二一

1 それから私は、新しい地と新しい空とを見ました〔そこには海はありません〕。　今までの地も空も、消え去ってしまいました。　2 また、私ヨハネは、神様のもとを出て天から下って来る、聖なる都、新しいエルサレムに目を奪われました。　その眺めのすばらしさは、まるで、結婚式に美しく着飾った花嫁のようでした。
3 私は、王座から大声で叫ぶ声を聞きました。　「ごらんなさい。　神様の住まいが人々の間にあります。　神様は人々と共に住み、人々は神様の国民となります。　神様自ら人々の中に住み、　4 その目から涙をぬぐってくださるのです。　もはや、死も悲しみも叫びも苦痛もありません。　それらはみな、永遠に姿を消したからです。」
5 王座におられる方が宣言されました。「ごらんなさい。　わたしはすべてを新しくします。」　そして、続いてこう言われました。　「これらのことを書きとめなさい。　わたしが伝えることは、真実で、信頼できるからです。　6 いっさいのわざが成し遂げられました。　わたしは初めであり、終わりです。　のどの渇いている者には、いのちの水の泉をあげましょう。　7 勝利を得る人はだれでも、すべての祝福を相続できるのです。　わたしはその人の神となり、その人はわたしの息子となります。　8 しかし、わたしに従うのをやめるような臆病者、不忠実な者、堕落した者、人殺し、不道徳な者、魔術を行なう者、偶像礼拝者、うそをつく者――こんな連中の行き着く先は、火と硫黄が燃えさかる池です。　これが第二の死なのです。」
9 その時、最後の七つの災害の鉢をぶちまけた、七人の御使いの一人が来て、私に言いました。　「ついて来なさい。　小羊の妻となる花嫁を紹介しましょう。」
栄光の都
10 幻の中で、御使いは私を、高い山の頂上に連れて行きました。そこで私は、すばらしい都、きよいエルサレムが、神様のもとを出て、天から下って来るのを見ました。　11 都は神様の栄光に包まれ、宝石のように光り輝き、碧玉のように透き通っていました。　12 都には、分厚い城壁が高くそびえ、十二人の御使いの守る十二の門があり、それぞれに、イスラエルの十二部族の名が記されていました。　13 また、門は東西南北の方角に、三つずつ設けられていました。　14 城壁には十二の土台石があって、それぞれに、小羊の十二使徒の名が書き込まれていました。
15 御使いは、都と門と城壁とを測るために、金の物差しを手にしていました。　16 実際に測ってみると、都は縦横長さの等しい正方形であることがわかりました。　おまけに高さも同じで、立方体をなしているのです。　それぞれの長さは二千四百キロでした。　17 次に城壁の厚さを測ってみると、六十六メートルありました。　〔御使いは、これらの数字を読み上げました。〕
18-19 都そのものは、ガラスのように透き通る純金でできていました。　城壁は碧玉で、さまざまの宝石がちりばめてある、十二の土台石の上に築かれていました。
第一の土台石は碧玉、
第二はサファイヤ、
第三は玉髄、
第四はエメラルド、
第五は赤縞めのう、
20 第六は赤めのう、
第七は貴かんらん石、
第八は緑柱石、
第九はトパーズ、
第十は緑玉髄、
第十一はヒヤシンス石、
第十二は紫水晶です。
21 十二の門は、それぞれ、一つの大きな真珠でできていました。　大通りは、ガラスのように透き通る純金でした。
22 それにしても、都には、どこにも神殿が見あたらないのです。　というのも、全能の神である主と小羊とを、都のどこででも、自由に礼拝できるからです。　23 都には、太陽も月もいりません。　神様と小羊との栄光が、明るく照らしていたからです。　24 その光は全世界に及ぶのです。　世界中の支配者たちが、それぞれの栄光を携えてやって来ます。　25 都の門は決して閉じられず、一日中、開かれたままです。　ここには夜がないからです。　26 あらゆる国の栄光と誉れが、都に運ばれて来ます。　27 汚れた者は、入れてもらえません。　不道徳な者、不正直な者は、一人たりとも入れません。　小羊のいのちの書に名前が記されている人々だけが、ここに入れるのです。いのちの水の川

Revelation 21

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more.2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.3 And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God:4 and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.5 And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true.6 And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.7 He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.8 But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.9 And there came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, who were laden with the seven last plagues; and he spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the wife of the Lamb.10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,11 having the glory of God: her light was like unto a stone most precious, as it were a jasper stone, clear as crystal:12 having a wall great and high; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:13 on the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.15 And he that spake with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length thereof is as great as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs: the length and the breadth and the height thereof are equal.17 And he measured the wall thereof, a hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.18 And the building of the wall thereof was jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto pure glass.19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the several gates was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God the Almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple thereof.23 And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine upon it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the lamp thereof is the Lamb.24 And the nations shall walk amidst the light thereof: and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it.25 And the gates thereof shall in no wise be shut by day (for there shall be no night there):26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it:27 and there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie: but only they that are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
