Draken binds för 1 000 år
1 Efter det fick jag se en ängel komma ner från himlen. Han hade nyckeln till den bottenlösa avgrunden och en tung kedja i sin hand.2 Och han grep draken, den gamle ormen, som är djävulen eller Satan,t och band honom för 1 000 år.
3 Sedan kastade ängeln ner honom i den bottenlösa avgrunden och låste den och förseglade den med ett sigill, så att han inte kunde bedra folken förrän de 1 000 åren hade gått. Men efter det måste han släppas ut igen för en kort tid.
4 Jag såg också troner, och på dem satte sig de som hade fått rätt att döma. Dessa som jag såg, var själarna av de människor som hade halshuggits för att de hade spridit Guds budskap om Jesus. De hade inte tillbett odjurett eller dess bild och hade inte tagit emot dess märke på sina pannor eller sina händer. Dessa människor fick liv igen och regerade med Kristus, den utlovade kungen, i 1 000 år,5 men resten av de döda blev inte levande igen förrän de 1 000 åren var över. Detta är den första uppståndelsen.
6 Lyckliga är de som tillhör Gud och som får vara med om den första uppståndelsen. Den andra dödent kan inte skada dem, utan de ska vara präster som tjänar Gud och Kristus, den utlovade kungen, och ska regera med honom i 1 000 år.
Satan får sitt straff
7 När de 1 000 åren är över ska Satan släppas lös ur sitt fängelse.8 Han ska då gå ut och bedra folk från jordens alla hörn, de som kallas Gog och Magog,t och samla dem till strid. Och de ska vara lika många som sanden i havet.9 Jag såg hur de drog fram över hela jorden och omringade den stad som Gud älskar, den plats där de människor som tillhör Gud hade samlats. Men eld från himlen föll ner och utplånade dem.
10 Och djävulen som bedrog dem kastades ner i samma sjö av eld och svavel som odjuret och den falska profetent, och där ska de plågas dag och natt i all evighet.
Guds dom
11 Sedan såg jag en stor vit tron och honom som sitter på den. Och när han visade sig försvann jorden och himlen, de fanns inte mer.12 Jag såg också de döda, både högt uppsatta personer och vanligt folk. De stod inför Gud, och böcker öppnades. Även en annan bok öppnades, och det var livets bokt. De döda dömdes sedan efter vad som stod i de första böckerna, för där fanns alla deras gärningar nedskrivna.13 Havet gav tillbaka de döda som fanns i det, och de dödas världt gav tillbaka de döda som fanns i den, och var och en dömdes efter sina gärningar.14 Sedan kastades de dödas värld i den brinnande sjön. Detta är den andra döden, den brinnande sjön.
15 Och var och en som inte hade sitt namn skrivet i livets bok kastades i den brinnande sjön.
Revelation 20
The Thousand Year Reign
1 Thent I saw an angel descending from heaven, holdingt in his hand the key to the abyss and a huge chain.2 Het seized the dragon – the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan – and tied him up for a thousand years.
3 The angelt thent threw him into the abyss and lockedt and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)
4 Thent I saw thrones and seated on them were those who had been given authority to judge.t I also saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. Theset had not worshiped the beast or his image and had refused to receive his mark on their forehead or hand. Theyt came to lifet and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished.)s This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is the one who takes partt in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them,t but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
Satan’s Final Defeat
7 Nowt when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison8 and will go out to deceivet the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog,s to bring them together for the battle. They are as numerous as the grains of sand in the sea.t9 Theyt went upt on the broad plain of the eartht and encircledt the campt of the saints and the beloved city, butt fire came down from heaven and devoured them completely.t
10 And the devil who deceivedt them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur,t where the beast and the false prophet aret too, and they will be tormented there day and night forever and ever.
The Great White Throne
11 Thent I saw a larget white throne and the one who was seated on it; the earth and the heavent fledts from his presence, and no place was found for them.12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne. Thent books were opened, and another book was opened – the book of life.t Sot the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their deeds.t13 Thet sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Deaths and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.14 Thent Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death – the lake of fire.
15 Ift anyone’s namet was not found written in the book of life, that persont was thrown into the lake of fire.
