요한계시록 2

에베소 교회에 보내는 말씀

1 “에베소 교회의 t심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘오른손에 일곱 별을 쥐시고, 일곱 금 촛대 사이를 거니시는 분이 말씀하신다. 2 나는 네가 한 일과 네 수고와 인내를 알고 있다. 또 나는, 네가 악한 자들을 참고 내버려 둘 수 없었던 것과, 사도가 아니면서 사도라고 자칭하는 자들을 시험하여 그들이 거짓말쟁이임을 밝혀 낸 것도, 알고 있다. 3 너는 참고, 내 이름을 위하여 고난을 견디어 냈으며, 낙심한 적이 없다. 4 그러나 너에게 나무랄 것이 있다. 그것은 네가 처음 사랑을 버린 것이다. 5 그러므로 네가 어디에서 떨어졌는지를 생각해 내서 회개하고, 처음에 하던 일을 하여라. 네가 그렇게 하지 않고, 회개하지 않으면, 내가 가서 네 촛대를 그 자리에서 옮기겠다. 6 그런데 네게는 잘 하는 일이 있다. 너는 니골라 당이 하는 일을 미워한다. 나도 그것을 미워한다. 7 귀가 있는 사람은, 성령이 교회들에 하시는 말씀을 들어라. 이기는 사람에게는, 내가 t하나님의 낙원에 있는 생명 나무의 열매를 주어서 먹게 하겠다.’”

서머나 교회에 보내는 말씀

8 “서머나 교회의 t심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘처음이며 마지막이요, 죽으셨다가 살아나신 분이 이렇게 말씀하신다. 9 나는 네가 당한 환난과 궁핍을 알고 있다. 그런데 사실 너는 부요하다. 또 자칭 유대 사람이라는 자들에게서 네가 비방을 당하고 있는 것도, 나는 알고 있다. 그러나 사실 그들은 유대 사람이 아니라 사탄의 무리다. 10 네가 장차 받을 고난을 두려워하지 말아라. 보아라, 악마가 너희를 시험하여 넘어뜨리려고, 너희 가운데서 몇 사람을 감옥에다 집어넣으려고 한다. 너희는 열흘 동안 환난을 당할 것이다. 죽도록 충성하여라. 그리하면 내가 생명의 t면류관을 너에게 주겠다. 11 귀가 있는 사람은, 성령이 교회들에 하시는 말씀을 들어라. 이기는 사람은 둘째 사망의 해를 받지 않을 것이다.’”

버가모 교회에 보내는 말씀

12 “버가모 교회의 t심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내어라. ‘날카로운 양날 칼을 가지신 분이 이렇게 말씀하신다. 13 나는 네가 어디에 거주하는지를 알고 있다. 그 곳은 사탄의 왕좌가 있는 곳이다. 그렇지만 너는 내 이름을 굳게 붙잡고, 또 내 신실한 증인인 안디바가 너희 곁 곧 사탄이 살고 있는 그 곳에서 죽임을 당할 때에도, 나를 믿는 믿음을 저버리지 않았다. 14 그러나 나는 네게 몇 가지 나무랄 것이 있다. 너희 가운데는 발람의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다. 발람은 발락을 시켜서, 이스라엘 자손 앞에 올무를 놓게 하고, 우상의 제물을 먹게 하고, 음란한 일을 하게 한 자다. 15 이와 같이, 네게도 니골라 당의 가르침을 따르는 자들이 있다. 16 그러니 회개하여라. 만일 회개하지 않으면, 내가 속히 너에게로 가서, 내 입에서 나오는 칼을 가지고 그들과 싸우겠다. 17 귀가 있는 사람은, 성령이 교회들에 하시는 말씀을 들어라. 이기는 사람에게는 내가, 감추어 둔 만나를 주겠고, 흰 돌도 주겠다. 그 돌에는 새 이름이 적혀 있는데, 그 돌을 받는 사람 밖에는 아무도 그것을 알지 못한다.’”

두아디라 교회에 보내는 말씀

18 “두아디라 교회의 t심부름꾼에게 이렇게 써 보내라. ‘그 눈이 불꽃과 같고, 그 발이 놋쇠와 같으신 분, 곧 하나님의 아들이 이렇게 말씀하신다. 19 나는 네 행위와 네 사랑과 믿음과 섬김과 오래 참음을 알고, 또 네 나중 행위가 처음 행위보다 더 훌륭하다는 것을 안다. 20 그러나 네게 나무랄 것이 있다. 너는 이세벨이라는 여자를 용납하고 있다. 그는 스스로 예언자로 자처하면서, 내 종들을 가르치고, 그들을 미혹시켜서 간음하게 하고, 우상의 제물을 먹게 하는 자다. 21 내가 그에게 회개할 기회를 주었으나, 그는 자기 음행을 회개하려 하지 않았다. 22 보아라, 나는 그를 병상에다 던지겠다. 그와 더불어 간음하는 자들도, 그와의 행위를 회개하지 않으면, 큰 환난을 당하게 하겠다. 23 그리고 나는 그의 자녀들을 반드시 죽게 하겠다. 그러면 모든 교회는 내가 사람의 생각과 마음을 살피는 분임을 알게 될 것이다. 나는 너희 각 사람에게 그 행위대로 갚아 주겠다. 24 그러나 두아디라에 있는 사람들 가운데서 그의 가르침을 받아들이지 않은 사람들, 곧 사탄의 깊은 흉계에 물들지 않은 사람들인 너희 남은 사람들에게 내가 말한다. 나는 너희에게 다른 짐을 지우지 않겠다. 25 다만 내가 올 때까지, 너희가 가지고 있는 그것을 굳게 붙잡고 있어라. 26 이기는 사람, 곧 내 일을 끝까지 지키는 사람에게는, 민족들을 다스리는 권세를 주겠다.

27  t「그는 쇠지팡이로 그들을 다스릴 것이고, 민족들은 마치 질그릇이 부수어지듯 할 것이다.」

28 이것은 마치, 내가 나의 아버지께로부터 권세를 받아서 다스리는 것과 같다. 나는 그 사람에게 샛별을 주겠다. 29 귀가 있는 사람은, 성령이 교회들에 하시는 말씀을 들어라.’”

REVELATION 2

The Letter to Ephesus

1 This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Ephesus:
I am the one who holds the seven stars in my right hand, and I walk among the seven gold lampstands. Listen to what I say.
2 I know everything you have done, including your hard work and how you have endured. I know you won't put up with anyone who is evil. When some people pretended to be apostles, you tested them and found out they were liars.

3 You have endured and gone through hard times because of me, yet you have not given up.
4 But I do have something against you! And it is this: You don't have as much love as you used to. 5 Think about where you have fallen from, and then turn back and do as you did at first. If you don't turn back, I will come and take away your lampstand.

6 But there is one thing you are doing right. You hate what the Nicolaitanst are doing, and so do I.

7  t If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. I will let everyone who wins the victory eat from the life-giving tree in God's wonderful garden.

The Letter to Smyrna

8  t This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Smyrna:
I am the first and the last. I died, but now I am alive! Listen to what I say.

9 I know how much you suffer and how poor you are, but you are rich. I also know the cruel things being said about you by people who claim to be God's people. But they are not really God's people. They are a group that belongs to Satan.

10 Don't worry about what you will suffer. The devil will throw some of you into jail, and you will be tested and made to suffer for ten days. But if you are faithful until you die, I will reward you with a glorious life.t

11  t If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. Whoever wins the victory will not be hurt by the second death.t

The Letter to Pergamum

12 This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Pergamum:
I am the one who has the sharp double-edged sword! Listen to what I say.

13 I know you live where Satan has his throne.t But you have kept true to my name. Right there where Satan lives, my faithful witness Antipast was taken from you and put to death. Even then you did not give up your faith in me.
14  t I do have a few things against you. Some of you are following the teaching of Balaam.t Long ago he told Balak to teach the people of Israel to eat food that had been offered to idols and to be immoral. 15 Now some of you are following the teaching of the Nicolaitans.t

16 Turn back! If you don't, I will come quickly and fight against these people. And my words will cut like a sword.

17  t If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To everyone who wins the victory, I will give some of the hidden food.t I will also give each one a white stonet with a new namet written on it. No one will know that name except the one who is given the stone.

The Letter to Thyatira

18 This is what you must write to the angel of the church in Thyatira:
I am the Son of God! My eyes are like flames of fire, and my feet are like bronze. Listen to what I say.
19 I know everything about you, including your love, your faith, your service, and how you have endured. I know you are doing more now than you have ever done before. 20 t But I still have something against you because of that woman Jezebel.t She calls herself a prophet, and you let her teach and mislead my servants to do immoral things and to eat food offered to idols.

21 I gave her a chance to turn from her sins, but she did not want to stop doing these immoral things.
22 I am going to strike down Jezebel. Everyone who does these immoral things with her will also be punished, if they don't stop.

23 t I will even kill her followers.t Then all the churches will see that I know everyone's thoughts and feelings. I will treat each of you as you deserve.
24 Some of you in Thyatira don't follow Jezebel's teaching. You don't know anything about what her followers call the “deep secrets of Satan.” So I won't burden you down with any other commands.

25 But until I come, you must hold firmly to the teaching you have.
26  t I will give power over the nations to everyone who wins the victory and keeps on obeying me until the end.

27-28 I will give each of them the same power my Father has given me. They will rule the nations with an iron rod and smash those nations to pieces like clay pots. I will also give them the morning star.t
29 If you have ears, listen to what the Spirit says to the churches.
