Apocalisse 20

Il diavolo è legato.

1 Poi vidi scendere dal cielo un angelo che teneva in mano la chiave del pozzo senza fondo e una pesante catena.2 Egli afferrò il drago, l’antico serpente, cioè il diavolo o Satana, lo incatenò per mille anni,3 e lo gettò nel pozzo senza fondo, di cui poi richiuse e sigillò l’ingresso. Così non avrebbe più ingannato i popoli, finché non fossero finiti i mille anni. Però, alla fine dei mille anni, dovrà essere liberato di nuovo per un po’ di tempo.4 Poi vidi dei troni, e quelli che vi si posero a sedere avevano il diritto di giudicare. Vidi le anime di quelli che erano stati decapitati per aver testimoniato di Gesù, per aver proclamato la parola di Dio, e di coloro che non avevano adorato né il mostro né la sua statua e che non avevano accettato il suo marchio sulla fronte o sulla mano. Erano tornati in vita ed ora regnavano con Cristo per mille anni.5 Questa è la prima resurrezione. (Il resto dei morti non tornò in vita prima che i mille anni fossero compiuti).6 Beati quelli che partecipano alla prima resurrezione! Su di loro la seconda morte non ha potere, ma saranno sacerdoti di Dio e di Cristo, con cui regneranno mille anni.7 Quando saranno passati i mille anni, Satana sarà liberato e uscirà dalla sua prigione.8 Egli ingannerà i popoli di tutto il mondo e li riunirà, con Gog e Magog, per la battaglia: sarà un esercito potente, e i combattenti saranno tanti quanti sono i granelli di sabbia sulla riva del mare.9 Si spanderanno sulla superficie della terra e assedieranno il popolo di Dio e Gerusalemme, la città che egli ama. Ma dal cielo scenderà il fuoco di Dio, che s’abbatterà sugli eserciti e li consumerà.10 Allora il diavolo, che ancora una volta li ha ingannati, sarà gettato nello stagno di fuoco e di zolfo, dove già si troveranno il mostro e il falso profeta. Là saranno tormentati giorno e notte nei secoli eterni.11 Poi vidi un grande trono bianco e colui che vi stava seduto; dalla sua presenza fuggirono il cielo e la terra, ma non trovarono posto per nascondersi.12 Vidi i morti, grandi e piccoli, in piedi davanti al trono di Dio. Allora furono aperti dei libri, incluso il libro della vita. E i morti furono giudicati, secondo ciò che stava scritto in quei libri, secondo le cose che avevano fatto.13 E il mare rese i corpi di quelli che erano sepolti fra le sue onde, ed anche la terra e l’aldilà resero i morti che custodivano. Ognuno fu giudicato secondo le sue azioni.14 Poi la morte e l’inferno furono gettati nello stagno di fuoco: lo stagno di fuoco è la seconda morte.15 E chi non fu trovato iscritto nel libro della vita venne gettato nello stagno di fuoco.

Revelation 20

1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time.4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.5 The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection.6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.7 And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,8 and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them.10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.15 And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
