APOCALIPSIS 16
Las siete copas
1 Entonces oí una fuerte voz que salía del templo, y que les decía a los siete ángeles: «Vayan y vacíen las siete copas que representan el enojo de Dios.»
2 El primer ángel fue y vació su copa sobre la tierra, y a todos los que tenían la marca del monstruo y adoraban su estatua les salió una llaga terrible y dolorosa.
3 El segundo ángel vació su copa sobre el mar, y el agua del mar se convirtió en sangre, como la sangre de los que mueren asesinados. Así murió todo lo que tenía vida en el mar.
4 El tercer ángel vació su copa sobre los ríos y sobre los manantiales, y el agua se convirtió en sangre.
5 Luego oí decir al ángel que tiene poder sobre el agua:
«Dios, tú eres santo,
vives por siempre,
y tus castigos son justos.
6 Tus enemigos mataron a muchos
de tu pueblo santo,
y también a tus profetas.
Por eso ahora tú
les das a beber sangre,
¡pues se lo merecen!»
7 Y escuché una voz que salía del altar y decía: «Sí, Señor Dios todopoderoso, estos castigos son correctos y justos.»
8 El cuarto ángel vació su copa sobre el sol, al cual se le permitió quemar a la gente.
9 Todos quedaron terriblemente quemados, pero ni aun así se volvieron a Dios ni lo alabaron. Al contrario, ofendieron a Dios, que tiene poder para suspender esos terribles castigos.
10-11 El quinto ángel vació su copa sobre el trono del monstruo, y su reino quedó en la oscuridad.
La gente se mordía la lengua de dolor, porque las llagas los hacían sufrir mucho. Pero ni aun así dejaron de hacer lo malo, sino que ofendieron a Dios por el dolor que sentían; ¡ofendieron a Dios, que vive en el cielo!
12 El sexto ángel vació su copa sobre el gran río Éufrates, y el agua del río se secó para que los reyes del Oriente pudieran pasar.
13 Entonces vi que de la boca del dragón, de la boca del monstruo y de la boca del falso profeta, salieron tres espíritus malos que parecían ranas.
14 Eran espíritus de demonios, que hacían cosas extraordinarias y maravillosas. Salieron para reunir a todos los reyes del mundo, para que lucharan contra el Dios todopoderoso. Lo harán cuando llegue el día en que Dios juzgará a todo el mundo.
15 Por eso el Señor Jesús dice:
«Yo volveré cuando menos lo esperen. Volveré como el ladrón, que roba en la noche menos esperada. ¡Dios bendecirá al que se mantenga despierto y vestido, pues no lo sorprenderán desnudo! ¡Ni tendrá nada de qué avergonzarse!»
16 Los espíritus malos reunieron a los reyes en un lugar, que en hebreo se llama Harmagedón.
17 El séptimo ángel vació su copa sobre el aire, y desde el trono que está en el templo salió una fuerte voz que decía: «¡Ya está hecho!»
18 Y hubo relámpagos, voces, truenos y un gran terremoto, más terrible que todos los terremotos que han sacudido a la tierra desde que hay gente en ella.19 El terremoto partió en tres a la gran ciudad de Babilonia, t y las ciudades de todo el mundo se derrumbaron. Dios no se olvidó de Babilonia, sino que la castigó terriblemente, con todo su enojo.20 Todas las islas y las montañas desaparecieron,
21 y del cielo cayeron grandes granizos sobre la gente. Los granizos parecían rocas, pues pesaban más de cuarenta kilos. Y la gente insultó y ofendió a Dios, porque aquellos terribles granizos fueron un castigo muy duro.
REVELATION 16
The Bowls of God's Anger
1 From the temple I heard a voice shout to the seven angels, “Go and empty the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth.”
2 t The first angel emptied his bowl on the earth. At once ugly and painful sores broke out on everyone who had the mark of the beast and worshiped the idol.
3 The second angel emptied his bowl on the sea. At once the sea turned into blood like that of a dead person, and every living thing in the sea died.
4 t The third angel emptied his bowl into the rivers and streams. At once they turned to blood.
5 Then I heard the angel, who has power over water, say,
“You have always been,
and you always will be
the holy God.
You had the right
to judge in this way.
6 They poured out the bloodt
of your people
and your prophets.
So you gave them blood
to drink as they deserve!”
7 After this, I heard
the altar shout,
“Yes, Lord God All-Powerful,
your judgments are honest
and fair.”
8 The fourth angel emptied his bowl on the sun, and it began to scorch people like fire.
9 Everyone was scorched by its great heat, and all of them cursed the name of God who had power over these terrible troubles. But no one turned to God and praised him.
10 t The fifth angel emptied his bowl on the throne of the beast. At once darkness covered its kingdom, and its people began biting their tongues in pain.
11 And because of their painful sores, they cursed the God who rules in heaven. But still they did not stop doing evil things.
12 t The sixth angel emptied his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it completely dried up to make a road for the kings from the east. 13 An evil spirit that looked like a frog came out of the mouth of the dragon. One also came out of the mouth of the beast, and another out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 These evil spirits had the power to work miracles. They went to every king on earth, to bring them together for a war against God All-Powerful. But that will be the day of God's great victory.
15 t Remember Christ says, “When I come, it will surprise you like a thief! But God will bless you, if you are awake and ready. Then you won't have to walk around naked and be ashamed.”
16 t Those armies came together in a place that in Hebrew is called Armagedon.t
17 As soon as the seventh angel emptied his bowl in the air, a loud voice from the throne in the temple shouted, “It's done!” 18 t There were flashes of lightning, roars of thunder, and the worst earthquake in all history. 19 t The great city of Babylon split into three parts, and the cities of other nations fell. So God made Babylon drink from the wine cup filled with his anger. 20 t Every island ran away, and the mountains disappeared. 21 t Hailstones, weighing about 50 kilograms each, fell from the sky on people. Finally, the people cursed God, because the hail was so terrible.
