was delivered of a son, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that there they may nourish her a thousand two hundred and threescore days.7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going forth to war with the dragon; and the dragon warred and his angels;8 And they prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven.9 And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.10 And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accuseth them before our God day and night.11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death.12 Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe for the earth and for the sea: because the devil is gone down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time.

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the earth, he persecuted the woman that brought forth the man child.14 And there were given to the woman the two wings of the great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness unto her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the woman water as a river, that he might cause her to be carried away by the stream.16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon cast out of his mouth.17 And the dragon waxed wroth with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, that keep the commandments of God, and hold the testimony of Jesus:
