APOCALIPSIS 12

La mujer y el dragón

1 Luego se vio en el cielo algo muy grande y misterioso: apareció una mujer envuelta en el sol. Tenía la luna debajo de sus pies, y llevaba en la cabeza una corona con doce estrellas.

2 La mujer estaba embarazada y daba gritos de dolor, pues estaba a punto de tener a su hijo.
3 De pronto se vio en el cielo algo también misterioso: apareció un gran dragón rojo, t que tenía siete cabezas, diez cuernos y una corona en cada cabeza.

4 Ese dragon arrastró con la cola a la tercera parte de las estrellas del cielo, y las arrojó a la tierra; luego se detuvo frente a la mujer, para comerse a su hijo tan pronto como naciera.
5 La mujer tuvo un hijo que gobernaría con gran poder a todos los países de este mundo. Pero le quitaron a su hijo y lo llevaron ante Dios y ante su trono.

6 La mujer huyó al desierto, donde Dios había preparado un lugar para que la cuidaran durante tres años y medio. t

Miguel y el dragón

7 Después hubo una batalla en el cielo. Uno de los jefes de los ángeles, llamado Miguel, acompañado de su ejército, peleó contra el dragón. El dragón y sus ángeles lucharon,8 pero no pudieron vencer, y ya no se les permitió quedarse más tiempo en el cielo.

9 Arrojaron del cielo al gran dragón, que es la serpiente antigua, es decir, el diablo, llamado Satanás, que se dedica a engañar a todo el mundo. Él y sus ángeles fueron lanzados a la tierra.

10 Entonces oí una fuerte voz que decía:

«Nuestro Dios
ha salvado a su pueblo;
ha mostrado su poder,
y es el único rey.
Su Mesías gobierna
sobre todo el mundo.

»El diablo ha sido
arrojado del cielo,
pues día y noche,
delante de nuestro Dios,
acusaba a los nuestros.

11 »La muerte del Cordero t
y el mensaje anunciado
han sido su derrota.
Los nuestros no tuvieron miedo,
sino que se dispusieron a morir.

12 »¡Que se alegren los cielos,
y todos los que allí viven!
Pero ¡qué mal les va a ir
a los que viven en la tierra,
y a los que habitan en el mar!

»El diablo está muy enojado;
ha bajado para combatirlos.
¡Bien sabe el diablo
que le queda poco tiempo!»

13 Cuando el dragón se dio cuenta de que había sido lanzado a la tierra, empezó a perseguir a la mujer que había tenido a su hijo.14 Pero Dios le dio a la mujer dos grandes alas de águila para que escapara volando, lejos del dragón, hacia el lugar en el desierto donde la cuidarían durante tres años y medio.15 El dragón arrojó mucha agua por la boca, y con el agua formó un río para que arrastrara a la mujer.16 Pero la tierra vino en su ayuda: abrió un hueco y, como si fuera su boca, se tragó toda el agua que el dragón había arrojado.17 Entonces el dragón se enojó mucho contra la mujer, y fue a pelear contra el resto de sus descendientes, es decir, contra los que obedecen los mandamientos de Dios y siguen confiando en el mensaje de Jesús.

18 Y el dragón se detuvo a la orilla del mar.

REVELATION 12

The Woman and the Dragon

1 Something important appeared in the sky. It was a woman whose clothes were the sun. The moon was under her feet, and a crown made of twelve stars was on her head.

2 She was about to give birth, and she was crying because of the great pain.
3  t Something else appeared in the sky. It was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and a crown on each of its seven heads.

4 t With its tail, it dragged a third of the stars from the sky and threw them down to the earth. Then the dragon turned toward the woman, because it wanted to eat her child as soon as it was born.
5  t The woman gave birth to a son, who would rule all nations with an iron rod. The boy was snatched away. He was taken to God and placed on his throne.

6 The woman ran into the desert to a place that God had prepared for her. There she would be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Michael Fights the Dragon

10 t Then I heard a voice from heaven shout,
“Our God has shown
his saving power,
and his kingdom has come!
God's own Chosen One
has shown his authority.
Satan accused our people
in the presence of God
day and night.
Now he has been thrown out!

11 “Our people defeated Satan
because of the bloodt
of the Lamb
and the message of God.
They were willing
to give up their lives.

12 “The heavens should rejoice,
together with everyone
who lives there.
But pity the earth
and the sea,
because the devil
was thrown down
to the earth.
He knows his time is short,
and he is very angry.”
13 When the dragon realized it had been thrown down to the earth, it tried to make trouble for the woman who had given birth to a son.

14 t But the woman was given two wings like those of a huge eagle, so she could fly into the desert. There she would escape from the snake and be taken care of for a time, two times, and half a time.
15 The snake then spewed out water like a river to sweep the woman away. 16 But the earth helped her and swallowed the water that had come from the dragon's mouth. 17 This made the dragon terribly angry with the woman. So it started a war against the rest of her children. They are the people who obey God and are faithful to what Jesus did and taught. 18 The dragont stood on the beach beside the sea.
