Johannes' åpenbaring 16

1  t Og jeg hørte fra tempelet en høy røst som sa til de sju englene: «Gå av sted og tøm de sju skålene med Guds vrede ut over jorden!»

2  t Da gikk den første engelen bort og tømte sin skål ut over jorden. Og vonde og forferdelige byller brøt ut på de menneskene som bar dyrets merke og tilba bildet av det.

3  t Den andre engelen tømte sin skål i havet, og det ble til blod som fra en død kropp, og alle levende skapninger i havet døde.
4 Den tredje engelen tømte sin skål i elvene og kildene, og de ble til blod.

5 t Og jeg hørte engelen over vannene si:
«Rettferdig er du som dømmer slik,
du som er og som var, du hellige.

6  t For de har utøst de helliges og profetenes blod,
og blod har du gitt dem å drikke.
Det er som fortjent!»

7  t Og jeg hørte alteret si:
«Ja, Herre Gud, du Allmektige,
sanne og rettferdige er dine dommer.»
8 Den fjerde engelen tømte sin skål ut over solen. Da fikk den makt til å svi menneskene med ild,

9 t og menneskene ble svidd i voldsom hete. Likevel spottet de Guds navn, han som hadde disse plagene i sin makt, og de vendte ikke om så de ga ham ære.
10  t Den femte engelen tømte sin skål ut over dyrets trone. Da ble dyrets rike lagt i mørke, og folk bet seg i tungen av smerte.

11 t Men de spottet himmelens Gud for smertene og byllene sine, og de vendte ikke om fra sine gjerninger.
12  t t Den sjette engelen tømte sin skål i den store elven Eufrat. Vannet i den tørket bort, så det kunne ryddes vei for kongene fra Østen. 13 Og jeg så at det ut fra dragens og dyrets og den falske profetens munn kom tre urene ånder som lignet frosker.

14 t Dette er demoniske ånder som gjør underfulle tegn, og de drar ut til kongene i hele verden for å samle dem til krigen på Guds, Den allmektiges store dag.

15  t – «Se, jeg kommer som en tyv. Salig er den som våker og tar vare på sine klær, så han ikke må gå naken og vise sin skam.» –

16  t Og åndene samlet kongene på stedet som på hebraisk heter Harmageddon.
17  t Den sjuende engelen tømte sin skål ut i luften. Da lød det fra tronen i tempelet en høy røst som sa: «Det er skjedd!» 18 t Og det kom lyn og drønn og tordenbrak, og et kraftig jordskjelv som det ikke har vært maken til så lenge det har levd mennesker på jorden – så kraftig var det. 19 tt Den store byen ble kløvd i tre deler, og folkeslagenes byer ble lagt i grus. Gud glemte ikke det store Babylon og lot det få begeret med hans harmes og vredes vin. 20 t Hver øy ble borte, og fjellene forsvant. 21 tt Fra himmelen falt store hagl så tunge som en talent ned over menneskene. Men de spottet Gud for plagen med haglet, for plagen var stor og forferdelig.

Revelation 16

The Bowls of God’s Wrath

1 Thent I heard a loud voice from the temple declaring to the seven angels: “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls containing God’s wrath.”t

2 Sot the first angelt went and poured out his bowl on the earth. Thent ugly and painful sorest appeared on the peoplet who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.

3 Next,t the second angelt poured out his bowl on the sea and it turned into blood, like that of a corpse, and every living creature that was in the sea died.
4 Thent the third angelt poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into blood.

5 Nowt I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are justt – the one who is and who was,
the Holy One – because you have passed these judgments,t

6 because they poured out the blood of your saints and prophets,
sot you have given them blood to drink. They got what they deserved!”t

7 Thent I heard the altar reply,t “Yes, Lord God, the All-Powerful,t your judgments are true and just!”
8 Thent the fourth angelt poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was permitted to scorch peoplet with fire.

9 Thust peoplet were scorched by the terrible heat,t yett they blasphemed the name of God, who has ruling authorityt over these plagues, and they would not repent and give him glory.
10 Thent the fifth angelt poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast so thatt darkness covered his kingdom,t and peoplet began to bitet their tongues becauset of their pain.

11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their sufferingst and because of their sores,t but neverthelesst they still refused to repentt of their deeds.
12 Thent the sixth angelt poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and dried up its watert to prepare the wayt for the kings from the east.t13 Thent I saw three unclean spiritss that looked like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of the demons performing signs who go out to the kings of the eartht to bring them together for the battle that will take place on the great day of God, the All-Powerful.t

15 (Look! I will come like a thief!
Blessed is the one who stays alert and does not loset his clothes so that he will not have to walk around naked and his shameful conditiont be seen.)s

16 Nowt the spiritst gathered the kings and their armiest to the place that is called Armageddonst in Hebrew.
17 Finallyt the seventh angelt poured out his bowl into the air and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying: “It is done!”18 Thent there were flashes of lightning, roaring,t and crashes of thunder, and there was a tremendous earthquake – an earthquake unequaled since humanityt has been on the earth, so tremendous was that earthquake.19 Thet great city was split into three parts and the cities of the nationst collapsed.t Sot Babylon the great was remembered before God, and was given the cupt filled with the wine made of God’s furious wrath.t20 Everyt island fled awayt and no mountains could be found.s

21 And gigantic hailstones, weighing about a hundred poundst each, fell from heavent on people,t but theyt blasphemed God because of the plague of hail, since itt was so horrendous.t
