Las copas del castigo

1 Oí una fuerte voz, que salía del santuario y que decía a los siete ángeles: “Id y vaciad sobre la tierra esas siete copas del terrible castigo que viene de Dios.”

2 El primer ángel fue y vació su copa sobre la tierra; y a todos los que tenían la marca del monstruo y adoraban su imagen les salió una llaga maligna y dolorosa.t

3 El segundo ángel vació su copa sobre el mar, y el agua del mar se volvió sangre, como la de un hombre asesinado, y murió todo lo que tenía vida en el mar.t
4 El tercer ángel vació su copa sobre los ríos y los manantiales, y se volvieron sangre.t

5 Luego oí que el ángel de las aguas decía:
“Tú eres justo por haber juzgado así,
Dios santo, que eres y que eras.

6 Por cuanto ellos derramaron la sangre
de los que pertenecen a tu pueblo santo
y de los profetas,
también tú ahora les das a beber sangre.
¡Se lo han merecido!”

7 Oí también que el del altar decía:
“Sí, Señor, Dios todopoderoso,
tú has juzgado con verdad y rectitud.”
8 El cuarto ángel vació su copa sobre el sol,t y se le dio al sol poder para quemar con fuego a la gente.

9 Todos quedaron terriblemente quemados; pero no se convirtieron a Dios ni lo alabaron, sino que dijeron cosas ofensivas contra él, que tiene poder sobre estas calamidades.
10 El quinto ángel vació su copa sobre el trono del monstruo y su reino quedó en oscuridad.t La gente se mordía la lengua de dolor,

11 pero ni aun así dejaron de hacer el mal, sino que a causa de sus dolores y sus llagas dijeron cosas ofensivas contra el Dios del cielo.

12 El sexto ángel vació su copa sobre el gran río Éufrates, y el agua del río se secót para dar paso a los reyes que venían de oriente.
13 De la boca del dragón, de la boca del monstruo y de la boca del falso profetat vi salir tres espíritus impuros en forma de ranas.t

14 Eran espíritus de demonios, que hacían señales milagrosas y salían a reunir a todos los reyes del mundo para la batalla del gran día del Dios todopoderoso.

15 “Mirad, yo vengo inesperadamente, como un ladrón.t Dichoso el que se mantiene despierto y conserva su ropa, para no andar desnudo dejando ver la vergüenza de su desnudez.”t

16 Y reunieron a los reyes en el lugar que en hebreo se llama Harmagedón.t

17 El séptimo ángel vació su copa en el aire, y desde el santuario del cielo salió una fuerte voz que venía del trono y decía: “¡Ya está hecho!”
18 Entonces hubo relámpagos, estruendost y truenos, y la tierra tembló a causa de un terremotot tan violento como jamás hubo otro igual desde que el mundo es mundo. 19 La gran ciudadt se partió en tres, y las ciudades del mundo se derrumbaron; y Dios se acordó de la gran ciudad de Babilonia para hacerle beber el vino de su ira terrible.t 20 Todas las islas y los montes desaparecieron;t

21 del cielo cayeron sobre la gente enormes granizos,t de más de cuarenta kilos,t y los hombres dijeron cosas ofensivas contra Dios por la calamidad del granizo, porque fue un castigo espantoso.

Revelation 16

The Bowls of God’s Wrath

1 Thent I heard a loud voice from the temple declaring to the seven angels: “Go and pour out on the earth the seven bowls containing God’s wrath.”t

2 Sot the first angelt went and poured out his bowl on the earth. Thent ugly and painful sorest appeared on the peoplet who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his image.

3 Next,t the second angelt poured out his bowl on the sea and it turned into blood, like that of a corpse, and every living creature that was in the sea died.
4 Thent the third angelt poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned into blood.

5 Nowt I heard the angel of the waters saying:
“You are justt – the one who is and who was,
the Holy One – because you have passed these judgments,t

6 because they poured out the blood of your saints and prophets,
sot you have given them blood to drink. They got what they deserved!”t

7 Thent I heard the altar reply,t “Yes, Lord God, the All-Powerful,t your judgments are true and just!”
8 Thent the fourth angelt poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was permitted to scorch peoplet with fire.

9 Thust peoplet were scorched by the terrible heat,t yett they blasphemed the name of God, who has ruling authorityt over these plagues, and they would not repent and give him glory.
10 Thent the fifth angelt poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast so thatt darkness covered his kingdom,t and peoplet began to bitet their tongues becauset of their pain.

11 They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their sufferingst and because of their sores,t but neverthelesst they still refused to repentt of their deeds.
12 Thent the sixth angelt poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and dried up its watert to prepare the wayt for the kings from the east.t13 Thent I saw three unclean spiritss that looked like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of the demons performing signs who go out to the kings of the eartht to bring them together for the battle that will take place on the great day of God, the All-Powerful.t

15 (Look! I will come like a thief!
Blessed is the one who stays alert and does not loset his clothes so that he will not have to walk around naked and his shameful conditiont be seen.)s

16 Nowt the spiritst gathered the kings and their armiest to the place that is called Armageddonst in Hebrew.
17 Finallyt the seventh angelt poured out his bowl into the air and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying: “It is done!”18 Thent there were flashes of lightning, roaring,t and crashes of thunder, and there was a tremendous earthquake – an earthquake unequaled since humanityt has been on the earth, so tremendous was that earthquake.19 Thet great city was split into three parts and the cities of the nationst collapsed.t Sot Babylon the great was remembered before God, and was given the cupt filled with the wine made of God’s furious wrath.t20 Everyt island fled awayt and no mountains could be found.s

21 And gigantic hailstones, weighing about a hundred poundst each, fell from heavent on people,t but theyt blasphemed God because of the plague of hail, since itt was so horrendous.t
