Apocalypse 20

Quatrième vision: le dragon enchaîné pour mille ans

1 Puis je vis un *ange descendre du ciel. Il tenait à la main la clé de l’abîme et une grande chaîne.

2 Il se saisit du dragon, de ce Serpent ancien qui est le diable et *Satan. Il l’enchaîna pour mille ans.

3 Il le précipita dans l’abîme qu’il ferma au-dessus de lui , en y mettant des *scellés afin que le dragon ne puisse plus égarer les peuples avant le terme des mille ans. Après cela, il doit être relâché pour un peu de temps.

Cinquième vision: victoire finale sur Satan après son relâchement

4 Ensuite je vis des trônes. On remit le jugement entre les mains de ceux qui y prirent place. Je vis aussi les âmes de ceux qu’on avait décapités à cause du témoignage rendu par Jésus et à cause de la Parole de Dieu. Je vis encore tous ceux qui n’avaient pas adoré la bête ni son image et qui n’avaient pas reçu sa marque sur leur front et leur main. Ils revinrent à la vie et régnèrent avec le Christ pendant mille ans.

5 C’est la première résurrection. Les autres morts ne revinrent pas à la vie avant la fin des mille ans.

6 Heureux et saints ceux qui ont part à la première résurrection. La seconde mort n’a pas prise sur eux. Ils seront *prêtres de Dieu et du Christ, et ils régneront avec lui pendant les mille ans.

7 Lorsque les mille ans seront écoulés, *Satan sera relâché de sa prison

8 et il s’en ira tromper les nations des quatre coins de la terre, Gog et Magog. Il les rassemblera pour le combat, en troupes innombrables comme les grains de sable au bord des mers.

9 Les nations s’ébranlèrent sur toute la surface de la terre et investirent le camp du peuple de Dieu et la ville bien-aimée de Dieu. Mais un feu tomba du ciel et les consuma.

10 Alors le diable, qui les trompait, fut jeté dans l’étang de feu et de soufre: il y rejoignit la bête et le faux prophète et ils y subiront des tourments, jour et nuit, pendant l’éternité.

Sixième vision: le jugement

11 Ensuite je vis un grand trône blanc et celui qui y était assis. Le ciel et la terre s’enfuirent loin de sa présence. Ils disparurent sans laisser de trace.

12 Je vis les morts, les grands et les petits, comparaissant devant le trône. Des livres furent ouverts. On ouvrit aussi un autre livre: le livre de vie. Les morts furent jugés, chacun d’après ses actes, suivant ce qui était inscrit dans ces livres.

13 La mer avait rendu ses naufragés, la mort et le royaume des morts avaient rendu ceux qu’ils détenaient. Et tous furent jugés, chacun conformément à ses actes.

14 Puis la mort et le séjour des morts furent précipités dans l’étang de feu. Cet étang de feu, c’est la seconde mort.

15 On y jeta aussi tous ceux dont le nom n’était pas inscrit dans le livre de vie.

Revelation 20

The Thousand Year Reign

1 Thent I saw an angel descending from heaven, holdingt in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.2 Het seized the dragon – the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan – and tied him up for a thousand years.

3 The angelt thent threw him into the abyss and lockedt and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)
4 Thent I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge.t I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. Theset had not worshiped the beast or his image and had refused to receive his mark on their forehead or hand. Theyt came to lifet and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished.)s This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is the one who takes partt in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them,t but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.

Satan’s Final Defeat

7 Nowt when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison8 and will go out to deceivet the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog,s to bring them together for the battle. They are as numerous as the grains of sand in the sea.t9 Theyt went upt on the broad plain of the eartht and encircledt the campt of the saints and the beloved city, butt fire came down from heaven and devoured them completely.t

10 And the devil who deceivedt them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur,t where the beast and the false prophet aret too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.

The Great White Throne

11 Thent I saw a larget white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heavent fledts from his presence, and no place was found for them.12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Thent books were opened, and another book was opened – the book of life.t Sot the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.t13 Thet sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Deaths and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.14 Thent Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death – the lake of fire.

15 Ift anyone’s namet was not found written in the book of life, that persont was thrown into the lake of fire.
