Johannes' openberring 16

1 Så høyrde eg ei høg røyst frå templet som sa til dei sju englane: «Gå av stad og tøm dei sju skålene med Guds vreide ut over jorda!»t

2 Då gjekk den fyrste og tømde si skål ut over jorda. Og vonde, farlege svullar braut ut på dei menneska som bar merket åt dyret, og som tilbad biletet av dyret.t

3 Den andre engelen tømde si skål i havet, og det vart til blod som av ein død, og alt liv i havet døydde.t
4 Den tredje engelen tømde si skål i elvane og kjeldene, og dei vart til blod. 5 Og eg høyrde engelen over vatnet seia: «Rettferdig er du som dømer slik, du som er og som var, du heilage. t 6 For dei har rent ut blod frå heilage menn og profetar, og du har gjeve dei blod å drikka. Det har dei fortent.» t

7 Og eg høyrde altaret seia: «Ja, Herre Gud, du Allmektige, sanne og rettferdige er dine domar.»t
8 Den fjerde engelen tømde si skål ut over sola. Då fekk ho makt til å svi menneska med eld,

9 og menneska vart brende i sterk hete. Likevel spotta dei Guds namn, han som har makt over desse plagene, og dei vende ikkje om og gav Gud ære.t
10 Den femte engelen tømde si skål ut over kongsstolen åt dyret. Då vart riket til dyret lagt i mørker, og folk beit seg i tunga av pinsle. t

11 Men pinslene og svullane deira gjorde at dei spotta Gud i himmelen, og dei vende ikkje om frå sine gjerningar.t
12 Den sjette engelen tømde si skål i den store elva Eufrat. Då turka vatnet i elva bort, så det kunne rydjast veg for kongane frå Austerland. t 13 Og eg såg at det kom tre ureine ånder or gapet på draken og or gapet på dyret og or munnen på den falske profeten; dei likna froskar. 14 Dette er djevleånder som gjer under og teikn, og dei går ut til kongane i heile verda og vil samla dei til krigen på den store dagen åt Gud, Den Allmektige. – t 15 «Sjå, eg kjem som ein tjuv. Sæl er den som vaker og som vaktar kleda sine, så han ikkje må gå naken og visa si skam.» – t

16 Og dei samla kongane på den staden som på hebraisk heiter Harmageddon.
17 Den sjuande engelen tømde si skål i lufta. Då høyrdest det frå kongsstolen i templet ei veldig røyst som sa: «Det har hendt!» t 18 Og det kom lyn og drønn og torebrak, og eit jordskjelv som det ikkje har vore maken til så lenge det har levt menneske på jorda – så kraftig var det. t 19 Den store byen vart kløyvd i tre delar, og byane til folka vart lagde i grus. Gud kom i hug det store Babylon, og det laut ta imot staupet med hans harme- og vreidevin. t 20 Kvar øy vart borte, og fjella fanst ikkje meir. t 21 Svære hagl på hundre pund fall ned frå himmelen over menneska. Men dei spotta Gud for den plaga som haglet var, for plaga var fælsleg.t

REVELATION 16

The Bowls of God's Anger

1 From the temple I heard a voice shout to the seven angels, “Go and empty the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth.”

2  t The first angel emptied his bowl on the earth. At once ugly and painful sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and worshiped the idol.

3 The second angel emptied his bowl on the sea. At once the sea turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.
4  t The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and streams. At once they turned to blood.

5 Then I heard the angel, who has power over water, say,
“You have always been,
and you always will be
the holy God.
You had the right
to judge in this way.

6 They poured out the bloodt
of your people
and your prophets.
So you gave them blood
to drink as they deserve!”

7 After this, I heard
the altar shout,
“Yes, Lord God All-Powerful,
your judgments are honest
and fair.”
8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl on the sun, and it began to scorch people like fire.

9 Everyone was scorched by its great heat, and all of them cursed the name of God who had power over these terrible troubles. But no one turned to God and praised him.
10  t The fifth angel emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast. At once darkness covered its kingdom, and its people began biting their tongues in pain.

11 And because of their painful sores, they cursed the God who rules in heaven. But still they did not stop doing evil things.
12  t The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it completely dried up to make a road for the kings from the east. 13 An evil spirit that looked like a frog came out of the mouth of the dragon. One also came out of the mouth of the beast, and another out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 These evil spirits had the power to work miracles. They went to every king on earth, to bring them together for a war against God All-Powerful. But that will be the day of God's great victory.

15  t Remember Christ says, “When I come, it will surprise you like a thief! But God will bless you, if you are awake and ready. Then you won't have to walk around naked and be ashamed.”

16  t Those armies came together in a place that in Hebrew is called Armagedon.t
17 As soon as the seventh angel emptied his bowl in the air, a loud voice from the throne in the temple shouted, “It's done!” 18 t There were flashes of lightning, roars of thunder, and the worst earthquake in all history. 19 t The great city of Babylon split into three parts, and the cities of other nations fell. So God made Babylon drink from the wine cup filled with his anger. 20 t Every island ran away, and the mountains disappeared. 21 t Hailstones, weighing about 50 kilograms each, fell from the sky on people. Finally, the people cursed God, because the hail was so terrible.
