APOCALISSE 21

1 Poi vidi un nuovo cielo e una nuova terra, perché il primo cielo e la prima terra erano passati, e il mare non era più. 2 E vidi la santa città, la nuova Gerusalemme, scender giù dal cielo d'appresso a Dio, pronta come una sposa adorna per il suo sposo. 3 E udii una gran voce dal trono, che diceva: Ecco il tabernacolo di Dio con gli uomini; ed Egli abiterà con loro, ed essi saranno suoi popoli, e Dio stesso sarà con loro e sarà loro Dio; 4 e asciugherà ogni lagrima dagli occhi loro e la morte non sarà più; né ci saran più cordoglio, né grido, né dolore, poiché le cose di prima sono passate. 5 E Colui che siede sul trono disse: Ecco, io fo ogni cosa nuova, ed aggiunse: Scrivi, perché queste parole sono fedeli e veraci. 6 Poi mi disse: È compiuto. Io son l'Alfa e l'Omega, il principio e la fine. A chi ha sete io darò gratuitamente della fonte dell'acqua della vita. 7 Chi vince erediterà queste cose; e io gli sarò Dio, ed egli mi sarà figliuolo; 8 ma quanto ai codardi, agl'increduli, agli abominevoli, agli omicidi, ai fornicatori, agli stregoni, agli idolatri e a tutti i bugiardi, la loro parte sarà nello stagno ardente di fuoco e di zolfo, che è la morte seconda. 9 E venne uno dei sette angeli che aveano le sette coppe piene delle sette ultime piaghe; e parlò meco, dicendo: Vieni e ti mostrerò la sposa, la moglie dell'Agnello. 10 E mi trasportò in ispirito su di una grande ed alta montagna, e mi mostrò la santa città, Gerusalemme, che scendeva dal cielo d'appresso a Dio, avendo la gloria di Dio. 11 Il suo luminare era simile a una pietra preziosissima, a guisa d'una pietra di diaspro cristallino. 12 Avea un muro grande ed alto; avea dodici porte, e alle porte dodici angeli, e sulle porte erano scritti dei nomi, che sono quelli delle dodici tribù dei figliuoli d'Israele. 13 A oriente c'eran tre porte; a settentrione tre porte; a mezzogiorno tre porte, e ad occidente tre porte. 14 E il muro della città avea dodici fondamenti, e su quelli stavano i dodici nomi dei dodici apostoli dell'Agnello. 15 E colui che parlava meco aveva una misura, una canna d'oro, per misurare la città, le sue porte e il suo muro. 16 E la città era quadrangolare, e la sua lunghezza era uguale alla larghezza; egli misurò la città con la canna, ed era dodicimila stadi; la sua lunghezza, la sua larghezza e la sua altezza erano uguali. 17 Ne misurò anche il muro, ed era di centoquarantaquattro cubiti, a misura d'uomo, cioè d'angelo. 18 Il muro era costruito di diaspro e la città era d'oro puro, simile a vetro puro. 19 I fondamenti del muro della città erano adorni d'ogni maniera di pietre preziose. Il primo fondamento era di diaspro; il secondo di zaffiro; il terzo di calcedonio; il quarto di smeraldo; 20 il quinto di sardonico; il sesto di sardio; il settimo di crisolito; l'ottavo di berillo; il nono di topazio; il decimo di crisopazio; l'undecimo di giacinto; il dodicesimo di ametista. 21 E le dodici porte eran dodici perle, e ognuna delle porte era fatta d'una perla; e la piazza della città era d'oro puro, simile a vetro trasparente. 22 E non vidi in essa alcun tempio, perché il Signore Iddio, l'Onnipotente, e l'Agnello sono il suo tempio. 23 E la città non ha bisogno di sole, né di luna che risplendano in lei perché la illumina la gloria di Dio, e l'Agnello è il suo luminare. 24 E le nazioni cammineranno alla sua luce; e i re della terra vi porteranno la loro gloria. 25 E le sue porte non saranno mai chiuse di giorno (la notte quivi non sarà più); 26 e in lei si porterà la gloria e l'onore delle nazioni. 27 E niente d'immondo e nessuno che commetta abominazione o falsità, v'entreranno; ma quelli soltanto che sono scritti nel libro della vita dell'Agnello.

REVELATION 21

The New Heaven and //the New Earth

1  t I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth had disappeared, and so had the sea.

2 t Then I saw New Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down from God in heaven. It was like a bride dressed in her wedding gown and ready to meet her husband.

3  t I heard a loud voice shout from the throne:
God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people.

4 t He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever.

5 Then the one sitting on the throne said:
I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted. 6 t Everything is finished! I am Alpha and Omega, t the beginning and the end. I will freely give water from the life-giving fountain to everyone who is thirsty.

7 t All who win the victory will be given these blessings. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

8 But I will tell you what will happen to cowards and to everyone who is unfaithful or dirty-minded or who murders or is sexually immoral or uses witchcraft or worships idols or tells lies. They will be thrown into that lake of fire and burning sulfur. This is the second death.t

The New Jerusalem

10 t Then with the help of the Spirit, he took me to the top of a very high mountain. There he showed me the holy city of Jerusalem coming down from God in heaven.
11 The glory of God made the city bright. It was dazzling and crystal clear like a precious jasper stone. 12 t The city had a high and thick wall with twelve gates, and each one of them was guarded by an angel. On each of the gates was written the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 Three of these gates were on the east, three were on the north, three more were on the south, and the other three were on the west.

14 The city was built on twelve foundation stones. On each of the stones was written the name of one of the Lamb's twelve apostles.
15  t The angel who spoke to me had a gold measuring stick to measure the city and its gates and its walls. 16 The city was shaped like a cube, because it was just as high as it was wide. When the angel measured the city, it was about 2,400 kilometers high and 2,400 kilometers wide.

17 Then the angel measured the wall, and by our measurements it was about 60 meters high.
18  t t The wall was built of jasper, and the city was made of pure gold, clear as crystal. 19 Each of the twelve foundations was a precious stone. The first was jasper, t the second was sapphire, the third was agate, the fourth was emerald, 20 the fifth was onyx, the sixth was carnelian, the seventh was chrysolite, the eighth was beryl, the ninth was topaz, the tenth was chrysoprase, the eleventh was jacinth, and the twelfth was amethyst.

21 Each of the twelve gates was a solid pearl. The streets of the city were made of pure gold, clear as crystal.
22 I did not see a temple there. The Lord God All-Powerful and the Lamb were its temple.

23 t And the city did not need the sun or the moon. The glory of God was shining on it, and the Lamb was its light.
24  t Nations will walk by the light of that city, and kings will bring their riches there. 25 t Its gates are always open during the day, and night never comes. 26 The glorious treasures of nations will be brought into the city. 27 t But nothing unworthy will be allowed to enter. No one who is dirty-minded or who tells lies will be there. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of lifet will be in the city.
