هفت پیالۀ خشم خدا
1 آنگاه صدایی بلند از معبد شنیدم که به آن هفت فرشته میگفت: «بروید و هفت پیالۀ خشم خدا را بر زمین فروریزید.»2 فرشتۀ اوّل رفت و پیالۀ خود را بر خشکی فروریخت، و زخمهای زشت و دردناک بر پیکر مردمی که علامت آن وحش را بر خود داشتند و تمثال او را میپرستیدند، پدیدار شد.3 فرشتۀ دوّم پیالۀ خود را به دریا فروریخت، و دریا به خون بدل شد، خونی که به خون انسان مرده میمانست، و همۀ زندگانِ دریا هلاک شدند.4 فرشتۀ سوّم پیالۀ خود را بر رودخانهها و چشمههای آب فروریخت، و رودخانهها و چشمهها به خون بدل شدند.5 آنگاه شنیدم که فرشتۀ نگهبان آبها چنین گفت:
«تو عادلی در این حکمها که کردی،
تو که هستی و بودهای، ای قدّوس؛6 زیرا که آنان خون مقدّسان و انبیای تو را ریختند،
پس به آنان خون دادی تا بنوشند
که سزایشان همین است!»7 و شنیدم از مذبح پاسخ آمد که:
«آری، ای خداوندْ خدای قادر مطلق،
حق است و عدل، کیفری که تو میدهی.»8 فرشتۀ چهارم پیالۀ خود را بر خورشید فروریخت، و خورشید فرمان یافت تا مردم را به آتش بسوزاند.9 و مردم از شدت گرما سوختند و نام خدا را که اختیار این بلاها با اوست، ناسزا گفتند، امّا توبه نکردند و او را جلال ندادند.10 فرشتۀ پنجم پیالۀ خود را بر تختِ آن وحش فروریخت و قلمرو او در تاریکی فرورفت. آدمیان از فزونیِ درد، زبان خود را گاز میگرفتند.11 و بهسبب آلام و جراحات خود به خدای آسمان ناسزا میگفتند، امّا از اعمال خود توبه نمیکردند.12 فرشتۀ ششم پیالۀ خود را بر رود بزرگِ فرات فروریخت و آب آن خشکید تا راه برای شاهانِ شرق باز شود.13 آنگاه دیدم سه روح خبیث در هیئت وزغ از دهان اژدها و از دهان آن وحش و از دهان نبی کذّاب بیرون آمدند.14 اینان ارواح دیوهایند که آیات بهظهور میآورند و نزد شاهان سرتاسر جهان میروند تا آنان را برای نبردِ روزِ عظیمِ خدای قادر مطلق گرد هم آورند.15 «بهوش باشید، که چون دزد میآیم! خوشا به حال آن که بیدار میماند و جامهاش را با خود نگاه میدارد، مبادا عریان روانه شود و رسوای عالم گردد.»16 آنگاه آن سه روح پلید شاهان زمین را در جایی که به زبان عبرانیان «حارمَگِدّون» خوانده میشود، گرد هم آوردند.17 فرشتۀ هفتم پیالۀ خود را در هوا پاشید و از آن تخت که در معبد بود، بانگی بلند برآمد که: «کار تمام است!»18 آنگاه برق آذرخش و غریوِ غرّش رعد بود که برمیخاست، و زمینلرزهای عظیم واقع شد، چندان عظیم که نظیرش تا انسان بر زمین میزیسته، روی نداده بود.19 شهر بزرگ سه پاره شد و شهرهای قومها فروپاشیدند. و خدا بابِل بزرگ را بهیاد آورد و جام سرشار از شرابِ خشمِ خروشانِ خود را به او نوشاند.20 جزیرهها گریختند و کوهها محو و نابود شدند.21 و از آسمان تگرگی سخت سنگین بر آدمیان فروبارید که هر دانه، انگاری پنجاه کیلوt وزن داشت؛ و آدمیان خدای را از بابت این بلا ناسزا گفتند، زیرا که بلایی سخت سنگین بود.
REVELATION 16
The Bowls of God's Anger
1 From the temple I heard a voice shout to the seven angels, “Go and empty the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth.”
2 t The first angel emptied his bowl on the earth. At once ugly and painful sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and worshiped the idol.
3 The second angel emptied his bowl on the sea. At once the sea turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.
4 t The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and streams. At once they turned to blood.
5 Then I heard the angel, who has power over water, say,
“You have always been,
and you always will be
the holy God.
You had the right
to judge in this way.
6 They poured out the bloodt
of your people
and your prophets.
So you gave them blood
to drink as they deserve!”
7 After this, I heard
the altar shout,
“Yes, Lord God All-Powerful,
your judgments are honest
and fair.”
8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl on the sun, and it began to scorch people like fire.
9 Everyone was scorched by its great heat, and all of them cursed the name of God who had power over these terrible troubles. But no one turned to God and praised him.
10 t The fifth angel emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast. At once darkness covered its kingdom, and its people began biting their tongues in pain.
11 And because of their painful sores, they cursed the God who rules in heaven. But still they did not stop doing evil things.
12 t The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it completely dried up to make a road for the kings from the east. 13 An evil spirit that looked like a frog came out of the mouth of the dragon. One also came out of the mouth of the beast, and another out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 These evil spirits had the power to work miracles. They went to every king on earth, to bring them together for a war against God All-Powerful. But that will be the day of God's great victory.
15 t Remember Christ says, “When I come, it will surprise you like a thief! But God will bless you, if you are awake and ready. Then you won't have to walk around naked and be ashamed.”
16 t Those armies came together in a place that in Hebrew is called Armagedon.t
17 As soon as the seventh angel emptied his bowl in the air, a loud voice from the throne in the temple shouted, “It's done!” 18 t There were flashes of lightning, roars of thunder, and the worst earthquake in all history. 19 t The great city of Babylon split into three parts, and the cities of other nations fell. So God made Babylon drink from the wine cup filled with his anger. 20 t Every island ran away, and the mountains disappeared. 21 t Hailstones, weighing about 50 kilograms each, fell from the sky on people. Finally, the people cursed God, because the hail was so terrible.
