Djevelen blir bundet i tusen år

1 Og jeg så en engel stige ned fra himmelen med nøkkelen til avgrunnen og en stor lenke i sin hånd. s2 Han grep dragen, den gamle slangen, som er djevelen og Satan, og bandt ham for tusen år, s3 og kastet ham i avgrunnen, lukket til og satte segl over ham, for at han ikke lenger skulle forføre folkeslagene - ikke før de tusen år var til ende. Deretter må han slippes løs en kort tid. s4 Jeg så troner, og de satte seg på dem, og det ble gitt dem makt til å holde dom. Og jeg så deres sjeler som var blitt halshogd for Jesu vitnesbyrds skyld og for Guds ords skyld, og de som ikke hadde tilbedt dyret eller dets bilde, og som ikke hadde tatt merket på sin panne eller hånd. Og de ble levende og hersket sammen med Kristus i tusen år. ss5 Men de andre døde ble ikke levende før de tusen år var gått. Dette er den første oppstandelsen. 6 Salig og hellig er den som har del i den første oppstandelsen. Over dem har den annen død ingen makt. De skal være Guds og Kristi prester, og regjere med ham i tusen år. s

Djevelen blir beseiret og kastet i ildsjøen

7 Og når de tusen år er til ende, skal Satan løses fra sitt fengsel. s8 Og han skal gå ut og forføre folkeslagene ved jordens fire hjørner, Gog og Magog, for å samle dem til strid. Og tallet på dem er som havets sand. s9 Og de dro opp over den vide jord og omringet de helliges leir og den elskede byen. Men ild falt ned fra himmelen og fortærte dem. s10 Og djevelen som forførte dem, ble kastet i sjøen med ild og svovel, hvor også dyret og den falske profeten var. Og de skal pines dag og natt i all evighet. s

11 Jeg så en stor, hvit trone, og ham som satt på den. For hans åsyn vek jorden og himmelen bort, og det ble ikke funnet sted for dem. s12 Og jeg så de døde, små og store, stå for Gud, og bøker ble åpnet. Og en annen bok ble åpnet, som er livets bok. De døde ble dømt etter det som var skrevet i bøkene, etter sine gjerninger. ss13 Havet ga tilbake de døde som var i det, og døden og dødsriket ga fra seg de døde som var i dem. Og de ble dømt, hver etter sine gjerninger. 14 Og døden og dødsriket ble kastet i ildsjøen. Dette er den annen død: ildsjøen. s15 Og hvis noen ikke ble funnet innskrevet i livets bok, ble han kastet i ildsjøen. s

Revelation 20

1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time.4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.5 The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection.6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.7 And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,8 and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them.10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.15 And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
