요한계시록 16

진노의 대접

1 나는 또 성전에서 큰 음성이 울려오는 것을 들었는데, 그 음성이 일곱 천사들에게 이르기를 “가서, 하나님의 진노가 담긴 일곱 대접을 땅에 쏟아라” 하였습니다. 2 그래서 첫째 천사가 나가서 그 대접을 땅에 쏟으니, 짐승의 표를 받은 자들과 그 짐승 우상에게 절하는 자들에게 아주 나쁜 종기가 생겼습니다. 3 둘째 천사가 그 대접을 바다에 쏟으니, 바닷물이 죽은 사람의 피처럼 되고, 바다에 있는 모든 생물이 죽었습니다. 4 셋째 천사가 그 대접을 강과 샘물에 쏟으니, 물이 피가 되었습니다. 5 내가 들으니, 물을 주관하는 천사가 말하기를 “지금도 계시고 전에도 계시던 거룩하신 주님, 이렇게 심판하셨으니, 주님은 의로우신 분이십니다.

6 그들은 성도들과 예언자들의 피를 흘리게 하였으므로, 주님께서 그들에게 피를 주어, 마시게 하셨습니다. 그들은 그렇게 되어야 마땅합니다” 하였습니다.

7 또 내가 들으니, 제단에서 “그렇습니다. 주 하나님, 전능하신 분, 주님의 심판은 참되고 의롭습니다” 하는 소리가 울려 나왔습니다.

8 넷째 천사가 그 대접을 해에다 쏟았습니다. 해는 불로 사람을 태우라는 허락을 받았습니다. 9 그래서 사람들은 몹시 뜨거운 열에 탔습니다. 그러나 그들은 이 재앙을 지배하는 권세를 가지신 하나님의 이름을 모독하였고, 회개하지 않았고, 하나님께 영광을 돌리지 않았습니다. 10 다섯째 천사가 그 대접을 짐승의 왕좌에 쏟으니, 짐승의 나라가 어두워지고, 사람들은 괴로움을 못 이겨서 자기들의 혀를 깨물었습니다. 11 그들은 아픔과 부스럼 때문에, 하늘의 하나님을 모독하였습니다. 그러나 그들은 자기들의 행동을 회개하지 않았습니다. 12 여섯째 천사가 그 대접을 큰 강 유프라테스에 쏟으니, 강물이 말라 버려서, 해 돋는 곳에서 오는 왕들의 길이 마련되었습니다. 13 나는 또 용의 입과 짐승의 입과 거짓 예언자의 입에서, 개구리와 같이 생긴 더러운 영 셋이 나오는 것을 보았습니다. 14 그들은 귀신의 영으로서, 기이한 일을 행하면서 온 세계의 왕들을 찾아 돌아다니는데, 그것은 전능하신 하나님의 큰 날에 일어날 전쟁에 대비하여 왕들을 모으려고 하는 것입니다. 15 (“보아라, 내가 도둑처럼 올 것이다. 깨어 있어서, t자기 옷을 갖추어 입고, 벌거벗은 몸으로 돌아다니지 않으며, 자기의 부끄러운 데를 남에게 보이지 않는 사람은, 복이 있다.”) 16 그 세 영은 히브리 말로 아마겟돈이라고 하는 곳으로 왕들을 모았습니다. 17 일곱째 천사가 그 대접을 공중에 쏟으니, 성전에서 보좌로부터 “다 되었다” 하는 큰 음성이 울려 나왔습니다. 18 또 번개가 치고, 음성들이 나고, 천둥이 울리고, 큰 지진이 일어났는데, 이런 큰 지진은 사람이 땅 위에 생겨난 뒤로 일찍이 없었던 것입니다. 19 그리고 그 큰 도시가 세 조각이 나고, 민족들의 도시들도 무너졌습니다. 하나님께서 그 큰 도시 바빌론을 기억하셔서, 하나님의 진노를 나타내는 독한 포도주의 잔을 그 도시에 내리시니, 20 모든 섬들이 사라지고, 산들이 자취를 감추었습니다. 21 그리고 무게가 한 달란트나 되는 큰 우박이 하늘로부터 사람들 위에 떨어지니, 사람들은 우박의 재앙이 너무도 심해서, 하나님을 모독하였습니다.

REVELATION 16

The Bowls of God's Anger

1 From the temple I heard a voice shout to the seven angels, “Go and empty the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth.”

2  t The first angel emptied his bowl on the earth. At once ugly and painful sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and worshiped the idol.

3 The second angel emptied his bowl on the sea. At once the sea turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.
4  t The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and streams. At once they turned to blood.

5 Then I heard the angel, who has power over water, say,
“You have always been,
and you always will be
the holy God.
You had the right
to judge in this way.

6 They poured out the bloodt
of your people
and your prophets.
So you gave them blood
to drink as they deserve!”

7 After this, I heard
the altar shout,
“Yes, Lord God All-Powerful,
your judgments are honest
and fair.”
8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl on the sun, and it began to scorch people like fire.

9 Everyone was scorched by its great heat, and all of them cursed the name of God who had power over these terrible troubles. But no one turned to God and praised him.
10  t The fifth angel emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast. At once darkness covered its kingdom, and its people began biting their tongues in pain.

11 And because of their painful sores, they cursed the God who rules in heaven. But still they did not stop doing evil things.
12  t The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it completely dried up to make a road for the kings from the east. 13 An evil spirit that looked like a frog came out of the mouth of the dragon. One also came out of the mouth of the beast, and another out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 These evil spirits had the power to work miracles. They went to every king on earth, to bring them together for a war against God All-Powerful. But that will be the day of God's great victory.

15  t Remember Christ says, “When I come, it will surprise you like a thief! But God will bless you, if you are awake and ready. Then you won't have to walk around naked and be ashamed.”

16  t Those armies came together in a place that in Hebrew is called Armagedon.t
17 As soon as the seventh angel emptied his bowl in the air, a loud voice from the throne in the temple shouted, “It's done!” 18 t There were flashes of lightning, roars of thunder, and the worst earthquake in all history. 19 t The great city of Babylon split into three parts, and the cities of other nations fell. So God made Babylon drink from the wine cup filled with his anger. 20 t Every island ran away, and the mountains disappeared. 21 t Hailstones, weighing about 50 kilograms each, fell from the sky on people. Finally, the people cursed God, because the hail was so terrible.
