ΑΠΟΚΑΛΥΨΗ ΙΩΑΝΝΟΥ 16

Οι εφτά φιάλες της οργής του Θεού

1 Μετά άκουσα μια δυνατή φωνή από το ναό να λέει στους εφτά *αγγέλους: «Πηγαίνετε κι αδειάστε στη γη τις εφτά φιάλες της οργής του Θεού».

2 Έφυγε ο πρώτος κι άδειασε τη φιάλη του στη γη. Και παρουσιάστηκε μια επώδυνη και κακοήθης πληγή σ’ όσους ανθρώπους είχαν το σημάδι του θηρίου και προσκυνούσαν το άγαλμά του.

3 Ο δεύτερος άγγελος άδειασε τη φιάλη του στη θάλασσα. Το νερό έγινε σαν το αίμα νεκρού, και κάθε ζωντανή ύπαρξη στη θάλασσα πέθανε.
4 Ο τρίτος άδειασε τη φιάλη του στα ποτάμια και στις νεροπηγές, και το νερό έγινε αίμα.

5 Κι άκουσα τον άγγελο που εξουσιάζει τα νερά να λέει:
«Δίκαιος είσαι, *άγιε, εσύ που αληθινά υπάρχεις και υπήρχες,
κι αυτό το έδειξες μ’ αυτήν την κρίση σου.

6 Αίμα αγίων και προφητών έχυσαν·
κι αίμα τους έδωσες να πιουν·
το άξιζαν».

7 Κι από το *θυσιαστήριο άκουσα μια φωνή να λέει:
«Ναι, Κύριε, παντοκράτορα Θεέ·
οι αποφάσεις σου είναι σωστές και δίκαιες».
8 Ο τέταρτος άγγελος άδειασε τη φιάλη του πάνω στον ήλιο· δόθηκε τότε στον ήλιο η άδεια να κατακάψει τους ανθρώπους.

9 Κι οι άνθρωποι κατακάηκαν· αντί όμως να μετανοήσουν και να δοξάσουν το Θεό, βλαστήμησαν το *όνομα του Θεού, εκείνον που είχε εξουσία πάνω σ’ αυτές τις πληγές.
10 Ο πέμπτος άδειασε τη φιάλη του στο θρόνο του θηρίου. Σκοτάδι τότε απλώθηκε πάνω στο βασίλειό του, κι οι άνθρωποι δάγκωναν τη γλώσσα τους από τον πόνο.

11 Οι συμφορές, όμως, και οι πληγές τούς έκαναν να βλαστημήσουν το Θεό, που εξουσιάζει τον ουρανό, αντί να μετανοήσουν για τα έργα τους.
12 Ο έκτος άδειασε τη φιάλη του στον ποταμό το μεγάλο, τον Ευφράτη. Το ποτάμι ξεράθηκε, κι έτσι ετοιμάστηκε ο δρόμος για την επίθεση των βασιλιάδων της Ανατολής. 13 Είδα τότε να βγαίνουν από το στόμα του δράκοντα κι από το στόμα του θηρίου κι από το στόμα του ψευδοπροφήτη τρία πονηρά *πνεύματα, που έμοιαζαν με βατράχια.

14 Είναι τα δαιμονικά πνεύματα που κάνουν τερατουργίες και στέλνονται στους βασιλιάδες όλης της οικουμένης να τους συνάξουν για τον πόλεμο, που θα γίνει τη μεγάλη εκείνη *ημέρα του παντοκράτορα Θεού.

15 «Ακούστε! Έρχομαι ξαφνικά σαν κλέφτης· μακάριος είναι εκείνος που μένει ξάγρυπνος και φυλάει τα ρούχα του, για να μη βρεθεί να περπατάει γυμνός, να τον βλέπουν οι άλλοι και να ντρέπεται».

16 Τα πνεύματα μάζεψαν τους βασιλιάδες σ’ έναν τόπο που λέγεται στα εβραϊκά *Αρμαγεδών.
17 Ο έβδομος άγγελος άδειασε τη φιάλη του στον αέρα, κι από το θρόνο μέσα στο ναό του ουρανού βγήκε μια δυνατή φωνή που έλεγε: «Έγινε». 18 Ξέσπασαν τότε αστραπές, φωνές και βροντές, κι έγινε μεγάλος σεισμός, τέτοιος που δεν είχε γίνει από τότε που δημιουργήθηκε ο άνθρωπος πάνω στη γη· τόσο μεγάλος ήταν ο σεισμός. 19 Κι έγινε η πόλη η μεγάλη τρία κομμάτια, και οι πόλεις όλων των εθνών καταστράφηκαν. Ο Θεός θυμήθηκε τη μεγάλη *Βαβυλώνα και της έδωσε να πιει κρασί απ’ το ποτήρι του θυμού και της οργής του. 20 Όλα τα νησιά εξαφανίστηκαν και τα βουνά χάθηκαν. 21 Πάνω στους ανθρώπους έπεσε από τον ουρανό τεράστιο χαλάζι, βαρύ σαν κοτρόνα. Και βλαστήμησαν οι άνθρωποι το Θεό για τη συμφορά που προκάλεσε το χαλάζι, γιατί η συμφορά αυτή ήταν πάρα πολύ μεγάλη.

Revelation 16

1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, Go ye, and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God into the earth.2 And the first went, and poured out his bowl into the earth; and it became a noisome and grievous sore upon the men that had the mark of the beast, and that worshipped his image.3 And the second poured out his bowl into the sea; and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living soul died, even the things that were in the sea.4 And the third poured out his bowl into the rivers and the fountains of the waters; and it became blood.5 And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Righteous art thou, who art and who wast, thou Holy One, because thou didst thus judge:6 for they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and blood hast thou given them to drink: they are worthy.7 And I heard the altar saying, Yea, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.8 And the fourth poured out his bowl upon the sun; and it was given unto it to scorch men with fire.9 And men were scorched men with great heat: and they blasphemed the name of God who hath the power over these plagues; and they repented not to give him glory.10 And the fifth poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast; and his kingdom was darkened; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,11 and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores; and they repented not of their works.12 And the sixth poured out his bowl upon the great river, the river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way might by made ready for the kings that come from the sunrising.13 And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, as it were frogs:14 for they are spirits of demons, working signs; which go forth unto the kings of the whole world, to gather them together unto the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.15 (Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walked naked, and they see his shame.)16 And they gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew Har-magedon.17 And the seventh poured out his bowl upon the air; and there came forth a great voice out of the temple, from the throne, saying, It is done:18 and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men upon the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty.19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.21 And great hail, every stone about the weight of a talent, cometh down out of heaven upon men: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof is exceeding great.
